| Inspired by Runbow and its collection of indie representatives who sadly don't have their special moves, here's a thread imagining an indie fighting game where they do have their own special moves! Who would you like to see in the great indie hero(ine) fighting extravaganza? Tell us why they'd be good and what moves they'd have! I'll start with an obvious one: - Shovel Knight:
Why him? He's the star of the most widely acclaimed indie game of this generation! Plus he's got a spade ready-made for bashing. There's not a crowd hoping for him to be in Smash for nothing, you know. How would he fight? On the heavy-power side, but more floaty than you might expect. Lots of emphasis of bopping people on the head with his pogo move. Like Yoshimitsu. Special moves would be relics mostly. The game's Final Smash equivalent would have Shield Knight joining him for a tag-team attack.

| - Super Meat Boy:
Why him? Star of the greatest Indie Game ever. Plus look at the guy, he's adorable How would he fight? Shit, I've not thought this through. He's not much of a fighter. He'd be fast, light and great at jumping. I picture him punching like Jigglypuff does in Smash. Maybe his final smash he transforms to ultra fighting form:

| Oh boy, at least of the indie games I play, the vast majority of characters wouldn't really work, or they'd need to have a load of moves put in for them. Perhaps my best effort would be - Ori from Ori and the Blind Forest:
Why!? Quite a versatile moveset, from explosions, to energy bolts coupled with agility and hops. I imagine Ori would play a lot like Pikachu actually, a few quick weak moves and a couple of annoying B attacks and powerful charges. Special Move Well, the best sequences from the game are the breathtaking escapes Ori makes from waterfalls, volcanoes etc. So something similar to Olimar's smash could work. Alternatively some sort of team smash like Duck Hunt Duo or Mega Man involving some of the great side characters from the game

| Ooh good thread idea! My pick would be: - Gish:
Why? Since he can switch from being sticky, slick, solid & expand he could be a very versatile fighter by being both quick and a heavy type. Special Expands in size & becomes super sticky so you can ensnare other fighters then jumps high up to drop said fighters below him then crushes them in his solid form. (like Kirby's down B but more devastating)

| Good Idea and I can think of loads especially if your not that specific on indie as Ninja Theory are a indie studio. But the first person that came to mind was - Red:
Why? Because she's good in combat with her sword Special Move: Slows down the game that allows you to attack and do several at a time

| Nice picks gents! I had to Google Gish - I'd never heard of him. Presumably him and Meat Boy would throw chunks of their bodies at each other? - Juan:
Why him? Guacamelee appeared on pretty much every current-gen. console and was praised on all of them. Its hero is a brawler. Need I say more? How would he fight? I'm thinking Zangief-style burly wrestler-grappler, with special moves lifted directly from the game. Hopping over into the world of the dead for a sneak attack wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Eh, I think we're allowed a fair amount of artistic licence here. Remember that the Duck Hunt Dog exists in Smash Bros. |

| - Shantae:
Why her? She's always ready for combat and a number of alternate costumes have already been developed for the upcoming Half Genie Hero. Plus, y'know, fanservice. And that. How would she fight? Light fighter, mereckons, with lots of moves from her heritage: the hair flick must be in there, alongside some transformations (though only the elephant and harpy (fly back recovery) really lend themselves well to a fighting game like this - monkey and mermaid? No thanks) and perhaps the Flintlock Pistol from Pirate's Curse as a projectile weapon. Her Final Smash equivalent would have to be some exceedingly destructive belly dancing.

| - Quote from Cave Story :
Why?The main star of probably one of the most important indie games out there & it wouldn't feel right not having him in there. How would he fight?A ranged fighter. Use his various guns for attacking and evading, a special attack would have to be a super charged combo shot with Curly Brace.

