PostSubject: Re: A Switch in Time (General Switch Chat II)   A Switch in Time (General Switch Chat II) - Page 19 EmptySat 13 May 2017 - 15:33

Bought two games prior to making the journey to Newcastle, at very different paces.

Snake Pass feels either like a nice nostalgic throwback or too slow-paced, I can't tell yet. Snake's a bit fiddly, as you might expect, but what really gets me is the camera moving the opposite direction to the one I'd expect. But it looks nice, I'm enjoying doing some proper 3D platforming for the first time in ages, and the music's like DKCTF-lite, which is good.

Fast Racing RMX is definitely not too slow-paced.

Argh, I wish you'd said: I've been wanting to have a go on Snake before I pony up the pennies myself.

On a similar note, I will definitely be splashing some cash on Jackbox for any upcoming party scenarios.

Seconding that. I have some people around my flat regularly-ish for book club, I'll be getting them quizzing away for sure.

That's another one I'll be looking to pick up, certainly! The Switch eShop is looking pretty damn good at this early stage. Grin

It's amazing how rapidly it's filling with gems. Genuinely making me consider unsubscribing from playstation plus since that old thing almost hasn't had single a look from I since the switch came out

Went and got Jackbox, didn't I? Had a good laugh last night, lots of answers that reminded me why I'm leaving Somerset. The best bit was actually a round of Tee KO if you can believe it: we started it just as two of my friends were having a full-on domestic over the stupidest argument, and ended up with lots of shirts mocking the dumb shit they were saying. Luckily they saw the funny side when they came back into the room . . .

Owlboy looked good when Jimminy Jim Jim Sterlzboids was playing it, will definitely give it a look when I'm done with Shovel Knight and Kamiko.

@Muss: I will definitely not be renewing XBox Live at the end of the year, whether I keep the XBox and stay in the UK a little longer or not. I don't play online anywhere near enough to justify it and the free games haven't been able to draw me away from the Switch.

We talking 'offensive without being funny' here? That's the impression I get from what you've said about your fellow countymen.

To be fair, there was some genuine wit and comedy but there was also some really trite "something racist/ sexist/ vulgar without context" stuff getting big wins.

Surely you're playing with your friends who gave those sort of answers or they trying to be funny?

Yeah, that's just their sense of humour but we live in a very small town and we're a pretty small bubble of all-white friends so that stuff rarely gets challenged.

I know when we've played Cards Against Humanity most of the answers end up similar but I think that might be the point though.

Always found it fun and this Quiplash sounds like it could be a similar laugh.

The difference is that Quiplash rewards originality and being funny/ witty yourself, whereas Cards against Humanity is just using pre-existing jokes and most of the humour relies on being "allowed" to say offensive things you wouldn't normally. I think CAH is great the first time you play it, but when you've seen all the cards the magic washes off really quick.

Each to their own.

We had different sets mixed in and blank cards with in jokes like Chicken Sandwich which to us was funny, whilst having some drinks during the period of waiting to play skittles.

Bypassing all of the Quiplash and CAH talk to comment on this lot - I think the cats could be a bit more cat-like (if that's the "hook") but it looks totes adorbs, and I think I'll take a peek.

And no-one booed that owl pun. Duh!
