| The covers that CEX reprint was a rather big story awhile back that they now have on the reprinted cover "this is a reprinted cover" well along those lines.
Instead of trying to flog as the real deal.
Surprised about your local store as those normally ran by people that care about games. |

Surprised about your local store as those normally ran by people that care about games. I once bought Starfox Adventures from CEX that had a reprinted cover. Months later, I tried to trade it in and they couldn't scan the barcode. The funny thing is, the game's value has risen so they shot themselves in the foot with that one. I think Gamestation used to sell disc-only games in generic cases. |

| I do wonder how they came in originally as would have had a barcode to scan.
Yeah GAME sells disc only games in plane cases. |

It's Gamecube that's really rocketed up in cost. I was looking at putting together a Gamecube lineup but man, the prices of the software are scary indeed these days. |

| Yep even though my Dreamcast collection is double in size, my GameCube one would by far worth the most money and even Fire Emblem which I paid silly money for has gone up in value since. |

| Super Paper Mario was good!
I think I want to have another crack at this and go solely with the GBA as my machine of choice. A question - looking at the cheapest GBA model on CEX, it's an original purple GBA at £25 whereas the cheapest GBA SP is £35. Do you reckon it'd be worth it to pay the extra tenner for the improved functionality of the GBA SP for this game? |

| I've been looking at N64's along with a few Saturn's personally but the rising cost of these and gaming as a whole such as the PS3 I went for last time which is now £80 instead of £60 that I want another bash at this but buying now.
Console Only really three choices due to cost in my opinion and that's the Mega Drive, OG Xbox or what I've gone for something in between those two gens
PlayStation with Dual Shock £35
Accessorize Memory Card £6
Games Dino Crisis 2 Platinum £5 Final Fantasy IX Platinum £12, the best one Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver £8 Metal Gear Solid £12, still great now Parasite Eve II Platinum £10 Tekken 3 Platinum £8 Tony Hawks Pro Skater 4 Platinum £4
I don't get that many games, but they have an avg of 89 on Meta that I'm getting quality |

| That's the strength of the PSone's library on display. Tekken 3 aside, I'd have gone for none of those games. ~ When I first saw this bumped, I thought it would be a piece of piss to do it with the N64. Then I saw how much prices had risen since I last took an interest. It can still be done though, and I'll show youse wee fannies how. Firstly, buy the cheapest console available, at £65 . You'd get one controller and all the cables chucked in, but no Memory Pak, Rumble Pak or Expansion Pak. You can live with that. With that revolutionary, life-changing, best-of-all-time controller, a 3D platformer is a must. Under these conditions (and with just £35 left to spend), Super Mario 64 is sadly too expensive at £20. You're not wanting to buy any old shite though, so Banjo-Kazooie for £12 is a sound, sensible use of the budget. Simply put, it's one of the finest games I've ever played. You've spent £77 and have £23 remaining. The N64 has more racing games than you've had hot dinners, and a lot of them are really good. You're buying one of the very best: F-Zero X for £8 is worth the extra expenditure compared to the cheaper stuff. With just £15 left, you're going to have to get a bit more creative. A shooter would be grand, and I'd have suggested Perfect Dark for £8 if you had an Expansion Pak. You don't, so think elsewhere. There's a handful of decent options, but my idea is Lylat Wars for £6 . It's not quite the same thing as Goldeneye/Turok etc, but it's the dog's hairy bollocks, and an N64 essential. You're down to £9. Disappointingly, there's nothing like Zelda that fits the budget. So now, my shout is for you to pick up 1080 Snowboarding for £3 . That's ridiculously cheap for a game of that calibre, simply unmissable. The same goes for ISS 64 for £1.50 , meaning you've spent £95.50 . There's all sorts of combinations of games you could get for £4.50, but instead I think you're best to buy one, and plonk for WWF Wrestlemnia 2000 for £4 . There's yer dinner. The best console of all time with six superb games for under a ton. |

| Cracking set of games for the PS1 there - I had no idea Tony Hawks 4 was on there.
I'm going to mop up a ton of classics for the Microsoft Doorstop, commonly known as an Xbox. No need to worry about a memory card you see, even though the cheapest is £60.
Halo 1 (50p) and Halo 2 (50p) for a quid is unbelievable value for money. Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is a must too (£3)
Ninja Gaiden Black is £12 but you may as well lump for plain ol' Ninja Gaiden (£2.50), seeing as you're not seeing the end of it anyway. The whopper that is Chronicles of Riddick (£2) brings us up to £8.50 - total of £68.50
You want some more bangers? I give you Burnout 3: Takedown (£3), Timesplitters 2 (£1.50), Half-Life 2 (£3.50), Soul Calibur 2 (£2), Fable (£2), Jade Empire (£4), Prince of Persia: Sands of Time (£3.50), Hitman 2 (50p) and Tony Hawks Pro Skater 4 (£5).
That brings us up to £93.50, so there's only one game left. And it only happens to be the best of the best - Outrun 2 (£6). I thought about the better version (Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast) but it's fucking £70.
50p left for a can of pop, or to borrow a wheelbarrow you'll need to haul this lot to your car/bus stop.
£100 and you've got FIFTEEN great games to play. Just pray they don't give you the Duke to play them on... |

