| I noticed myself being pretty negative lately. 2016 is getting to me, I suppose. Then Jay posted this gif in another thread: Shigeru is just a bloody lovely man, isn't he? Sometimes I get caught up in my hatred for big business and start worrying about the apparatus that brings me videogames, the same one that is killing the planet, and I forget how much I love playing games. I forget that despite how disks might make their way to my house, lovely games are created by lovely people. The sheer joy of running and jumping and playing in a Mario game exists because of this wonderful, childlike man. His big grin and his infectious sense of fun and wonderment . . . if the world were populated by more Shigsys, it would be a much nicer place. Jamming on his guitar See, the one bit of this I don't like is when Fallon shoehorns himself in Mario myths A cheeky, funny performance from the big man On the making of 1-1 A rare insight into the ingenious thought process of the man So yeah, share the love of the big guy! |

| That 1-1 video is recommended viewing for anyone on this forum. Fascinating viewing.
Here's another moment of Shigsy being a good sport. |

| My threatening cold of a few days ago has mutated into a full-blown lurgy, so all I can do is say "YES" and promise to come back to the thread. |

| I forgot about that pic, Jas! It's like he actually believes that when he gets into the barrel, he'll shoot off into space. Heck, knowing Mr. Miyamoto, he probably will. - Spoiler:

That video is only let down byhow much Kojima outdid him the next year. - The_Jaster wrote:

I genuinely chuckled when my eyes scanned across that picture and spotted him back there. @Zero: All of Shigsy's performance in that classic reveal is Legendary. |

That said, people might be amused to see the framed picture of Shigsy on my living room wall, or the portrait of him that's in my GCSE art book . . . |

| Here's Shigsy talking Apple and not retiring. The man still has fun with his games, and that's wonderful. |

Never change Miyamoto-san. Remember when Miyamoto spending time in his garden resulted in Pikmin? Or adventuring in the Japanese countryside becoming The Legend of Zelda? What does the cat hammock spell for the Nintendo Switch? |

| A game themed around the magic of dreams. Feline dreams. So it'll be rated 18 for violence. |

| *surreptitiously adds "Going 'waaaaah' for an hour for no reason", "Failing to decide if I want to stay in this room or go through the door my human is holding open for me because I scratched at said door for ages, for ages", "Going utterly mental for ten minutes" and "Eating raspberries, spinach leaves, hair bobbles and bread"*More seriously, I have a dream about a game where you play as a kitten. Ability upgrades come in the form of higher jumps, being able to grip to surfaces for a short time, balancing on progressively tinier things, and just basically what happens when a kitten naturally grows up. It sounds better in my head. |

Fun fact time! The reason cats do this is that their brains can't visualise how things they can't see fit together. They don't understand that what is on the other side of a door is always the same, or that two rooms they can't see fit together. I think their prowling, hunting method relies on them visualising everything as one trail or path, rather than a whole map. They'd be better at Super Mario 3D Land than Sunshine, appropriately. Can't remember the podcast/ article where I heard that, and I probably butchered a lot of the science. |
