Guys the Olympics are on Guys

Hi all

I know it's a mess, and probably shouldn't be happening etc. etc., but I'm still a-watchin' the 'lympics.

Double-take though during the opening ceremony though:
"And now... the athletes!"

'wait, what's that fanfare from?'

A bit disappointed I didn't get most of the others! I heard the Starlight Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog, a Final Fantasy thing of some sort, and the one from Chrono Trigger that sounds like Never Gonna Give You Up.

I like the winter olympics but I've never been fussed about the summer one. Just people running and stuff.
Might watch some judo and that.

All my students are really into the table tennis apparently, probably because Japan is a frontrunner.

I was going to represent Team GB in the Olympics, but I turned my place down to go on Love Island. I then turned down my place on Love Island so I could type up my Hot Potato review. Never forget all the things I do for the GNamer Community.

I've watched bits of the Olympics like Mens Street Skateboarding, France v USA in Basketball and will watch some more.

Game tie-in stuff! Given that Russia aren't allowed to be Russia because of the state-sponsored sneakiness, they're the Russian Olympic Committee (which basically means no-one's being punished for owt). But they're not allowed their anthem, so they get Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1. I was really surprised how well I knew that piece of music, having never actively sought it out...

And then I realised I've been playing fucking City Connection.

Digression from the negativity: Like Rocket League turning football on its head, I've been watching some of the sports I only watch every 4 years (or 2 if they're in the Commonwealth Games I spose), and wondering whether there are ideas for video games that are loosely based on them.

I feel like track cycling could be made into some minimalist racing sim, a bit like dotstream/Light Trax... given that I haven't started my latest Unity project, I'm trying very hard not to be diverted away from it.

Something like that sounds fun. I always like watching the longer track cycling events like the Madison because there are about 50 cyclists on this tiny track, so it looks like chaos, but also there are all these tactics in terms of having sprint races every X laps or gaining loads of points if you lap the field. I find that easier to appreciate than sports where you just do a big throw or whatever.