| That's impressive the N64 with 6 game's that's only one less than my PS1 bundle but a tad sports heavy for me, without any of the bigger hitters where I still got 2 out of the 3 for PS1. Saying that I would have gone for Smackdown 2 on PS1 but wasn't listed on CEX.
gJones that's why I all most went for the OG Xbox as even though console £25 more than the PS1, get way more games and a bit more variety as well, decent quality to boot as well. |

| A year later, and this game is quickly becoming a useful gauge of the retro market. Sod Bitcoin, we should be investing in 25-year old tech. - Mas :

| Interesting as BC when games announced always drove prices up but looking at the two went down in price and both of those aren't BC, and Fable has a remaster which is.
I would have thought both mine and Cappas would have gone up more, especially seeing retro prices recently of PS3 and DS maybe people just have some nostalgia for them at the moment. |

| With some free time after a couple of cancelled meetings, I was going to try this with GameCube, but it’s practically impossible now. Everything’s shot up in price really steeply over the last couple of years.
I’ll do it with the Wii U instead, as I’m kind of interested to see the trajectory of it’s prices over the next few years. Sadly, I’m going to have to trade last year’s N64 and six games for a £71.90 gift voucher, but happily my Great Uncle Bulgaria gave me another £100 for my 103rd birthday.
I’ll buy an unboxed Wii U Basic bundle for £80, and add the obligatory Nintendo Land onto it for just £4. There’s £84 of my £171.90 away already.
While it might seem a bit weird that the system’s best games are amongst it’s cheapest, you’ll remember that most of these have since been ported to the Switch. All the same, Mario Kart 8 for £10, Bayonetta 2 for £6, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze for £12, Captain Toad Treasure Tracker for £8 and Super Mario 3D World for £15 are all Wii U essentials, and are a worthwhile way to spend £46. That’s me spent £135 now.
With just £36.90 left in my pocket, I’m just going to spend most of it on other top-tier Wii U games. I’ll pick up Super Smash Bros. for Wii U for £10, Splatoon for £8, Super Mario Maker for £5 and ZombiU for £3. You can’t not have Smash for that price, and it’ll surely increase in value over the coming months and years. The other three but the GamePad to brilliant use, therefore arguably being better on Wii U than they are on Switch, PS4 or Xbox One. Adding that altogether means I’ve spent £162.
I’m quite spoilt for Wii U games that I can buy for £10. Looking at CEX the now, I can see that Sonic Racing Transformed, Hyrule Warriors, the first Bayonetta and New Super Mario Bros. U all fit into the budget. Sadly though, I’m going to leave all those on the shelf, and instead pick up Lego City Undercover for £4, and Rayman Legends for £6. They’re multiformat games sure, but I associate them mostly closely with the Wii U, and again I thought they had good uses for the GamePad.
With any luck, I’ll be able to retire soon, because this Wii U and these twelve games will be worth hundreds and thousands of billions. |

| I might be wrong because it is Nintendo, but I just don't see Wii U going up in price as most games on Switch which most people if going to play will play there and if you're collecting or one of four people to own a U you might have the games you want anyway.
Stuff like Fatal Frame though unless it gets ported, can see that going up and up.

| My PS1 stuff get me a whole £79 trade in and Great Uncle Bulgaria is just a nice fellow that he's giving everyone £100 to invest in games. Giving me £179 which I'm going to spend on Unboxed Xbox 360 Slim 250GB £65. Few options are cheaper, but I want it to be reliable, have HDMI & an HDD along with built-in Wi-Fi meaning don't need to buy any accessories (Pack of AA's lol). Leaving me with £114, now could go for some Game Pass but 360 titles lacking in that regard, so Gold is tempting which I can get 3 months for £14 now giving me £100 for games. Call Of Duty: Black Ops II £15. They're cheaper COD options but from the stats I can find this is the most played 360 game online. Alan Wake £3. Story wise IMO still good and a tad different to give some variety to these games, now I don't know if I should budget for the DLC? Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY and Arkham City GOTY £5. For a fiver for both of these with DLC (I hope it's on the disc) seems like a great deal. Bioshock and Oblivion Double Pack £3. Bioshock gives me a more story rich FPS and Oblivion a decent RPG. Catherine £10. Really different to the rest of the games and one of my favs. Dead or Alive 4 £2.50. I could have gone for 5 but I feel this is still played more and just cheap. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Shivering Isles Expansion Pack £2. I save 0.50p doing it like this. Enslaved: Odyssey to the West £2. Underrated action adventure game which bit more colourful than Batman etc Eternal Sonata £3.50. I want a JRPG, and it's cheaper than Tales. Fable Anniversary £15. The first Fable is still the best and it in HD with all the Lost Chapter content makes it the option over buying II&III for far less. Forza Horizon 2 £20. Xboxes best series now, why paying the big bucks for this racer. Mass Effect Trilogy £12. Two outstanding games and 3 Project Sylpheed £4. Air combat game from Square which is only on 360 and not BC making it a tad interesting. Viva Piñata & Forza Motorsport 2 Double Pack £3. Cheapest way to get Viva Piñata, also I get an arcade & sim racer. Decent variety over 18 games, am missing a platformer just not a lot of options and sports maybe something like Skate 3, also reckon some would be mad I have Xbox 360 list with no Halo or Gears just I feel COD and Bioshock do the shooting better in 2021 for MP & SP. Maybe could have looked at PS3 again, just I feel from what I've seen over the last few months I would get less for my money than I did first time around even with a bigger budget. Just looked up, the PS3 list I did it would now cost £132.50 to buy. |
