E3 is only 3 months away and one of the big things to likely to come out of it is info on Project Scorpio and what will it be.
I thought it might be a bit of fun with a sort of prediction and that in the style of design the NX/Switch thread.
My thinking is they won't call it Scorpio as like Durango, Natal they are just codenames also I think they will drop the One name as quickly as possible to signal it's not the same system like how PS4 Pro is still a PS4 and that it is something new.
That I'm thinking it will be called
I think it may have THE in front of it and that logo THE would be on top in smaller letters to the Xbox logo but I honesty think will be The Xbox much like Apple had iPads numbered then one was just the iPad or something like that.
A few other thoughts it will be £400+ and launch with Crackdown 3, Forza Motorsport 7 and Sea of Thieves as some weird free to play title with it all coming out around November 17th worldwide which is a week before Black Friday, Thanksgiving and it is still in the the time period of Scorpios.

The Y-Box. Why? I believe and I cannot tell a lie that "why" is the question you should ask yourself if you think this will be a true jump to the next generation.

(Windows) 10 reasons why:
1. Losing - We may not care about the Console War and if you own a Xbox One as your main system you'll likely won't care either as long as you are getting games but with the Xbox One on about 28-30m and the PS4 on about 55-60m a time has to come you have to do something. Spencer has even said the Console Wars is over ages ago, and if I was in charge of Xbox I would want to be winning as I would feel worked I hard on making this system what it is and want it to be a success.
2. Timing - Up-in-till the last generation a console was replaced on a average every 5 years with some exceptions GameCube 4 years, OG Xbox 4 years, Wii U after 4 and bit years this very month has been replaced with Nintendo's next system. The Xbox One will be 4 years old in November, and I truly believe the only reason the last generation lasted so long was due to the financial crisis.
3. Out First - Similar to above but the last few generations we've had mixed results with systems launching first be it the Dreamcast in 1999 with the rest coming out in 2000 & 2002 then in 2005 the Xbox 360 came out with the other two coming in 2006 & 2007 which really helped the Xbox 360 get a foothold, surely it would eventually be past by the other two.
Also we had the Wii U launching a year before the PS4 & Xbox One but it could help.
4. Games - If you read my article and seen on the net that a vocal group of Xbox fans have been moaning about the lack of Xbox One Exclusive games. Their might be many reasons. Spencer on the cancellation of Scalebound and the closure of studios like Lionhead has said people don't buy those games on Xbox One that they can't continue to invest in things that will lose money.
This of course means less studios and less of a output as you can't have a mainline Halo every single year but also another reason why we've not seen anything for a while is to have stuff ready to go for Scorpio.
5. Launch - One of the Xbox high ups Greenberg has stated that the launch line up of games will have to be native 4K, to me if this was upgrade then he would have said something like we have plans to have a bunch of games to take advantage of Scorpio, not what sounds like a console launch.
6. PS4 Pro - The PS4 Pro came out what will likely be 12 months before the Scorpio, has it set the world on fire the answer is No as Sony would be talking about it if they did as they releases numbers for PSVR for instance but not Pro.
It is for the truly hardcore which is a small percentage as back in early 2016 their was about 1.5m 4KTVs in the wild, lets say that's doubled to 3m, now how many of those 3m plays games and want a 4K console. Then take in account that the Xbox One is likely to have less people that want a 4K upgraded then PS4 if it sold to Xbox One owners as a upgrade.
To me MS would have looked at the PS4 Pro used this time since to react according to the market. Which can be seen on the current White Papers for Scorpio, which now doesn't mention VR once but VR was talked about at GDC and that games don't have to be in native 4K (Current add does say VR and Native 4K). This may mean lots of things that it is less powerful then what was announced and now they can make it cheaper which means it be more PS4 Pro like but the specs in the White Paper are still leaps almost a generation leap ahead of the Xbox One, PS4, Wii U, Switch and PS4 Pro.
7. Spencer - Now I don't look at all his tweets or listen to every thing he says but he has gone on record he has played Scorpio games, much like that Xbox high up Greenberg. To me he would have I've been playing some new games are studios are working on and can't wait to sure you or along those lines.
8. Developers - Much like that Titanfall 2 Dev who was rather honest in his opinion of the Switch even though very unprofessional we've had similar from a MS Second Party studio Moon Studios with the head honcho in a interview talking about the PS4 Pro that it was a half assed pointless upgrade and that Project Scorpio won't follow the same path and that it will be a next generation systems which is 100% backwards compatible everything on Xbox One / Anywhere which the current add also says as well. He's not the only one to say similar things but as a Second Party his words carry abit more weight.
Also would look a bit stupid if it was a just a upgrade now and Greenberg did say they are looking at you take your game library (100%) forward with you ever each generation.
9. This & Other - We got this in a new update from GDC, Microsoft have also confirmed that the Xbox Scorpio is set to have access to an exclusive group of games.
Along with everything else I read, this will be like a PC or a Smart device with some games like Shadow of War a confirmed to be a Xbox Anywhere title which will work with Scorpio, just like PS4 Pro enabled game does now but Scorpio will get exclusive games much like PC in away.
My laptop at the moment can't play Quake Champions but can play Skyrim which I've got on STEAM, if I bought a new PC I would be able to play Quake Champions and Skyrim as it's in my STEAM library.
That if I've got 100 Xbox One games, on day one of Scorpio I will have 100 games that will play on it then I buy 20 Scorpio games then in 4 years time I buy Zero's Capricorn I can play those 100 Xbox one games and 20 Scorpio games on it and so on and so on....
10. Final Thoughts Yet like you said elsewhere Jas, MS could muddy the water as they very well may still say it isn't a next generation system and keep to the beyond generation slogan but having exclusive games which could be big ones like Halo 6 or like the rumour that Crackdown 3 is different depending on where you play it, sure isn't a exclusive but the whole destructible environments being cut from the game if played on a Xbox One would be a big deal or it might just be like the New 3DS which has exclusive stuff like VC, Indies and a few games but nothing to really shout about.
It still at the end of the day has to have a name.

