Nah, I want to do each game in full - no half measures, here! What MGS games do you reckon you can do? You're into MGS2, right?

As long as I get MGS 3, I'll do the ones you don't want. Oh, and I wouldn't mind doing the MSX Metal Gear games, as I've played both of those.
I was quite fancying MGS3 as well, but I don't mind leaving it out and I'll nab MGS1. And you can take the MSX games unless Mas fancies them! Both in one installment might do the job unless you reckon you can squeeze two weeks worth out of the MSX games.

To be fair, what a tune that is.

That tune is a belter and a half. Most Bayo tracks are, to be honest!
And wahey, Balla the durty!

Yeah, one for Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. Yay! MGS3! You can have 1, if Mas does want to do a proper week, he'll probably take 2 and that just leaves IV, V and Peace Walker.

Yeah I could do MGS2 or MGS4 and I've played bits of AC!D etc as well if you want to do a week with just the weird games in.

Sweet. So, here's an outline so far:
MG1+2 - Drunka MGS1 - Me MGS2 - Mas MGS3 - Drunka MGS4 - Me or Mas Peace Walker - ??? MGSV + Ground Zeroes - Any of us, I suppose.
Any preferences for the last few there lads? Obviously me and Mas are due two of those as we've only got 1 week so far, and then there's one to spare.

You'd be better at MGS4 Jay, and I guess we're only doing the core games then.

Also surely, with Bayo 1 now being out on Wii U, that should go in the Nintendo thread?[/jealousthreadowner]

Well, if Mas does PW that's Drunka, Jay, Mas, Drunka, Jay, Mas, which works quite nicely. Maybe we could all do V together? That's like two months away from the first week anyway, so plenty of time to arrange!

Well, if I take MGS4 and PW, and we can fit in a one-offs week for MGS Acid, Portable Ops and whatnot which Mas can do, and then you two lads can tag team MGSV. We'd all end up with three then.
So the schedule:
Week One (next week?) - MG1+2 (Drunka) Week Two - MGS1 (Jay) Week Three - MGS2 (Mas) Week Four - MGS3 (Drunka) Week Five - MGS4 (Jay) Week Six - MGS One-Offs (Mas) Week Seven - MGS: PW (Jay) Week Eight - MGSV: Ground Zeroes and TPP (Mas and Drunka AKA The Diamond Dogs)
Sounds like a plan?
Also Balla - probably, but I'll take the Bayo chat here anyway.

This is Snake...
Snake! It's Otacon! Time to stop talking about my Japanese Animes! We have a mission?
A mission? Huh...
Brother! Do you like my sunglasses?
Oh no! Snake! I just peed my pants again!
Ha ha ha! You're right to be scared. It's time for Official Non-Nintendo Music Thread
METAL GEAR-A-THON!
PART 1
Metal Gear. Where it all began. The game Hideo Kojima remade four times before he was happy, with MG, MG2, MGS and MGS2 all being more-or-less the same game. Like Pokémon, Metal Gear was a solid piece of design so far ahead of the times it needed to stay in a holding pattern while the industry caught up. All of those games are absolute bangers, and Metal Gear hit the ground running.
Mercenary Metal Gear Motoaki Furukawa Boss fights! The staple of the classic Metal Gear formula, these clashes are brilliantly inventive, if often really dumb. A man with some hostaages, a man with a shotgun, a helicopter... we were a little while off the creepy BDSM psychics and men made of bees, but the music was pretty okay.
Red Alert Metal Gear Shigehiro Takenouchi !
Theme of Tara Metal Gear Iku Mizutani Who's Tara? Who knows! This is the music you'll be hearing for the majority of this sneaking mission, so it sure is lucky it carries such an amazing weight of tension. Top stuff.
I've not been able to find covers of the individual tracks, but I have found some arrangements based on the whole OST: Electro Orchestral
The first of Kojima's many "one last Metal Gear Game"s, MG2:SS brought better graphics and sound, along with huge gameplay innovations. Some overly complex sections and a longer length make this a little more of a chore to go back to than the original, but as a game of the time it is phenomenal.
Swing Swing Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake Tsuyoshi Sekito I only found out about this while putting together this post. Apparently a novelty codec channel, don't you think it sounds very Undertale? Tune...
Killers Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake Masahiro Ikariko Just incredibly creepy and tense.
Zanzibarland National Anthem Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake Yuji Takenouchi Play the national anthem and soldiers will salute, giving you a chance to take them out. Once upon a time, this was an amusing trick. After the Phantom Pain, though, this is a heartbreaking display of how powerful the cult of personality around Big Boss is. Soldiers trust him to the point of death. Can you handle that responsibility? Of course not. You're not Big Boss.
Next Week: Liquid Jay really gets this thing going with the game that sets the musical precedent for the rest of the series, and where the games begin for most people: Metal Gear Solid: Ghost Babel on Game Boy Colour!

