Nintendo E3 Direct 2018, Nintendo Treehouse 2018, Nintendo Invitationals 2018, and Other Platform E3 Nonsense (God Bless)

What's that?  NoE's E3 site is up?  I think we all know what that means...



It means Balladeer searching the Internet trying to find an 'E3 Nintendo hype train' picture that doesn't feature Satoru Iwata.  And settling on one from last year.

Anyway!  Nintendo's schedule is below, and I'll be updating this post as new information becomes available/Mas looks into other platforms for me.  For now, still a good few months out, please start to speculate about E3 below!  Pace yourselves, though: we've still got a way to go yet.

Also Sony's going to win E3 this year on Spiderman alone, Spyro remastered will be overkill.

E3 for Nintendo this year to me is weird as I'm sure they've said they're looking at games coming this year and even if they mean fiscal year, I think much like PlayStation last year it's rather predictable with SMASH, Pokemon, Yoshi, Fire Emblem and much rumoured Fortnite in the Rocket League position but of course unlike Sony we've not seen Pokemon 87times in the last 3 years.

On the rest of E3 which most have announced with some things they might show:

Saturday June 9th 7pm EA:
Sports, Anthem, Battlefield V and some sort of indie-like game but not sure what else unless one of the Star Wars games is ready to be shown

Sunday June 10th 9pm Xbox:
MS isn't at E3 but at the Microsoft Theater mainly and having a fan fest much like PSX, they've said they're going big this year and I think we will see Halo 6, Forza Horizon 4 set in Japan but some rumours it's going be the UK, Perfect Dark from the Gears of War guys, Fable in some form may be a reboot, not a 4th. I believe they'll talk about indies, OG & 360 games along with some sold old series coming back such as MechAssault and Banjo Remaster Trilogy as MS see that Crash / Spyro money.

Monday June 11th 2.30am Bethesda:
Not that sure what we will see, we know Game Studios is working on something which I don't think is Elder Scrolls and I think we might see DOOM II as the big game then stuff like DLC for Prey etc also think we something for Switch just not sure what.

Monday June 11th 9pm Ubisoft:
I think we will see Splinter Cell, Just Dance, Skulls & Bones, Division 2, Beyond Good & Evil 2, Starlink, Transference to name a few and I wouldn't be shocked a Nintendo thing.

If Ubisoft lasts for 2 and half hours that would be nice to go right into Splatoon which will end just in time for PlayStation

Tuesday June 12th 2am PlayStation:
I'm guessing the time based on previous years. I think like I was saying about Nintendo and last years E3 showing it will be great but it will be Spider-Man yet again being shown and other things that have already been announced like The Last of Us Part II, Ghost of Tsushima leaving very little in terms of surprises and I look at the first party studios and all are doing something or have very recently to have anything new to show.

Then sleep before Nintendo in the evening and all the E3 coverage with twitch streams etc

Which you may see other things like Shadow of the Tomb Raider (Thinking Xbox even with the previous backlash), Spyro Remaster (I'm thinking Sony), Black Ops IIII (I'm thinking Sony), Cyberpunk 2077 (Thinking Xbox due to previous relationship) which will all likely show up somewhere and you may have things on Twitch as I'm sure Square did last year.

Much like last year I'm looking forward to Xbox over everyone else as I think they're all really predictable, sure it will be the first time we will see Pokemon which is amazing but if a new Perfect Dark is shown that's something else and MS have basically said this year they're going big or going home that I want to see what that means.

Now to wait for 42 days to this and my week off

I knew I shouldn't have used all my holidays for the fiscal year. Shit.

I am super hyped to see the new Smash Bros. in action. They can stream that for the whole week at E3 and I'll be chuffed.

Just show me Animal Crossing Switch and I'll be happy.
Plus, I think it works out to around 1am for me, so even if I'm working by then there'll be no need to book a day off

Jay, I'm in your position re. holidays (sob). Also re. E3: if this is Smash 5 rather than Smash 4.5 E3's probably going to be a belter for me regardless of anything else. However, I'd be a tad disappointed not to see more of Metroid Prime 4, I'd hope to see more of Pokémon Handheld/Home, and some other big games would be nice, natch. From Nintendo alone, I hope we're looking at one big game and one smaller game (ignoring ports) for each month from June until December. Feel free to tell me I'm being greedy.

