3DS is officially over!

So everyone is picking this up right?

The link doesn't work, boss - was it by any chance this news story, in which a new downloadable Picross game is announced for the Switch and will be released next week?

Dead isn't exactly the term I'd use to describe a system still receiving major instalments from the system manufacturer. Just sayin.

It's possible that Andy just means the 3DS is dead to him? I mean, we've now got Picross S1-75775 to look forward to, so who'll have time to return to their 3DS?

In all seriousness, I think it's a great move. That makes three Switch games I'm going to buy before the end of the month (SteamWorld Dig 2 and FIFA 18) after having no reason to turn the Switch on for about a fortnight. From famine to feast!

I think it's pretty clear from the link in the OP that Andy was making a clickbaity title to advertise the transfer of Picross to the Switch...

I didn't buy the last few Picross E games, but you can bet I'll be picking this up. I'm definitely up for another hit of Picross!

Yeah, this is a definite purchase for me. I need to show others the power of Picross, and that wasn't possible on the little 3DS.

Balla has it pretty spot on, though this is probably the first game I'd consider to be a proper handheld game that the Switch has got, so one of the final nails in the 3DS coffin..

What about the half-dozen of games that can only be played in handheld mode?

Dead systems look like the Vita, or the Wii U.  If the 3ds was "dead" it wouldn't be available commercially right now, Nintendo do not continue to sell "dead" systems, in fact they have a history of immediately ceasing production of their systems when they have moved on.  Why the 3ds this year alone has been more active than the Wii U was for the entire last two years of its life, with two major games in the beginning of the year, a couple in the middle, and an exclusive main instalment in the Pokemon series to wrap up the year.  


When the Switch has actual reasons to be able to stake a claim to being the resident handheld machine, such as a main Pokemon game or Nintendo ceasing production of the 3ds then terms such as "dead" can be thrown around. Until then it's nothing more than hyperbolic nonsense.

It's opinion though along with sales.

I've not touched my 3DS (same goes for VITA part from playing P4DAN) all year and don't plan to as the Switch is my handheld of choice now and we've seen the likes of the Chicken Wiggle info.

Must admit, I got far more excited for this than is warranted by what is essentially the return of Picross e.  With the extra power of the Switch, you'd have thought they could at least have animations when you solve a puzzle.  Nope.

Also Zero will be thrilled to know that Mega Picross makes a return. And that the puzzle answers, once again, are the same as the normal Picross puzzles.

Yep I'm disappointed by this. Some might say I should have seen it coming, but for the franchise's leap to Switch, I don't think it's too much to expect something more than what I've seen here.

The new UI is pleasantly swish, I'll give them that. I've only played in handheld mode so far - and I'm getting Mega Blinking Picross out of the way first, so that I finish the game happy - so I'm keen to see how it looks on the TV.

I had a thought earlier. With apologies to Andy's directive to keep our chat in this thread to Picross only, but... didn't Jupiter have a hand in The World Ends With You? I'm now worried that this endless stream of Picross Letter games is preventing us from having The World Ends With Two.