It'll be called the Xbox Globex. The codename Scorpio was a clue to its real name all along.

Gotta second that, Hank Scorpio is Simpsons at its best.
As for my guess, XBox 10, then it'll be Xbox 100, XBox K, and so on. No real reasoning behind it, but XBox One was so dumb I don't know where you go from there.

Bit of both , really just wanted to put across the update from GDC about Scorpio having exclusive games it seems and I thought why not put a little bit more effort into it and have a Windows 10 reasons but with the big one left to last.

In an attempt to distance themselves from President Baked Beans' comment about Mexicans, it's going to be called the XBox Juan.

Brilliant. They could go for the XBox Ichi to try and woo the Japanese crowd. Scratch that.
On a more serious note, I can see them shying away from the generation thing. It will just be XBox and it will be a powerhouse Steam box, perhaps utilising the subscription model the Game Pass is doing.

Me and you on the same wave length gJones as if you read my final thoughts that's how they will get around the generation thing but still have exclusives and basically be their 9th generation system.
The Game Pass, I also think will become the standard for Xbox as well going forward like they wanted to do with the Xbox One to begin with and what EA, Ubisoft along with analyst's going thats how we will get games just like Netflix in the future.

Yesterday Digital Foundry announced the Scorpio specs and a few other bits of info, I've got some thoughts along with a breakdown on what happened.
Scorpio is a beast - like they said on DF this will be the most powerful system on the market and will be better then the PS4 Pro but however DF did say you pay for what you get and still brings up the vital thing games which the PS4 Pro still has the games with studios like Guerilla taking advantage of the system with Horizon Zero Dawn and there yet to see Scorpio games.
Backwards Compatible - Now this is a odd one as if I'm Joe Public and I see a video which DF is telling me how the Scoprio will improve my ONE & 360 library via backwards compatibility does make it seem like a new console, when DF also bring up things like Scorpio games and how they will work on a 1080p TV not just a 4KTV and how they've not seen a Scorpio game.
Now I think what he means on how he talked about the PS4 Pro is Horizon Zero Dawn is a PS4 Pro game as it has on it on the box and if you go into GAME, you'll see games with a sticker that says PS4 Pro enhanced. Then you have games on PS4 like Dark Souls III which isn't a PS4 Pro enhanced game but due to the power on the PS4 Pro and boost mode, DSIII runs better on Pro.
I'm not sure if that what DF means by backwards compatible as we've seen 360 games run better on ONE but they have had no patch or anything and we saw a screenshot of Forza 6 on Scorpio which DF said isn't a Scorpio game and now runs at 4K 60fps on Scorpio.
So we seen the benefits of games that aren't Scorpio enabled like we see with DSIII on Pro even though it's not Pro enabled or we maybe getting Scorpio only games or Shadow of Mordor that is confirmed for Scorpio comes out on Xbox One on a Xbox One disc and comes out on Scorpio on a Scorpio disc.
Devs - Scorpio is made differently, normally you get hardware and you make games for that. Where Scorpio is a system made for games and how they are made which MS hopes brings devs back they were with 360.
Now I don't know what they mean by that as the big boys like EA are their, Japanese teams weren't really their with the 360 and Square Enix have come out and said they are more focussed on making Switch games then Scorpio games again with making Scorpio games not Xbox One games which are Scorpio enabled ala FFXV on PS4 Pro, Indies which the 360 was great at but if I was a indie dev am I going to take the time to make a Scorpio game knowing at the moment it has to run on Xbox One and if it's multi-format going to make it run on the lowest specs which is the Switch maybe even the 360 still.
Other bits and thoughts - A guy at MS with a name that sounds like Baba has said that the whole 5 year console-cycle is dead and these refresh are the future as we've seen that with phones, how do you guys feel about that? Sony with the PS4 Pro said this is a mid-gen upgrade and House has said PS5 is coming but MS from what they've said heaved gone this is a mi-gen refresh but don't worry Xbox Two will still be a thing.
DF have said you're paying for what you get and some have tired to figure out by the specs how much it will cost and they've come up with $700 which is £676 with VAT etc. I can't see MS selling it for that much as that is a lot of money, I'm thinking £450 - 600 with anything close to £450 being fantastic as that is only £100 more then a PS4 Pro and makes the Scorpio look like a bargain compared to the PS4 Pro with that POWER! over it.
