For me this month, the day ones are:

Age of Mythology: Retold, think the Xbox game I'm looking forward to most now in 2024 and on Game Pass.
Astro Bot and DualSense, should be a banger.
Space Marine 2 just the standard physical.
LOLLIPOP CHAINSAW RePOP the English Asian PS5 physical import which I've already paid for, but take a few weeks to get here I would think.
The Plucky Squire I was likely to get anyway, but now on Plus will certainly be playing it.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, the Switch is getting some use for what I hope is a great Zelda.

The Maybe Pile:

BAKERU, getting good reviews but close to Astro and not sure if I want to spend £30+ on a digital Switch game in 2024, if it had a physical I would have got day one.
The Casting of Frank Stone, I like these sorta games but is digital only (I would get if it had a physical) and Until Dawn UE5 is in October.
Yars Rising, looks quite good and physical isn't that expensive.
Caravan SandWitch, looks like a me type of indie.
Grapple Dogs: Cosmic Canines, still not played the first.
Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown, might be a good racing game, though I could play umm Need for Speed Unbound.
Demonschool, indie Persona but I still got P3R to play and Metaphor is in October.
Funko Fusion, I like some of the IP and can see this being super cheap super quick that if I saw for like sub £20 might give a bash.
Selfloss, another me looking indie and is getting a physical.
Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, I've never played it, but being so close to Zelda means it very unlikely to be bought anytime soon.
Starfield: Shattered Space Expansion, I did pay for it but not that fussed to be honest.

Yeah a lot of games this month, which few will be waiting for reviews and what not along with am I still playing Space Marine 2 that I'm not getting to a Yars Rising.

Oh I didn't know El Paso, Elsewhere was coming to ps5 so that's another one for the September pile of games I'll likely buy.

Bakeru - I'll wait on a big sale for this I think.

Definite buys:

Wild Bastards
Plucky Squire
Dead Rising remaster
Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

There is a physical of Dead Rising coming in later in the year, if that's more your thing.

Another absolutely stonking month for me.  Of course there's Zelda and Ace Attorney, and probably The Plucky Squire unless it reviews like dog muck on Switch.  But I was impressed with the demo. of Bakeru so I've wishlisted that, and people seemed awed by Demonschool so I'll be keeping an eye on that (even if "indie Persona" does nothing for me), and Paper Ghost Stories looks nice visually even if that's all I'll get out of it.  And I'm still cowed under the weight of last month's games, not all of which I've got (Emio ain't out yet).  And I got Another Code Switch for my birthday.

"Nothing left Septembers"?  Decent pun albeit one we've had before (September's hard to work with), but horribly horribly wrong.

What a great month, my likely top 3 of the Year all release and they're all day ones, these are of course Astro Bot, The Plucky Spire and Pretty Girls Game Collection.

Outside of the big 3 there's a few that interest me down the line,  Bakeru looks good and I'm sure I'll get more impressions from at least one of you here to know for sure if I should play. I'm also curious to see how Grapple Dogs: Cosmic Canines does, the first game was a little flawed but there was potential that I feel a sequel can live up to.

The Broken Sword, Lollipop Chainsaw and Epic Mickey remasters should be enjoyable and I'm also liking the look of Gori: Cuddly Carnage and Shadows of Doubt.

Zelda and Plucky Squire for me, along with the new Splatoon Amiibo. May grab Lollipop Chainsaw as well, I've never played that one. It seems like they've fucked with some of the cool comicbook visuals in the name of photorealism though, which sucks.

I knew there'd be some things I missed, I had to wrap that post up in a hurry to go eat.  Bloomtown looks interesting for sure, for Buska potentially as well as for me (although he should probably try out Cassette Beasts first) and also Moyles.

I'd completely forgotten about Reynatis' existence, here are my thoughts in unnecessary detail as I navigated to its official page:
- From the text preview, "REYNATIS is a game where you play as a wizard or a cop in a world where magic is feared" - one for Buska then.
- For God's sake another stupidly-dressed over-breasted JRPG female character.
- Their swords aren't practical at all.
- Hang on a moment what's Shulk doing in that key art?
- How much!?
- (Onto the gallery) Ah Shibuya, I have an enormous soft spot for games set in Shibuya.  I blame TWEWY.
- That sure is a confusing light show of a JRPG battle.
So: maybe!  I'm not sure!  Probably on sale, or as a present request, or something rather than right away.

