Could make sense as the big October 2019 game and that's what the direct really has done for me, if what we know the Switch has coming then the Big N could have something for me every month starting with October 2018.

Rolled my eyes a wee bit when this popped up as I thought "great another old game ported for Switch" but thankfully its a proper sequel and I cant wait to see more of it.

It's a tough one as I'm now more positive as I had two games to look forward to before the direct and now I can see something almost each month and what they've done has worked for Sony this gen.

Very unexpected this, I'm hoping for something closer to the first game rather than the second though, the whole multiple mansion thing lost a bit of the original's magic.

I hope the same Smurf. Hopefully thats what well get, the 2nd game was designed around the 3ds as a handheld while the switch can also do home console stuff。

I actually quite liked the multiple mansions, just not the mission structure. I'll be happy either way, though.

I get that, but if they hadn't announced this and the equally distant AC the Direct would have looked a bit empty, and they'd have had a lot of fanger on their hands. Damned if you do etc.
Personally I think the 'the game's in progress, now shut up about it and let us work on it' approach is the best. We know it's there, but we're not getting impatient if it doesn't show up for a year. I do understand why people might prefer a more 'close and personal' approach to the Directs though.

Im just a big fan of a sense of place in games. I like it in books and movies, too, but games can do it best. I know Pokemons Kanto, Londor, Hyrule and so many other places better than i know actual cities where ive lived‥

I completely get that, it's a reason level design's such a big thing for me. I love places you get to learn, they're the ones that stick with you. I also like exploring new places! It's all good. I'm sure the game will be blinding either way, and I agree that the mission structure was probably due to 3DS limitations and shouldn't come up again.
I just made a connection, maybe. This is the Belmont-in-Smash announcement trailer. 14 seconds in, Luigi shoots a plunger at a mummy. Now, I don't think I've ever seen him do that before.
At 22 seconds in the LM3 trailer, what does Luigi do?
(Yes yes, I know, they talk to each other. I'm just happy because I realised that the Smash trailer potentially contained clues for LM3. Let me have my fun.)

I'm a fan of the series so I was sold as soon as I saw his nose poking through the door. (Though of course in some places on the internet it started the whole 3DS argument again)

The blown way out of whack issue of Nintendo putting the first on the 3ds where the sequel is and why it wasn't put on the Switch where all games now seemingly belong

Not trying to derail the thread but I do think Nintendo themselves need to cool it on the ports to Switch now, feels like overkill especially when there's a few third parties doing it as well.

I think it's at least better seeing some gameplay rather than the recent trend of showing off the logo for the game as if to say "we're making it, now shut up about it."

Somebody on Twitter had also pointed out that Luigi's vacuum was a different design from previous games too, which was another wee clue there.

To be fair, I think they're making the right decision by slowly trickling them out over the first couple of years, rather than launching Switch with the full Wii U back catalogue.

Huh, I don't actually remember seeing LM gameplay. I thought it was a logo dealy! In my defence it was the start of the Direct so it was 6am and I was still waking up
