| I think as Ryu and Ken have both light and heavy normal attacks depending on how long you press the A button, it can be easier to use a heavy attack by accident which doesn't flow as nicely into a special move. It's all about the light attacks with the Street Fighter lads. |

Who do you reckon we're getting, folks? |

So I'm going to say we are getting Dante.
I'd be very much up for Dante. He's one of those characters that should port to Smash really easily considering his four different styles. Up B - Trickster style, Sky Star technique. It's basically Pikachu's recovery move. Neutral B - Gunslinger style. Should work similar to Joker's gun. In fact, Joker being able to do that move in mid air and shoot downwards is pretty much a Dante move from DMC. Hmmm... Side B - I'd say Swordmaster, but I think his Stinger move is much more iconic. Down B - Royal Guard and it'll be a counter. Having said that... again, that's really similar to how Joker works. Hm. |

| All those moves certainly do fit together nicely but I think Sakurai could still come up with surprising moves for him. - masofdas wrote:

Stop trying to get all your anime waifus in the game, if Mai isn't getting in then none of these Koei tecmo ones will either. |

| My reasoning is it's a big Japanese company without anyone in the game and they work with Nintendo often, that if I was KT I would want someone in SMASH.
Personally was thinking Ryu Hayabusa |

| Looks like it'll probably be Dante, which was one of my predictions before the fighters pass came out. I remember writing a whole mock-up for his moveset for if he was to be in Smash, a few months before Ult came out hence the mention of custom moves which were scrapped, on Grcade: - Spoiler:
His jab would unique. I don't believe other smash characters have too much variance in their jabs - I know with Falcon you can do an alternate combo with a different timing - so with his jab I'd let him do several of his staple combos from DMC3/4 with consecutive A presses of different times/pausing in between some presses. (Don't know too much about Bayonetta, but apparently she only as one additional jab combo).
Forward-tilt - easily would be his standard swordmaster attack, spins his sword in front of him. Multi-hits to end a damage-combo as opposed to a kill-combo.
Up-tilt would be high time, an sword uppercut that lifts opponents for combos. Like in DMC, holding it will make Dante go up with the enemy, making follow-ups easier.
Down-tilt - While for simplicity's sake I imagine most of Dante's moves being carried out by his sword Rebellion (but there'd be room for other weapons with Custom Moves), I'll throw in a reference to Beowulf for his d-tilt. Just a sliding kick, similar to Cloud.
Neutral-air - Aeriel Rave, sword slashes which suspend him in mid-air.
Forward-air - Helm-breaker, falls down forward with his sword (like the falling part of Ike and Cloud's Up-B)
Down-air - Spins around upside-down while firing his guns. From DMC2 which is a pretty bad game, but that move did look cool, and it'd be a somewhat unique down-air.
Up-air - Upwards spinning attack with Cerberus, the ice-nunchucks. A bit unsure about this one, but again, I think it'd look cool.
Back-air - Shoots his guns behind him, inspired by his Gunslinger style.
Dash-attack - Stinger, plunging forward with his sword, and if you mash A while you do it, it transitions to Million-hit stab, a multi-hit stabbing move.
His smash attacks I'm not too sure about. Maybe they'd be carried out by Sparda, from the original DMC. Those attacks extended out and packed more of a punch than any other weapon in that game.
Neutral B - gunshots.
Side-B - Trickster, essentially teleport left or right, for recovering and general movement.
Down-B - Devil trigger, makes you stronger for a while and is charged similarly to Cloud's limit I guess. Up-B - idk, some sort of sword leap.
Maybe give him a grapple recovery based off his DmC grapples as well. Small shoutout to that game.
Costumes: his popular young Dante look from DMC3 would be his main design, then I guess his costume from DMC since it's had a couple of appearances. Not sure. Palette swaps that reference the other games if there isn't enough development time/desire for proper models.
These are mostly of the top of my head and I'd easily change a lot of this with more thought, but yeah, you could do a lot with Dante.
Have a similar issue to Jay where a couple of these moves just happen to be the same as Jokers like the twirly gun move, which is a shame because it's a good fit. 2B is what I really want but not getting my hopes up. |

| - 5th Fighter:
It's Byleth.
I loved FE:TH, so I'm not disappointed to see it represented, but I'd have preferred other characters over the player avatar. Fuck it, I'd have taken all three House Leaders, Byleth and Lady Rhea as a full Fighter Pass.

| Putting my reaction in a spoiler for now. - Spoiler:
This is a really lame end to the pass for me for a couple of reasons, fire emblem is already over represented in the game & yet again it's barely a character given that they're a silent protaganist in FE3H. (no idea if that changes since I haven't played the game) Those that have played it talk way more about all the other characters which would've been a much much better choice, let's take Drunka's 3 house leaders idea and imagine how they could've made a fire emblem style Pokemon trainer fighter instead...........but it is what it is and I never bought the pass anyway so I've actually saved money just buying the ones I liked the look of. (Terry, Joker & Banjo)

| Ah, that's a bit disappointing that - considering - Do we need spoilers? Everyone must know by now right:
there are now 8 Fire Emblem characters, who I'd argue are interchangeable pawns, and only 6 Zelda ones, 3 of which are Link - I already can't remember who's who
but I'm not about to send Mr. Sakurai death threats or anything - the rest of the pass has been very interesting indeed, and having Banjo and Kazooie back is beautiful. I don't regret paying early. Next 5: Toy Link (i.e. Link's Awakening Link, even though he's literally one of the others) Solaire Spinch Dizzy Another Fire Emblem character |

| I know that you're all bursting to know what I think about this fifth DLC character and it's reveal, but I'm afraid that my solicitor has advised me to not dignify this with a response. |

| An absolute duffer of an end to the pass. On the other hand, it means I really don't feel I've missed out on anything through not buying it, so that's... good? Seriously though, they have to be more self-aware then this... don't they? |

| Yeah, but... there's swordsmen (a type of fighting style), and then there's having eight characters from that franchise. I just... I don't... |

| Ach, I think the character looks like they'll be fun to play and that's what counts at the end of the day, right? I'd happily scrap the likes of Olimar who is utterly miserable to play as for someone who's actually satisfying to get good as. Still, I will admit I was a wee bit disappointed at this last character. If you recall back at last year's Game Awards, Reggie was giving it big licks about how this fighter pass will focus on characters you'd never have thought would be possible to see in Smash - which I'd say they fit the bill up until Fighter 5 - and then Sakurai was building hype at the start saying this character was a secret that even those at Nintendo would be surprised by. I genuinely thought we were getting Master Chief at that point. But then... well, that happened. Still, the moaning about "aw not another swordfighter" land on deaf ears with me as I think this looks like one of the most interesting characters yet. I didn't enjoy playing as Hero or Banjo, but I think I'll get on with this fighter. And hey, it's not like in Smash 4 where they asked if you'd be paying for the likes of Roy... |

| I guess they were playing on people thinking "they can't possibly add another Fire Emblem character", and the general direction of the pass built up the surprise. |
