| Just read a post elsewhere and it be nice Jayman get their lists up and Balla can do his adding up.
Could this format be done for other retro systems? Best Virtual Boy game clearly has to be done. |

| Also, I've recently said elsewhere Fire Emblem has aged from the 8 or 9 chapters I've played. Sure it might suddenly become a banger but I've given it a good go.
But hey nostalgia etc why OoT and FFVII still show up in Top 10's. |

| OoT is a deservedly top rated game with or without nostalgia |

| I would personally say so as well, but those two are to of the better examples of games that are always top rated regardless when you may have played last. |

| Just seems it to me, again I've got no nostalgia for it what so ever.
First I thought it was due to playing Three Houses but Persona 3 seems way newer and playable. |

| That doesn’t make sense Mas, if anything PoR has more complexity than 3 houses. The only bit that’s missing is the walking round campus bit, that’s not an aging problem, that’s that PoR is a true strategy game, it’s not trying to be a life sim.

The thing is we're not going to agree, I'm coming from a place playing first time in 2019 and I guess you from 2005, that plays often. |

| We're old. We're all old. The GameCube is old too.
It is, I maintain, the oldest 3D machine where the games still hold up in the light of modern day fully (the SNES still does okay because it's 2D), but that could be just because it's from my childhood. And I'm old now. |

| That's hard to disagree as the overall GameCube library would hold up better than the other three of that gen but I do feel they have games that hold up still.
Same with the N64, PS1 (Saturn still but 2D I feel more then 3D) but then again am I saying that because I've played those games and if I hadn't played them would I think they may have aged?
EDIT
Some reason this has posted three times |

| Gamecube library definitely aged best from that era. Titles like Viewtiful Joe, Okami and a lot of the SEGA titles have aged well too, largely because they chose a more colourful art style.
It's hard to believe that the Gamecube is nearly 18 years old. It is a new feeling, seeing Monkey Ball and Pikmin approach that 20-year age and still hold up, whereas most N64 titles looked haggard 10 years after their release. Only highlights the sheer jump that took place between the 5th and 6th generations and one could argue that the Gamecube's legacy lived on through the Wii (a slightly more powerful Cube) all the way up to 2012.

| Super Smash Bros Melee Wind Waker Metroid Prime Pikmin Resident Evil 4 Viewtiful Joe Super Mario Sunshine Metroid Prime 1 Animal Crossing Zelda Collector's Edition
No particular order but Melee is my number 1.
I gave up on Pikmin when I was younger - did enjoy it mind - but only got around to completing it a year or so ago and I loved it. Felt so accomplished completing it in one playthrough with some days to spare. I used to hate the day limit and liked 2 (another game which I didn't complete when I was younger) for removing it, but I changed my mind: I think it really makes the game as you have to carefully consider all your actions. Ramps up the tension Majora's Mask style.
I liked the entry logs between each day. If I recall correctly, they were all or were mostly unique. I suppose it may have depended on what you achieved on the day, if anything. Later on the in the 30 day cycle, Olimar starts to go a little crazy. It's almost a little dark for a Nintendo game. And then there's the bad ending.
Some enemies were pretty annoying but I guess it made overcoming them that much more satisfying. In general I really liked exploring new areas and seeing what weird new creatures would pop up and what real world items I'd have to salvage.
As for Zelda Collector's Edition, it's maybe a bit of a weird choice as it is just a collection of older games but at the time it was a big deal for me, and at the time it seemed like a big deal for others as well. It was a way for me to finally have a copy of Majora's Mask for myself. Granted it's the most crash-prone version of the game, but along with the other games it was 60hz and a higher res compared to the N64 originals. Enjoyed replaying OoT and trying out the first two games. So, two of my most favourite games of all time and then two NES games to boot.
Honourable mentions:
F-Zero GX - I liked this one but barely played it. I guess I got my fill from F-Zero X which was excellent.
Mario Kart Double Dash - I used to really like this but now I don't have particularly strong feelings for it. It has a charm to it and the character selection is nice, but otherwise against the rest of the series it's not particularly strong in any regard. Bob-omb blast is a good if overrated mode as it's a bit of a clusterfuck.
Prince of Persia - Really liked this back in the day. Still has great platforming and puzzles but fairly meh combat, which got me bored of it when I tried to replay it a few years back.
Pokemon Coliseum - still sort of on a playthrough to finally complete this one and I think it's pretty neat. I like that it's similar to the mainline pokemon games but has a very different feel to it and an interesting capture mechanic. The locations, characters and writing are distinctly not Game Freak. But yeah, got nowhere near close enough to completing it.
Super Monkey Ball 1/2 - I think these probably would make the cut if I played them more. They are really good.
WarioWare - Also really good but have only played bits of it at friends' houses.
Haven't played but would probably like a lot:
PM TTYD Killer 7 Viewtiful Joe 2 maybe

| The entirety of Double Dash is a clusterfuck, that’s what’s so great about it! Good list, although the exclusion of TTYD is a travesty, natch. I personally think Mêlée has been rendered irrelevant by later games, but I understand that my cynical retrospective view is not shared by all. JAAAAAAAAAAY |

| I’d remembered that the GameCube’s European twentieth anniversary was coming up this month - it's just past earlier this week. I’d prepared a new list with my top thirty games on the ggapp.io website that gjones showed us in the 'Top 5/10/20/50' thread: I think it looks a bit empty without the Zelda, Metroid and Resident Evil games that you see on every other GameCube list. That said, I didn’t get round to playing them on GameCube and I’ll almost definitely play them elsewhere in the future. I don’t think there’s anything I’ve accidentally left out though. F-Zero GX might have been 31st, I didn’t bother playing either Pokemon RPG and I didn’t think Paper Mario was up to all that much when I tried starting it up a few times in the past. I’d like to give Eternal Darkness another shot soon, I don't remember enough about it from back in the day. I might make time for that nearer Halloween. |

I think it's refreshing, if anything. It also highlights how necessary it is to have a strong selection of 8/10 or 9/10 titles on a Nintendo platform, because if you don't get on with a Zelda or Metroid it can potentially be slim pickings. That top six looks legit (although I personally have no interest in Animal Crossing). The rest has some spiciness, certainly. Lots of questions... Viewtiful Joe 2 not 1? I never played the sequel but I rarely hear it mentioned. I liked Beach Spikers at the time but pretty sure I traded it in soon after, as there wasn't much game there outside of multiplayer. How come it made your list? NBA Street is such a great series. I never played 3 - was it better than 2 or similar enough? Day of Reckoning 2 is a game I was always envious of, looking back. I think it was a later release, 2005 maybe? How does it stack up compared to the PS2 games? NHL Hitz is a proper left-field choice, but now I'm curious. Pretty sure you reviewed it on here - I'll fire up an emulator and see what's what. Was this one you played at the time or retrospectively? Where would you put Super Monkey Ball 2, or was it too similar to feature? That is all, your honour. |

| I do not think I'd be able to make it to a top 30. Top 20 maybe? I was a clueless child who knew nothing about games. Some quality titles in those list, although the lack of Metroid Primes concerns me. |