Great stuff Drunka. I'll try and work in a codec conversation at the start of next week's post.
I've heard a lot of the Theme of Tara and Red Alert as it's my music of choice in MGO. Cracking tunes those. Speaking of Red Alert, that orchestral cover is insanely good. Good find!
As for MG2's offerings, Swing Swing did remind me of Undertale - Dummy! is incredibly similar, in fact.

Top work Snake (Drunka), does this mean I'm Otacon and I full in love with almost every female character.
I've got one question fro the Twin Snakes, is there a easy way to figure out what tune is playing in what scene.

Red Alert is also my go to in MGO, I think they've added a few more older MG songs in the recent update as well though.

METAL GEAR-A-THON
Part Two: Metal Gear Solid
Metal Gear Solid. The granddaddy of stealth games. It's the jumping on point for the majority of Metal Gear fans and is an indisputable classic. Sure, the controls might have aged badly, but the game is chockablock with some of the series' finest moments - Psycho Mantis, battling Liquid atop Metal Gear Rex, the sniper duel with Sniper Wolf... pick any moment from this game and you'll make a Metal Gear fan smile with nostalgia. Of course, all that's helped along by a wonderfully crafted OST. Let's take a look.
Metal Gear Solid Main Theme
Heroic. That's the one word I'd use to describe this theme. I mean, you're playing as the legendary soldier Solid Snake. You're a badass, pure and simple. This theme sets you up for the journey ahead - the clanks and mechanical noises play into the gritty setting of the game, and I particularly like the section at 1:15 where the main theme gets all synthy. It's a shame this theme was mired in controversy, but to be fair, it does heavily plagiarise from this here.
Cover: If MGS was released on SNES Remix: The Skateboarding theme from MGS2
Encounter
Okay. So you've been caught. No biggie, right? Wrong. Now you've got to sneak away or try and eliminate the hordes of genome soldiers descending on your location. This track is understandably filled with tension, the constant strings in the background sounding not unlike an alarm sounding. This is actually my track of choice in MGO in MGSV. What a cracking piece.
Cover: Encounter on eight floppy disk drives Remix: Encounter as heard in Little Big Planet. This is really good, by the way.
Hind D
BROTHERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
I always associate this track with Liquid. What a glorious bastard he is. Again, like most of MGS's battle themes, this is tense as hell. I mean, you're battling a bloody helicopter atop a building and not just any helicopter, but the dreaded Hind D.
A Hind D?
Yep. A Hind D.
The Best is Yet to Come
Come on. Did you expect this installment to go without featuring this masterpiece? What an amazing track this is. The haunting pipes, the beautiful Irish vocals, all evoking a wintery, nostalgic feeling... it really does the job of wrapping this game up. And admit it - when this started playing in MGS4, you felt chills. I'd argue this is the series' best credits theme. It's not been topped yet.
Cover: A very chill guitar cover.
So that's it for this week. Next week - Mas covers MGS2 and definitely won't be replaced by a blonde haired moany git.

METAL GEAR-A-THON
Part Three: Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
Kojima's last Metal Gear game, wait a second I've read that somewhere before, let's carry on with what is the most divisive of the series due to a certain blonde hair protagonist who replaces the iconic Solid Snake for the second chapter of the game.
Starting of with the main theme of MGS2
The first boss of the game at the end of the Tanker section Olga
Now that were off Solid Snake it's time to look at Raiden's section of MGS2 which takes place on Big Shell
One of my favorite characters introduced into the series was Vamp
We end this week with the normal James Bond style track with Can't Say Goodbye to Yesterday
So that's it for this week. Next week - Drunka covers MGS3

@Mas: MGS2's main theme is a cracker. Solid choices elsewhere - I'm a fan of Fortune's Theme and Infiltration.
@Jas: Man, I'm not sure about that one. It's just a bit too weird for me - from reading some of the comments, I guess that's the point based on the area you're in, so maybe it works in context of the game itself?
