What are you playing on your Wii U/Wii right now?

I forgot it had multitap! And it doesn't to me, the BBoPs have seemed to be moving towards online multiplayer primarily for quite a while now. But then y'all know how divorced I am from such things.

Following the recommendation of gjones in the Last Game You Completed thread, I bought Letter Quest Remastered, a word-puzzle-based-RPG that I somehow missed the first time around. I am a ruddy addict! Thanks, g - it's a sweet little game.

I feel if they got behind the Nintendo Land style of multiplayer then Wii U could have had a lot more success, there really are few multiplayer experiences like it and I'll happily break it out again some point in the future when the console is all but forgotten by most.

Currently I'm playing bugger all on Wii U. However come Saturday a certain game will be occupying the disc slot for quite some time I can imagine...

I think it's highly unlikely that I'll play anything on my Wii U for quite a while. Until I finally get around to unwrapping LoZTPHD. I got the amiibo out of the box for top BotW doggo, does that count?

I'd say it counts. I'm in two minds if I'm going to use the Wolf Link amiibo for BotW.

I'm going to try it out, definitely. It's a great use of an amiibo and deserves to be respected.

Sorry for the DoPo, but - nothing. Not for a good long while. Today, I packed up the Wii U and all the games I own for it (a paltry collection next to the 3DS or Wii, yet not as bad as some would have you believe), and all the Wii paraphernalia in my flat, and the GC controllers and their adapter... and put it all into the trunk which I use as a coffee table, along with the issues of Nintendo Gamer and its forebears that I rescued from my parents' threat to chuck them all out.

End of an era. A slightly disappointing era, but an era nonetheless. There are games and aspects I'll miss, for sure.

(May have left the Gamepad out because I can't find the telly remote I brought to my flat... )

If the Switch can't let me turn the volume down when I'm watching Up (or the volume up while I'm... you're way ahead of me) then it is the Number One Tripemachine. The bar has been raised.

I was hoping to have played Breath of the Wild this morning, but sadly Amazon didn't order in enough stock to deliver to everyone. I did manage to pick it up from Asda though, so just downloading the update for it just now.

Blimey! I haven't done the same yet. In fact, I still have my Gamecube set up, and would have my Wii if the Wii U didn't render it moot. I'll still do the odd multiplayer bit or bob, and there are downloaded titles and things I like to play "for a laugh" so I won't be chucking it just yet. That said, I have more or less committed now to giving the Wii U to my brother when he goes to Uni in a few months. By that time we'll have Mario Kart andSpla2n on Switch, so I think I can let it go. I'm happy the old gal will see some love and stay in the family, though.

I'm still on Test Match Special Tokyo Mirage Sessions, now on Chapter 4's dungeon. It's going to go right to the top of my Wii U Most Played list before it's done (and be a considerable outlier, too), as I'm not even halfway through the game and have clocked up just over forty hours. It's really good fun but it's one of those that'll need a couple of breaks in playing before it's over (and I've had one of those breaks already! ).

This saddens me.

I keep the last issue of Nintendo Gamer on my bedside table - it's always worth a glance. Mostly because of the Vault pages. Inside the bedside unit itself, is every issue of NGC.

I'm surprised my wife is still with me.

My Wii U is still on display but Switch is using it's Plug and HDMI now, I doubt I will ever plug it back in to be honest but I'm not going to get rid of it with 4 Zelda Universe games on it and almost 50 downloads.

I don't why the downloads matter as the Xbox 360 I would had have hundreds on it and a few on PS3. I can't think of any that are truly special either, to go back to but most I've not played and I'm thinking some day (it never happen), I will plug it back in and play Master Reboot for instance.

The system that are connected are the PS4, Switch, Cube as why would you ever want to unplug this and Dreamcast as then I run out of connections on the TV.

I took my Wii U down to my folks' house at Christmas, that's where it'll live now. It's settled between the SNES and the Sega Saturn under the coffee table, waiting patiently to be played two, maybe three times a year. I found closure with the Wii U about least eighteen months ago, but, aye, this is now it, over and done, consigned to the past.

That's the best place to keep the final issue, GJones. Your wife is a lucky lady.

As for the consoles, I'm a naturally tidy man, and can't see myself playing the Wii U for a while now. Maybe if the Switch is really dead I'll finally play TPHD... however I'm worried I'll just feel disappointed after BotW! Hopefully Snippers and 12S, followed by MK8D, will fill in on the multiplayer front.

It's shame about the Wii U; it was an amazing console but it was hampered by crap marketing from the off and didn't have the innovative games on it that the Wii had. I'll have mine out for quite some time since it's a great way to blow a few hours each weekend. Oh, and BotW really is a fitting send off for the system.

I don't know how it'll feel going back to another Zelda, though. BotW feels so innovative and whilst it's nothing like the other games in the franchise it feels as though it should have been like this from the start.

My Wii U is sat next to my Switch where it'll stay for the foreseeable future, Switch is using it's HDMI cable but I'd like to keep it there if the urge is ever there, I've still plenty of unfinished games on it.

Given that my Wii U also has all my unfinished Wii games on it, there must be about forty games on it that I've yet to conquer. Not all of them will have their time come, alas.

I just spent an hour on Excite Truck and I'm wondering why it's well liked on this forum. Granted, I've only done the Bronze Cup but I'm not sure my issues will change - so far it's been less than enjoyable. It felt like a game of 4 Wheel Thunder if the vehicles' tyres were bathed in vaseline, which when coupled with the sideways Wii-mote a la Mario Kart Wii means that you never really feel in control. Add in a crash animation every time you hit anything that's off the road and it's a tedious concoction of 5 seconds wrestling with the controls and then hammering at A to get back on the track.

Am I missing something? Can it be played without the motion controls?

I think it's just the over the topness that appeals. The ridiculous jumps, outrageous drifts and the big damn trucks tickles me. Also, and I know this is a rubbish answer and I apologise, I think I enjoyed it more because I happen to be really bloody good at it. Less crashes, more excitement.

Great game but I've not played it in possibly 11 years, which may be a reason it's not doing anything for ya gJones as it may have not aged well.

I think it's the controls mostly as my favourite racing games from that mid-2000s era are Burnout 3, F-Zero GX and Outrun 2. They are all very tight and satisfying to control - I hated the Wii instalment of Mario Kart with the tilty wheel and used GameCube controllers instead. I guess if I learnt the levels it would be easier to play, but the actual gameplay (and the lifeless levels) just aren't doing anything for me.

'Tilt to turn' was the worst use of motion control I ever experienced, be it on Mario Kart Wii or Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity. Couldn't adapt to it at all. Here's hoping you have better luck than I did, g!
