If you could have one super power...

Ok nice simple one here, but i'm looking for some good, well thought out responses.

If you could have a super power, what would it be, and how would you use it?

Think of the pros and cons to having this power also. GO!

Assuming we're not allowed to cheat, with things like "omnipotence" and "the power to give myself powers", and ruling out Telikenesis because extrapolated far enough it can be pretty indistinguishable from omnipotence, I'd have to go with flight. Now sure, without strength or invulnerability or anything on top of flight, I wouldn't be able to do Superman levels of heroics, but I'd be able to help some people and I'd be able to fly. Soaring through the skies, the freedom, the solitude... it'd be amazing.

There was a lady on Heroes that Sylar, inevitably, murdered who had the power to tell if someone was lying or not. That would be a nice one; full mind-reading would probably be horrifying.

However the consequences of that would be, would you really want to know what people REALLY thought of you? Even those that loved you most? Knowing the truth might be handy, but the consequences of that might be hard to swallow.

The ability to stop time. It'd probably have limitations (maybe I could only stop time for up to 6 hours at a time before needing to rest, or something) but the ability to give myself a breather or to give myself more time to study up on something would be invaluable. Although, I wonder if that would mean I'd age much quicker than everyone else due to my timebending malarkey.

I'd go with time control powers.

Like being able to stop it or rewind time to correct any mistakes. I would of course completely exploit this for means of making money.

Like during a game of Poker in a casino I could freeze time then check my opponents cards and which cards are due to come next etc. Or watch the result of a roulette spin, rewind time to place my bet on the winning number.

Plus I could like stop time to have extra naps during the day without people judging my lazy behaviour.

Much though I like time-stoppery, I'd go with invisible flight. Unpowered flight would be gorgeous, but I wouldn't want anyone else to see me doing it now would I?

Yeah - as soon as any military spotted you, you'd be hunted down and experimented on if flight was your power.

You could just dress up as a bird or something Balla, that'd do the trick.

I do like the idea of being able to turn invisible, perhaps that would be my superpower! I could sit in on conversations and people wouldn't know I was there. I guess the downside to it is that people might be able to hear me or might bump into me...so it isn't too great.

Or maybe I can shrink down like Ant Man! Being tiny would have a lot of hazards but it could be cool to see the world from a different perspective.

I didn't want to pick invisibility because the first thing I think whenever someone picks invisibility is that they're going to use that power to be a dirty bugger.

I've got no fear of spiders at this size. Ant-size, however...

Incidentally, the superpower I want most emotionally is just to go full porcupine.  To be able to just sprout spikes that really hurt anyone else but don't affect me.  That's the one I've imagined myself with most often.

To be fair, so did I.. but I wouldn't necessarily use it for THAT reason!

But imagine if you drop your keys down a crack or money, and you can just get it back again?

Honestly, that's the only reason I'd pick invisibility. Sometimes you need a bit of peace and quiet, y'know?

Yes! It was one of the poorest films I've ever seen.

And my truth-telling power would be activated when I wanted it to be (i.e. at work/the courthouse), not a permanent feature.