You don't get excited for E3 anyway, I'm not sure why you mind. Also a little birdie told me that Spyro's rubbish and only valued because of nostalgia.

I think Nintendo and friends will deliver a game a month and have so far this year, just not sure all will be everyone's tastes as Cappa isn't going to be thrilled about the month of Fire Emblem and TWEWY like you aren't with a month with Donkey Kong & Hyrule.

The birdie is wrong and needs plucked.

I'm actually looking far more to Spyro than I was for Crash's remaster. I've only played Spyro 2 and unlike most, I've played it as recently as 4/5 years ago so it's not childhood nostalgia clouding my vision - I really enjoyed my time with it. I just hope they leave the cracking soundtrack intact.

Spyro is loads better than Crash. Obviously it's not Mario or anything, but Spyro's mechanic of "climb up high then glide" is basically what we have to thank for the Arkham games and Breath of the Wild.

Spyro and Crash are completely different games to me as one is a 3D platformer as in you can move in a 3D environment and the other is a 2D platformer but with cam behind the characters ass (actaully what they said).

On E3, Capcom apparently have action adventure game to show which will be coming to Xbox One, PC and Switch with nothing on PS4 which has lead many to believe it's multiplayer based and crossplay which isn't a thing on PS4 but still a bit of shock not to see it on PS4 even in it's on echo chamber seeing likes of Monster Hunter World is 70-30 split with PS4 and Xbox that it is interesting Capcom might be willing to lose out on those sells.

Keeping with MS and Nintendo, some rumours about that much like last year with Ubisoft we may see something between these two companies now that could be what Capcom is doing and is on MS stage and they show it running on a Switch like with Minecraft but most seem to think it's bigger than that.

The only thing that comes to mind is the Banjo Remaster rumour as you got to think most of the audience for that would be on Switch or Banjo is in SMASH.

Ohh and CD Project has basically confirmed Cyberpunk 2077 will be at E3.

I'm excited to see more about Cyberpunk 2077, and that's without even playing Witcher 3. I love the cyberpunk aesthetic and I'd be all over an expansive RPG set in that world.

I tweeted about this earlier but a possible MH for Switch and a wrestling game for ps4 coming from Capcom? Definitely will have my eye on these.

With the successes of Switch and MHW respectively, and with a team already familiar with working on the machine, I think it's somewhat inevitable. If we got World's quality of life changes and loading-free maps combined with XX's monster quantity and mission structure, I'd have a game I could never stop playing. I don't even need the visuals to make a massive jump from say 3 Ultimate, as long as the smoothness of World carries over.

Much like I posted in my post a few up from Jas and I did reply to Jas about it on twitter, that sites like that SKU's are listed individually that the Action Adventure game is likely for Switch, Xbox, PC which to me means it's not Monster Hunter and the wrestling game is for PS4 & PC, NLife even say this as well.

I'm not saying we won't see a Monster Hunter on Switch again but I can't see it being this, also surely it's an Action RPG.

It's fun to speculate sometimes though eh and that's all we are doing, and yep MH is labeled as an action-RPG but that genre isn't so easily separated from action-adventure but let's not dive into the whole genre thing again shall we?

Aye it's those quality of life changes that are the most important for me, from the small things like being able to move while you heal to all the weapon adjustments they have made. (especially the ranged weapons)

Sure and like the whole possible MS & Nintendo thing I'm thinking what that could be along with of what action adventure games Capcom have unless new IP that lends itself to multiplayer.

Ohh and that Bethesda game I wasn't sure what would be shown from Game Works will be Starfield well it might have a different name now but a space RPG thing.

Yeah, I've been put off dabbling much with ranged at all in earlier games, but when I get my hands back on World or any potential Switch edition, I'd like to give them a proper go. I love having a bow and a sword in games, though, so the slinger is one of my favourite changes.

The light bowgun has shot right up there with lance as a favourite of mine now, it's just fun to support your team with the various status shots so I hope they don't mess with it too much in a future Switch game.

I've been talking about Mario RPGs on Scullion's Discord. It made me hope that Nintendo would finally see sense and give use TTYD HD at E3. If not then, maybe Mario & Luigi Switch? A man can dream.
