SML2's good and all, but I'm getting a heck of a nostalgia high off the SML1 video. Combine that with the random shots of Japan, and it's a thing of beauty.

I just wanted shots of me playing Game Boy and, y'know, I live in a pretty beautiful place.

Now, this is a bit of long one (just under an hour) but for a video that was just randomly on my youtube recommended it's been the best one for a good while. The people involved in it are genuinely quite funny and the idea of the video reminds me of when we got Jay to draw Gogmazios from only our descriptions plus that Pokemon drawing thread we done on here as well.

You get a 404 Page Not Found message when you click on the link, but I enjoyed those three YouTube videos. Think you'll go through other series' when they have their anniversaries?

Pressing the control key on my keyboard also presses the 4 for some reason (which I'm sure is unrelated to many drinks being spilled on it over the years) so when I pasted the link it was borked.

Probably not to the same extent; Mario games suit themselves well to this because you can "complete" them pretty quickly, they're very light and playable, they aren't complex to discuss . . . I played the original LoZ on the 1st of this year for the 35th anniversary of that series and I don't know how feasible it would be to marathon all of them. On the other hand, the 2D Metroid games are not too long and there aren't too many. I'm almost done with Zero Mission and might do a little something with that . . .

I thought I really overdid a couple of them, so happy to read this!

I enjoyed this video, and I immediately thought of The Cappuccino Kid's charity shop hunts.

I liked that video on the whole too, but that guy’s ‘I love the hustle, it’s what I live for’ patter at the end of the video is absolutely honking. No chance am I dragging my arse around town and into charity shops daily on the off-chance I’m finding LEGO Batman 3 on the PS3. I’m well past my prime of charity shop bargain hunting, although as that guy proves there’s still the odd bargain to be found here and there.

Japan has historically had difficulty distinguishing the colours blue and green because the language only had one word until recently.
We think of some things as natural and others as unnatural, but actually so much of what we do and know is learned.

Genuinely fascinating. Especially given that there's a Japanese football song called 'Samurai Blue'. Also, puts the original three Pokémon games into a new light!

There's a really interesting youtube video I'll try to link you sometime about how different languages, no matter how unrelated, always name the colours in the same order.

Wow, that's incredible! Which, er, reads sarcastic to me, but I do genuinely mean it! (Also: mentions Muss' video's point too.)

Another interesting thing about the colour blue is that in nature blue is really rare. What we see is often a simulacrum of the real thing.
I'll watch the video later but I remember hearing from candy and soda companies that kids love blue stuff specifically because it doesn't exist in nature and so is far removed from the healthy stuff they don't like.
