What's eShopping about?

I saw it on youtube the other day and it looked a little floaty for my tastes.

I didn't realise how many Arcade Archives games were actually on the eShop; I happened to see the latest one this week, and it seems to be the arcade version of childhood Super Nintendo favourite Pop'n'Twinbee. I didn't even know that was a thing! It's not quite the same, but the SNES game is definitely a re-arrangement of it. They changed the controls outside of Japan it seems, probably because they assumed stupid Gaijin couldn't deal with 2 fire buttons [citation needed].

*looks up* - oh it's the PC Engine version. Well now I am confused.

This is what I'm playing just now. It's a twin-stick competitive shooter with Capture The Flag rules. The twist is that it all takes places in the worlds of old Data East games, like Karate Champ, Side Pocket and Burger Time. I could imagine it being a brilliant multiplayer game, at least up to the value of £1.75. Jimbob's sister's ex-boyfriend would probably fart while playing it too.

Oh my goodness, where did this come from? Yeah, I'm very interested in that. And in all fairness, my sister's current boyfriend would probably fart too.

Anyone downloading Murder by Numbers? I put it on March games and it sounded familiar, to see Balla picked for Fantasy Critic where it has a 82 at the moment on Opencritic.

Just wondering what any of you guys think.

It is so far up my street that I'm going to need a specialist medical professional to remove it, so yep I've downloaded it. I've grown a bit tired of samey Picross games of late, but this: this looks like just what the doctor ordered. (Hopefully not the same doctor that removed it from my street.)

Mighty tempting and I have £3 in gold as well, that £7 isn't a big risk.

It's adorable thus far! You're a snarky detective, but your assistant is a flying virtual machine whose corrupted visual circuits provide the plot justification for the Picross and he's really cute.  Also the music is from one of the fellows who worked on Ace Attorney, I believe, and it shows. Also it has a non-juddery anime-style opening so there's that. This might actually distract me from Digimon for a bit...

It sounds like it's well worth a look. How's the writing been holding up, Balla?

I started Murder by Numbers today, instead of continuing on with TMS.

And got to say I really enjoyed case 1 which I continued playing till the end even after watching a podcast.

I finally bought Celeste!

I to started Murder by Numbers and really like what I've played so far, writing is great and Picross is Picross, they've nailed it from my early impressions.

Lots of good choices being made here! Do chime in with your Celeste thoughts Muss, I'm always happy to see people enjoying the game. Unless you don't enjoy it, natch.

Like Smurf says, it's really good! It's got a good mix of snark and cuteness, puns and pathos. I do think they've nailed it, apart from the fact that... I think maybe I've gone off Picross a little. Right now it's getting in the way of the writing, apart from the hacking minigame which is apparently being patched to make it easier, but I love the challenge of.

Be interested how you find Celeste, Muss as I found it to be like Undertale where highly praised then played and thought good but not as good as people made out.

I've just seen Smurf online playing MbN, and saw Crumpy playing it the other day too. It's great to see so many GNamerians suddenly jump on board with this.

I think I'm going to pick it up too, actually. I think something like MbN should be pretty chill, and that's the sort of game I'm after right now.

I've finished the game, and it remains strong throughout - and it is largely, as you say, 'chill'. Highly recommended, and it actually means 2020's off to a strong start for me!

I really like the look of everything about MbN apart from the Picross puzzles, which I can't be arsed with.

I'm trying to convince The Lady, who's in the same boat, to play it with a walkthrough for the puzzles. Defeats half the point, maybe, but I think the story's strong enough to carry it.

I'm playing with the puzzles on easy as I've not played a picross game before and I want to play it like a VN.

Maybe it's because I haven't played Picross since 2017 but I've no issue with them in this game, as much as I'm enjoying the story I don't think it'd feel like much of a game without it. I must say though I find it quite funny when a puzzle in shoehorned in to the story because it's so weird out of context.