| - Isaac (from the Binding of Isaac):
Why? Star of one of the biggest indie games around, and just think of the possibilities! Isaac has a colossal pool of moves to choose from, meaning he's got a versatile moveset. How would he fight? Think Mega Man, but with a lot more going on. Isaac would use his tears as his basic fighting tools, but his biggest boon would be his neutral-B special move, the D6. The D6 would randomise his other three special moves (presuming we're going off a Smash style moveset) from a pool of some of Isaac's more memorable items. Ipacac bombs? Mom's Knife projectiles? Brimstone beams? Or perhaps you'll be stuck with Lemon Mishap and Soy Milk. To make him a bit more balanced, the D6 should have a meaty cooldown before using it again, otherwise you could spam it and end up with an OP moveset. Final Smash could be the other playable characters flying in for a beatdown on Isaac's foes.

| Frenchy Bird- Spoiler:
Why him? Because I feel like there's nobody else that's not already been mentioned, with the exception of one of the birds from Chasing Aurora, which is a real IM_HERON of a game. How would him fight?. Crepé.

Why? From one of the games that made XBLA so good How would he fight: Has a Gun and a Sword along with other weapons I'm thinking Link clone.

| - Officer Patricia Wagon from the Mighty Switch Force! series:
Why her? Always equipped with a powerful projectile weapon but never having it as the focus of gameplay. Plus, y'know, fanservice. And that. How would she fight? Another lighter fighter, with the emphasis heavily on projectiles. You'd have to switch (sorry) between the pistol and the fire hose to fully utilise her history, of course, but Mario has his fireballs and F.L.U.D.D.... so why not? Her Final Smash equivalent would be lots of the classic MSF! blocks appearing/disappearing and ramming opponents into the camera (much as happens in Smash anyway!).

I've found my main, lads! I hope that he can actually crap crêpes onto people as a special move. - Tim:
Why him? It wouldn't really be an indie fighting game without the indie protagonist, would it? How he fights is a bit more difficult to imagine, but not including this chap would be like Smash Bros. without Mario. How would he fight? Er. You can't really fiddle about with time in a multiplayer fighting game, can you? Apart from his Final Smash Indie Attack, which imagine slows everyone down. So, basic hitting people moves, I guess, including ones that freeze people's movements briefly for combo potential.

Why them? They need a good kicking. How would they fight? They wouldn't, because they are pointless, just like their game.

| I was going to say The Traveller but I honestly couldn't think how they would play and Sony own the Journey IP that I didn't think The Traveller would count.

| Whacking people with its scarf? Cooking up sandstorms? I dunno, I've never played Journey.
And you're probably right, Mas, that Journey doesn't count as indie. I'd like to have CoL's Aurora in there, but she's from UbiSoft, and I simply don't think she qualifies. |

| You would love Journey, Balla
But the game is a grey-area as thatgamecompany are a independent studio who made journey but it was part of a three game deal with Sony and take the HD version on PS4 was done by another company who Sony shipped it off to.
Child of Light is clearly not indie as everything is Ubisoft but I can think of a few games that are grey-area. |

| - Mi (Knytt Underground):
Why her: Because Knytt Underground is an indie game I like. What? How would she fight? She'd be Olimar-esque as, from her own personal skillset, there's nothing there - she can run, jump, and climb. However, she can transform into Bob for Sonic-esque bounce attackes (which, of course, you all knew), and, if the magic spell thingies can be brought to her (if we can bend the rules of the original game a bit), then electric projectiles can happen. Also, if the game would have some kins of V-Trigger/Final Smash element, you've got Dora and Celia's barbed-wit conversation attack. Actually, I'm quite pleased with myself

| Red Riding Hood- Spoiler:
Why her? WORTH 66P! And no reviews on the eShop yet, so it must be good. How would she fight? In typical "Adventure, Education, Other" style (nintendo.co.uk's words, sadly not mine).

| We don't seem to have any villains in our Indie game,
I've been trying to think of some for days but the indie games I've played have been more about the story, emotions and atmosphere then anything. |

we've got Tim.

How she'd fight She'd batter people with her inexplicable guitar, and otherwise have the advantage of being a real human fighting little chibi sprite characters. Final smashYeah, this needs another spoiler...
- Legit Actual Spoilers for Her Story:
For her final smash, her opponent gets their throat cut with a piece of broken mirror by, depending on your interpretation, either her secret twin or her alternate personality.