Spencer said on IGNs unlocked has said the Scorpio is premium system with a premium price for the premium user and I guess why they used DF to announce the specs and Spencer sees the One S as the system for the entry model to sell Ones . The problem is the One S is selling well but compared to the PS4 really isn't that I would like to see at E3 a official price drop to £199.99 maybe even less and have one system at a really good price and another at this premium price.
Apple do it with the iPad ones £400 and the other is like £600, I can't see why MS can't do that with their consoles.
Fundamentally DF said it at the start the Scorpio is the best system but it comes down to games and at the moment in my opinion, Xbox doesn't have the games with the cancellation of Scalebound and you just have to look on Wikipedia to see they have maybe 10 exclusives coming. The Switch is the least powerful, yet it is selling because it has games on it like Zelda which people want to play and games coming along with a unique idea.
Scorpio I think without doubt will have the best version of Red Dead Redemption 2 even if it is just like that Forza 6 screenshot and it's a Scorpio game but will Drunka find the game any different playing on Xbox One which would be the worst version, the answer is No.
I've got a PS4 Pro and I think it's great but it did only cost me £115 and I think Scorpio is also great from these specs, but I want to see at E3 the games that make Scorpio system to get and why they're so much better on Scorpio as if it's only £450 that is still £230 more then a One S at the moment.
I will get another Xbox One system as I want a UHD player and I will want to play Halo 6 but MS need to convince me who's got a 4KTV, a PS4 Pro that their will be more then just Halo 6 I want to play as a One S is good enough for that.
I'll still play my multiplatform games on PS4 as I like trophies and if their is something like Overwatch, then most people I know are playing on PS4 and things like Sonic Mania, I feel will work best on Switch due to the handheld nature of the system.
As for name, I'm not sure maybe Xbox Elite but their was a a Xbox One Elite already which might be confusing.

The problem with this expensive, powerful system is that it’s only aimed at a small percentage of the market. It’s not going to stop PC gamers doing their thing and it’s not going to attract somebody who just wants to play games, as they can get a PS4 a lot cheaper. The Xbox exclusive franchises are currently getting stale (Halo, Gears, Forza). They need something special and the Game Pass is a start. The PS4 has shown it has games coming out of its arse just in the first three months of this year, but also that it’s going to be around until 2020 at least. PC gaming is expensive but PCs also do zillions of other things – but most importantly, the insides are upgradeable. Not sure what they can do to lure Playstation owners to own one as well as a Playstation, as there can’t be many who’d pick an Xbox for the games over a Playstation.
They have fallen so far since the 360 days.

On the expense and targeting a small percent even Spencer has said that, and why I like to see the One S come down in price and gives the PS4 some real competition as it will attract people who just want to play games but then again where the Xbox is strong like the UK & USA, I don't know if it needs a price drop and like of Japan & Europe I'm not sure it would make a difference.
I still think we will see PS5 at the end of 2019 as that will be 6 years after release and Sony has said that sort of time frame isn't going away when PS4 Pro came out.
I don't know if Xbox has actually fallen since the 360 as I wrote article back when it turned 10 with the top 10 exclusives and it was dam hard to think of 10 which wasn't sequel after sequel and I remember people reading at work and going where was Modern Warfare 4, Red Dead, Skyrim.
No doubt they're great games and I played them on 360 but I seem them as 7th gen games not and the One has them now but so does the PS4, I talk to a mate in work about MGSV he played on One, I played on PS4 as it's a great 8th gen game.
Like I said I'm waiting to E3 but do agree the series like Gears and Halo are getting stale, with studios shutting down, games getting cancelled, MS not owning many studios and we sort know what their all doing and Spencer saying he doesn't want to deals like Rise of the Tomb Raider, Sunset Overdrive etc again as it not worth it, does make you think what can they show but they have so many great IPs sat around.
