| With the recent Nintendo Direct we saw Super Mario Maker make it's way from the Wii U to the 3DS (I wonder if this was the rumoured re-release and not a NX version) and Yoshi Woolly World as well. SMM has had some changes due to the limitations of the 3DS hardware but YWW has seemingly gained more content, this isn't the first time both system have shared games as both have SMASH4 and Hyrule Warriors for instance. You could even argue that some other games are very similar by being sequels, which all makes the 3DS a great system but what else could Nintendo bring over from the Wii U to the 3DS. I know Cappa has said else where before that some games would have bettered fitted the 3DS and some the Wii U mind. The game I'd like most to see but not sure if the 3DS could handle it, is... I wouldn't change much at all with the game due to the touchscreen of the 3DS, it should translate perfectly fine.

| If we're talking pure Wii U to 3DS, then my top candidate would be Tropical Freeze. It would be such a laugh* if that's what Retro had been working on all this time... |

| I'll be blunt: there aren't any games on the Wii U left that are good enough that this would work...
...but they don't have to be good enough, do they? They could be bad because the Wii U made them bad (in my opinion). So my choice is most definitely Star Fox Zero: there seemed to be a good game beneath those controls! |

| Oh! We're talking Wii U (shouldn't forum when half asleep)..
In that case for the Wii U maybe a portable Splatoon or something wouldn't be too bad, otherwise I have no idea, have also thought that I'd like to see Wind Waker on the 3ds but I doubt that'd be possible |

I was going to say "none, I've got both consoles, stoppy stoppy stop stop"; but actually SF0 with both screens adjacent to each other would make much more sense. |

| We could open it to all Nintendo systems like how Shanks started off
I would like to seen Sunshine on either system in some sort of updated version and SMG, I have hope for a HD version on the NX for that.
Balla with the claws out, surely there has to be some good games that would work on the 3DS fine.
@Jimbob most of us do have both consoles but Nintendo as a business has a large install base on 3DS and it might be cheap way to get game on the 3DS for a while by porting over from Wii U or over systems which 90% of the 3DS install base hasn't been able to play. |

| Hopefully absolutely nothing gets ported next. Make new games instead of s*** tier ports for games where integral features are stripped out I say. As for Star Fox 0, you just know if they did happen to port that one they'd tie aiming to the gyro or something absolutely ridiculous like that. I wouldn't normally come down so hard on ports, in fact if timed right I think they can be great. Problem is these are less cases of hard to find games reaching a potential new generation and more blatant cases of the execs at Nintendo going "aw crud, these games didn't sell enough, better throw them on the 3ds and see if we can get a few more sales!" Plus in the case of Mario Maker it's Nintendo yet again squandering potential, and I really get sick and tired of seeing them do that. |

| Question then Athrun would you want a team maybe working on a NX game right now, to be working on a new (not that new 3ds) 3DS game instead? |

Well yes, for the most part this is my stance. I'm working within the confines of the thread here. - Athrun888 wrote:

Leave the despair to the anime thread please. |

| Same question to you really Balla, as myself don't want ports especially as I own both consoles but I get from a business standpoint why and I'd sooner they do ports now and work on new games for NX then us have a dry spell again like with Wii U and 3DS after launch. |

| I'll let Athrun answer that one, I find myself dissolving into a puddle when I try to respond to a post that contains 'from a business standpoint'. |

| I didn't think you'd be a fan of the thread Jas but I thought it was worth talking about seeing the games both systems share and 2 of the big 3DS games coming are ports of Wii U games.
Yeah I know peeps aren't of the business standpoint but sometimes it is for the best in the long run which for this hopefully means better NX at launch and beyond. |

| It wouldn't work at all because the visuals were such a big part of the appeal, but I would probably have enjoyed Xenoblade Chronicles X a lot more if I had it on a handheld and could just mindlessly play on buses and that.
On the other hand, I wish Monster Hunters 4 and Generations could have been on Wii U. |

| Athrun's right, bollocks to ports. Are there any Wii U games that would be improved by being on 3DS?
Conversely, I wouldn't mind if Luigi's Mansion 2 and Kid Icarus: Uprising made their way to the Wii U. The former would be superb on hardware that truly does it justice, while the latter just absolutely begs for those two analog sticks. |

That is an adorable dog Jas. Yeah I wish that dog was mine, always wanted a bulldog too. --- You suggesting an NX port for MH Generations? I think that will be a possibility & I'd absolutely love to play that game with a normal controller. |

| XCX actually, but that could work too. Although it goes without saying that I'd rather see XCY (and MH5). |

| I think there's a lot of unnecessary hate for ports, it's not like they're taking the main focus from a studio, half the time they're done by smaller studios and in some cases (like Sly)it gives them the practice to make their own game. It's up to me wether I want to buy it or not and the port is more likely to fill a whole in the release dschedyule so they can work on the next big entry (See the rumoured Assassin's Creed Ezio Trilogy).

| I thought this argument might come up. The thing for me is, I'd rather see the developer who spent time and effort, and the Nintendo money spent on him/her, putting Poochy into YWW3D doing almost anything on a new game. It's not a choice between 'port/new game', but it's not a choice between 'port/nothing' either. |

| Unfortunately, a tiny part of a bigger game, or a small side project, won't make as much money or provide as much insight as porting something fully featured. |

| Again, though, that's 'from a business standpoint'. I know that's why they do it, but if I'm being asked my preference, I'd rather they didn't. |

| I quite liked the look of the Poochy levels - a gauntlet run like Cloudberry Kingdom only much, much gentler. I'm personally happy for ports to exist as long as a), they add something to the original, and b), the devs eventually make something original. My point centres around Grezzo: known for porting them there Zeldas to 3DS but now have the lush-looking Ever Oasis in the works.

Yeah, I know. But I think it probably mostly benefits us with very minimal real downsides, and until the beast that is Capitalism is finally slain, I'm not gonna worry about it too much. |