Again: an absolutely stonking month.

I probably would have played Casette Beasts by now if Jay Balis didn't rub me the wrong way on BPP.

Oh, forgot to say this - if it makes you feel any better about the game, I went to uni with and can vouch for the other chap behind CB (so the one who did the actual nuts and bolts of the game).  Sweet quiet nerdy goth bloke.  It did mean I got to the end of CB, saw his name in the credits, and had a moment of existential crisis about this being something better than anything I would ever accomplish... but if you don't have that problem he's nice!

In other news Demonschool has been delayed until 2025.

FC 25 has been paid for already, and while I know it’ll be no different to FC 24 I’m happy enough to have an annual update, play it non-stop for a few weeks and then make most of my money back in CEX credit. I’d have liked Bakeru to be a bit cheaper (or, better still, physically released) but I think the current 10% pre-order discount is the best price we’ll be getting on it for a while.

Now that I know The Plucky Squire is getting a physical release later, I’ll hold fire on getting it digitally. The Epic Mickey remaster might be something I get nearer to Christmas and if they’ve genuinely made improvements to the Wii original. It’s a game I should’ve really liked and yet I thought it was a massive letdown in 2010, I felt it didn’t come anywhere close to meeting its promise or potential.

Grapple Dogs: Cosmic Canines can wait for a Boxing Day sale or something, but I’m looking forward to it. I think it was common thought that a sequel could straightforwardly address most of the first Grapple Dogs’ flaws. In the first game I really didn't like that progression was locked behind collecting an awful lot of hidden purple medals - if they remove that barrier then I think Cosmic Canines will be an immediate improvement.

September 26th’s Worms Armageddon Anniversary Edition looks like it’s got a lot going for it, if it’s sensibly priced I think I’ll download that by the month’s end

I know this is always a tainted phrase as it never pans out but Worms is such a great multiplayer game I'm shocked that it's never had a moment as a game for us all to play.

Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland has been dated for 10th September, genuinely quite up for this retro style platformer so might be getting that.

Bakeru might have a physical in Asia (Lollipop Chainsaw has), and can't see it have much of a language barrier.

Plucky Squire physical is February, seems to be a few editions available. Could see me playing on Plus, then picking up a physical later down the road.

Good to see games still getting physicals, been some chat in the SS3 whats app group like PS5 Pro looking to be digtal only out of the box, and how that seems to be where gaming going like the better selling Xbox is the S.

That physicals of indies and Nintendo likely to be a hold out of physical games, all the modern stuff of the other two eventually might push me more towards Nintendo and retro.

Even PS and Xbox "physical" games are usually more of a license to download the bulk of the game anyway, these days.

Games got too big because the CEOs are all tech idiots, and now they've become unworkable and inconvenient for graphical improvements which most punters aren't interested in.

Quite a few PS games are on the disc as use UHD (Xbox different due to smart delivery, often the XBONE game on the disc not Series X), even things like sites such as site does it play, but in this day in age so many updates and content drops etc as well that what's on disc could be very different

Plus like to have what "ownership" I can, compared to buying digtal with the ability to sell on, lend out etc

Then games are £70, if all digtal, I'd certainly wouldn't be buying that many games for that price and take risks. Of course inflation, so by time PS6/7 is digtal only what games going to be £80-90. Certainly wouldn't be playing a Banishers like I have this year.

Didn't expect that and the Quidditch thing to be in this month's PS Plus - Sony had sort-of stopped doing that with their "everybody gets this" online offering. Mind you they've had a bit of a flail-y month.

Speaking of months - the fact I'm not thinking about getting the Plucky Squire because I know I won't play it straight away, even though it's clearly excellent... we got Zelda and Astro Bot, two of the goodest girls/non-specific robots.
