I bagged that, FAR and a couple of classic FPS games that were on my list.

I'm also playing Death's Door (on PlayStation but it's relevent here) and whilst I feel a lot more positively about it than Balla, I'm not quite sure it's game of the year material. I love the art style and some of the music so far is lovely but gameplay hasn't offered anything out of the ordinary yet, still early doors though so that could change.
My copy of Brilliant Diamond hasn't arrived yet so I'm taking the opportunity to play something in my Switch backlog, a little known game called Super Mario Sunshine...
Now I'll defend Super Mario 64 till my dying days and I've also had great memories of Sunshine too so was expecting to do the same after this, probably not though. Mario must really be sweating in that heat because that's the only thing that could explain why he's so slippery, I honestly had every intention to get all the shines like I did with 64's stars last year but I don't think I can bring myself to repeat some of those really frustrating levels and anything involving a soluble Yoshi is just bollocks.
I'll still finish it because a poor 3D Mario is still better than a lot of other games but I'm really shocked at how patient I used to be to play through this multiple times in my teens, it is very frustrating.

Reading what everybody has said about Sunshine, I'm quite glad I never went back to play it. After all, doing that in the Wii U era saw SM64 take a massive hit in my eyes. Can't imagine what playing Sunshine now would do to those precious memories...

Duke Nukem 3D and DOOM 3. I also almost bought Doom Eternal, which would have meant I had the full DOOM collection on Switch, but it asked me to do a Natwest one-time-code thing and I paused long enough to realise I wouldn't get around to playing it for a year so I should calm down and stop buying shite.
I will probably bag Quakeand Turok eventually, and that DUSK, but I've got plenty to be going on with.

I have DOOM 1-3 as well and I really should get around to playing 3 at some point but there's just too much other stuff at the minute. Quake, Turok & DUSK are all Switch must haves and despite being in the same genre they do plenty to stand out from each other.
I'm big into Turok at the minute and it's just unreal how much something like gyro controls can modernise a game that old, I enjoyed the game enough back in the late 90s but don't think I ever finished it due to finding some of the platforming/movement really fiddly but in this Nightdive remaster everything is just feels so smooth. (once I adjusted some of the settings of course)

With my two main games at the moment being Death's Door and FAR: Lone Sails, I decided to pick up Scullion fave Part Time UFO to inject some colour into my gaming life. First thoughts: it really does feel like a mobile title, but having Qbby wiggling in the background is, er, Qte.

Nah, it is cute, and occasionally clever. But sometimes annoyingly hard. So far I've had two swear-worthy bits: Toy Shop 2 with all the chicks, and trying to balance all the monkeys on one of the two poles. I gave up on that one.

I’d never call Part Time UFO hard. It’s maybe a wee bit annoying at times and occasionally a tiny bit challenging, but learning how to balance everything and overcome that is a major part of the satisfaction you’d get from it. Hard, nah, not for me Clive.
Between finishing Shining Pearl and starting Bowser’s Fury, I’ve been working through What The Golf’s main campaign. I’m about two hours in, and as amusing as everything was at first unfortunately I think the joke has worn thin. The gimmicks and references to other games are doing the heavy lifting here, and I’m getting a bit bored of them. The time’s overdue for it to turn into a real game.

I get what you mean as I definitely groaned at seeing the covfefe one, have you been doing all the level variations for the crowns? As that makes it more of game for me.

Based on that Cappuccino Kid post I have to consider that everything he's ever posted might be wrong. Is Crazy Taxi not actually the best game of all time? Is Monster Hunter not, in fact, utter toot? Can Danganronpa not be summed up merely by an explosive diarrhoea noise?
Seriously: agreed with Jas. Not all the jokes land (there's an entire videogame parody world that was the worst time I had with the game), but that's going to be almost any comedy game for you; and if you're not doing the developments of each level you're missing out on the bits that elevate it from 'funny gags' to 'excellent game' in my eyes.
But hey, I'm glad more people are playing it!

Yeah, I’ve done some of the level variations. Come to think of it, I’m usually finding them a bit more entertaining and more game-like. Still, at its core I definitely don’t love What The Golf like treesmurf or Balladeer seemed to.

I was right about those three things, but everything else I've ever posted is just added-on drivel.

Apart from everything you've ever said in Kirby's Rumour Buffet, I would hope.
Speaking of added-on drivel, I've picked up Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space. I really liked the first S&M (no) game on Switch, and this feels like... more of the same? Which is fine, and what I expected, but at this early stage the jokes aren't landing the same way as the original's did. Possessed Santa isn't as funny as the Toy Mafia.

I just don't think any Sam & Max game has reached the heights of the original, gag-wise. I kind of enjoyed what was known as season 1 (is that Save the World now?) but the art style isn't as nice as the old 2D toon-styling either.
I don't know if I already said this elsewhere! Been 2 weird weeks, sorry

Nintendo are doing one of those Year in Review things, and somehow I've played 31 games this year on Switch, of which 25 are new (I'm going to guess Triangle Strategy demo counts as a game, for instance).
My overall time played went from 119hrs to 178hrs, with the Switch being docked 99% of the time.

Before I drop the stats.: Ender Lilies is 25% off, and it's started out feeling like a tactile and pretty Castlevania-HollowKnight-kinda game. Will see if it opens up a bit, but it's made a better first impression than Death's Door.
STATS:
Games played in 2021 63
Games played in 2020 39
New games started in 2021 48
You enjoyed games from many different genres! Action Adventure Puzzle Platformer RPG
Your most played games in 2021:
BRAVELY DEFAULT II Hours played: 161 Jesus Christ what the Hell Nintendo
NEO: The World Ends with You Hours played: 79
Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition Hours played: 77
Your total hours played in 2021 911
Your total hours played in 2020 520
How you used your Nintendo Switch: 26% Docked 74% Portable
You spent the most time playing games on: 04/03/2021
Standouts from there: - No I didn't play 161h of Bravely Default 2 don't be daft. BD2 does have a feeble impersonation of the 3DS games' leave-it-on-to-connect-with-items: I reckon that's what the stray 40h or so must be. - 04/03/2021 was just after BD2's release. - at RPGs coming fifth in my most-played genres after that top three. - Good mix of docked and portable, leaning towards portable. As it should be.

No major surprises there really... Big decrease in playtime will be attributable to me not being on furlough, and not playing Animal Crossing all the time while being on said furlough. I also fucking love portable play.
Dunno what the occasion was on September 3rd, though.

All the stats, not close to some of you but as you see I only play docked that all the travel hours or whatever not a thing for me, and I only really play the exclusives which I think more planned in 2022 then 2021 that I should see my time rise.
Games played in 2021: 31 Games played in 2020: 22

Most played was Monhan, to the surprise of nobody. 160-odd hours. Overall was just 300-and-something, compared to 600 last year. I'm tired, busy and allowed to travel so that'll be why.
My longest time in one day was back on January 1st. That'll be when I played The Legend of Zelda in one sitting.

Wow, this year really was a write-off
Mr. Grumpy Stats:
Games played in 2021: 19 Compared with in 2020: 20 7 of those were new. 7.
Action > Platform > Arcade > Multiplayer > Party Most games are Action games, mind! And then the rest is when family came over
Top 3: Animal Crossing: 39 hours (which is a big surprise, I didn't think I fell off this much) SNES online: 38 hours (Joe n Mac Caveman Ninja isn't going to play itself) Dragon's Dogma: 34 hours (33 of which I didn't know what was going on)
187 hours in 2021 compared with 420 (nice) in 2020. I guess I probably played more PS4 games this year maybe?
94% docked, 6% portable (4% of which was probably me transferring stuff over)
