| Were the names of the new captains thought up on the spot? They sound somewhat generic.
Good to have a date for this, finally. I will reserve any potential excitement until I see some reviews, dammit! |

| How many new trailers do I need to link to before someone pays attention to this thread? Heck, I'm probably not even buying this game! Which is a shame because it looks gorgeous. Purple Pikmin make a return around the 5:50 mark, as well as Olimar in multiplayer. |

| I've come to the point where I don't like watching trailers anymore just to save the gaming experience, might make a start on NPC Pikmin 1 to get in the mood though. |

| I typically give all non-Nintendo Direct trailers a miss as well. I want to tackle this fresh, and hopefully be surprised at every opportunity. Pleasantly surprised, natch. |

| Not on the guest list for this one. I bought NPC Pikmin 1, got about a third of the way through it and lost interest. It's one of a few Wii projects I want to tackle at some point... but then I have three Wii games I have yet to play. So not too fussed for Pikmin 3! That day will be given over to Super Luigi U.

| I'm in full on anti-spoiler mode now in the run up to release. I'm gonna go back to Pikmin 2 now and finish off the last few treasures. That'll probably help make the graphical jump more exciting, too. |

| It be considered a spoiler, but here's what famitsu are saying - Spoiler:
- Pikmin 3 (9/9/9/10, 37 points): While this game scored one point less than Nintendo's other release of the week, all of Famitsu's reviewers were in agreement that the new Wii U-y features involved in this sequel made the game a lot more expansive than before.
"The feel of the backgrounds and so on is wonderful and really throw you into the game," Ebihara said. "You can switch the screen to the GamePad with a single button, which works great as well. You're now switching between three guys as you explore, giving a neat new sense of novelty to the play. The Bingo Battle multiplayer lets you get in the way of your opponent, and while it's just a bonus more than anything else, battles can get pretty heated."
"You have more characters to control and can send them on separate tasks," added Jigoro Ashida, "so the puzzles here are a lot deeper than before. In order to carry out your work efficiently, you have to think carefully about how to use the auto-move function and other stuff, and it's a lot of fun. I like how you can see what each Pikmin is doing at all times at a glance using the GamePad."

| Seven hours? Jesus. I hope that's 'it can be done in seven hours' in the same way that Super Mario 64 can be done in fifteen minutes. They've been at this game since before time began - how can it last just seven hours?
I'm sure it'll be the cock and bollocks though. |

| Pikmin 1 wasn't that long was it? It has the time limit back doesn't it so too long would be a tad mad. With a game like Pikmin I'm not overly bothered by length anyway. |

| The first one was about fifteen hours, max. That was considered criminally short at the time, as I remember.
I'm all about quality over quantity, but even then twenty hours for Pikmin 3 does seem a bit on the short side, particularly when sttod against the likes of Fire Emblem: Awakening, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and, hell, even Pikmin 2. |

| Surely you can't compare Pikmin's length to MH3U. I mean that's an RPG, if it didn't last around 100 hours you'd feel cheated. If Pikmin lasted that long nobody would ever see the end! I think it's the kind of game I'd be quite happy to replay for a quick run through every now and then. |

| rpgs don't even need to be long look at last story, it's all about quality not quantity some games do need both ala monster hunter though. |

| I think The Last Story is a bit of a dodgy pick though as people do complain about its lack of length. |

| I wasn't saying all RPGs needed as much play time as MH, I certainly wouldn't consider ME short. |

| MH isn't a game you can truly finish though sure you could complete all the quests but I guarantee there'd still be something to aim for.
Anyhow, I'm going off overly long games anything between 7 - 20 hours will suit me fine. |
