| There's something in 'if it ain't broken...' But I'd like to have seen new areas, like Skytown and the Sanctuary Fortress, and moves like the Screw Attack and such, only without the purple. |

| By the looks of it, the reason seems to be the same as mine for Melee or Double Dash (My number 11) the multiplayer memories. |

I would've said 2 was a highlight. I've got to admit, I assumed that everyone's lists would work out about the same - I'm surprised to see such a variety. I'll have a go: - Bubbling Under:
Beyond Good and Evil - a bit naughty as I only played the HD version on t'360. Not quite Zelda, and in some places a bit rudimentary-looking, but the characters are more likeable than most other games Resident Evil - When I first got my GameCube, it was actually my mum who wanted to get this - and not play it - and watch me play it. But it makes the original version look like the joke it was; this was genuinely intense, only improved by... Resident Evil 4 - Again I sneak this in as I played the Wii version. But you know this is awesome.
- 10:
Pikmin 2 - I know a lot of people were disappointed the time limit from the original was scrapped. Not me - being able to hunt for treasure without the sorry of having to undo a day's work made this much more enjoyable than the original.
- 9:
Mario Kart: Double Dash!! - I love the Ska opening (like many games, left on a loop after a lazy multiplayer session where no-one can be arsed to get up and switch the console off) this was the best Mario Kart, only beaten by its successors
- 8:
Super Smash Bros. Melee - This is when Smash Bros. became a "proper game" - my sister and I put hundreds of hours into this, almost definitely more than the next two games in the series.
- 7:
Wario Ware: Mega Party Games - I don't think Wario's bettered this since, with the original set of mini-challenges, not sullied by a control gimmick. Collect 5! "collect 5 what?"
- 6:
Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy - Another one I really played on Wii - Ssshh! Simple enough to toddle round, but the way the Lego team handle those scenes without dialogue is comedy genius.
- 5:
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time - I'm surprised this hasn't come up more often. Took an influential, but admittedly mechanically very dated, franchise, and set the modern standard for all of your Tomb Raiding and Uncharting. Come to think of it, this is another game my mum wanted. She should probably run metacritic or something.
- 4:
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door - I hate turn-based RPGs, but I very nearly finished this. If you think back to all of the story elements that are in this game... you'd assume your memory's gone doolally and are in fact remembering about 6 or 7 different games. Nope - there's so much going on in this, and the characters haven't been beaten.
- 3:
The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker - Beautiful game (I don't know if you've heard about the graphics guys) and a massive world, perhaps ruined slightly by that fact that optional side-areas all tend to be a bit samey.
- 2:
Chibi-Robo! - This game fools you at first by making you think that your primary goal is to pick up rubbish. What unfolds is a magical story that I can't begin to describe here - GET IT PLAYED. Did try and get it mentioned in the last NGamer... but I did use the word c***s.
- 1:
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - Like Cappa, I have to confess a confession: I played the Wii version, and then the HD WiiU version. However, given the latter is the graphically spruced up version of the Cube iteration, I have to say that I've enjoyed my time in this particular hyrule a lot more with the avoidance of shaking my clicky rapidly-aging wrist around.

[/spoiler] It's got fantastic variety of choice, with every meaningful genre well represented in it's library, so I'm not all that surprised. It's good to see stuff like Def Jam Vendetta and Timesplitters 2 being mentioned - you could only dream of having third-party games of that high quality on the Wii U. Viewtiful Joe doesn't seem to have mentioned by anybody though... |

| Really enjoying this thread. If only I'd kept up with it properly. @Balla: all the GameCube games on my list are ones I bought and played through the Wii. @Drunka: thanks, man! I was pretty pleased that I could put a decent ten together. - Thoughts on Cappa's list:
I love Jungle Beat - the inventiveness on display is amazing. Sadly, only played the New Play Control version. Also, believe you me, I am mad keen to play the original Chibi-Robo!
- Thoughts on mas's list:
Got a little time with Soul Calibur II but not enough to justify it being on the list. I do like me a good one-on-one beat 'em up. Or whatever the heck they're called at the moment. [/oldman]
Thoughts on OR's list: any list with FSA in it is a friend of my list! May have said that before, but it's worth repeating: lovely little game. - Thoughts on Jas's list:
Interesting top spot choice! I've (inevitably) not played enough of MP2 to rank it, even with the Trilogy version. One day...
Thoughts on EofGizmo's list: really glad to see a game in there for love. It's the same reason that I'm fond of NES Open Tournament Golf - just played it with the right people. Top stuff. - Thoughts on Jimbob's list:
Interesting to see some of the usual suspects sandwiched around some less usual choices. Further evidence - if yet more was needed at this stage - of the width of the GC library. Now, Nintendo, get it on the NX VC so that I can properly catch up!
Final note for this post: if I'd allowed myself GC games that I'd played Wii versions of, then Metroid Prime, Jungle Beat, Resident Evil 4 and Twilight Princess would be in my Top Ten for sure. It felt wrong to do so, though, particularly as all of the above had massive changes to accommodate Wii controls. |

Sorry! ~ I'd like to play Chibi-Robo! again, but I'm a bit fearful that my memories of it paint a rosier picture than what it was actually like. It was definitely the right game for the time and place though - when I bought it, I'd finished academy earlier that week and had uni to look forward to about four months later. All I did that summer was play football in the sun during the day, go underage drinking at night, look forward to Still Game series 5 and play Chibi-Robo!. Superb! Now? It might be a bit mince. It's personality carried it a long way, I'm sure of that. |

| Viewtiful Joe is right near the top of my list of game's I must play. I'll be playing a potential list shaker tomorrow- My friend's Katie and Jake are bringing the Game Boys, the cables and Four Swords Adventure.
I'll have proper responses to people's lists at some point, but Ive had about 10 hours sleep since I got out of bed at 7am on Friday and I just got home from a full shift at work, despite only getting back the country this morning. I should go to sleep but I think I've forgotten how. |

| I'm glad we didn't do a vote for this.
What we probably should do though, is tally everyone's non-vote opinions on their top 10 GameCube games, and, from that data, work out what are the top 10 GameCube gam-*shot* |

| There’s a lot of love for Paper Mario: TTYD which I was aware of, but didn’t realise it was so popular here. I’ve put it on temporary hold as the Puni’s and that ruddy tree are annoying me with all the back-tracking. Pretty sure there’s a boss imminent, but this is where I stopped playing originally. One of those psychological walls that I seem to meet in certain games.
Mas will be pleased to know that I have started Beyond Good & Evil HD, which so far I am enjoying. Snapping the animals is more fun than I thought and it all feels so smooth and enjoyable to play.

| The Punis were not my favourite chapter. That was the next one, and I would encourage you to press on through. I'm fine with the backtracking though, it's all a bit Metroidvania. |

| I really really do mean to post in this thread, but the time I need to set aside to actually think up and consequently draft my list is putting me off doing it. Wednesday is my day off, so I think I'll jump in and get my list out to the masses then. |

| I started my short list, got 3 games on it then had to stop. I'll do it one day... That's the problem of a non-vote thread, don't feel like there's any rush! Same issue with my own thread |
