| Yesterday two games fell.
Super Mario Bros. Deluxe
It's still the same classic game as ever but the GBC's resolution meant that you couldn't see the full screen at any one time. Pressing up shifts the camera's focus and, mercifully, Lakitu is always visible no matter where you're looking. However, with Super Mario Bros. already on my 3DS thanks to the Ambassador programme, I can't see myself dipping much more into SMBD.
7/10
Mighty Switch Force! Hyper Drive Edition
The best thing to say about MSF!HDE is that it made me nostalgic for the original and also reinforced its superiority over MSF!2. I haven't checked out the Hyper versions of any of the levels: my goal was to blast through as quickly as possible. It's the same as it ever was: a competent platform puzzler, starved of enough content to make it great.

| It's strange to see somebody rating any version of Mighty Switch Force more positively than any version of Super Mario Bros.
I just didn't enjoy MSF (on 3DS back in 2011-12) as much as everyone else, it seems. Honestly, I think I'm the only one who felt WayForward would have been better off making an HD port of Mighty Milky Way. |

| Just finished A Link Between Worlds. It's instantly sprung into my top 3 Zelda games. The dungeons are simply brilliant! |

7/10 I remember being completely addicted to the red coin/Yoshi egg hunts in that game. I spent just about one whole summer playing it the year it came out. |

| Sounds like I should put more time into SMBD, then. I have yet to let go of the crushing disappointment it served me when it first came out, really. "Yay, portable Super Mario Bros.! Wait, what's this? Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww..." Man up, ZJ! Anyway... A Link To The PastBought to coincide with A Link Between Worlds, I've long held it as my favourite Zelda. Since then, I've loved Wind Waker, the nostalgia rush of Skyward Sword, and the compressed genius of A Link Between Worlds. LttP is old. Perhaps even very old. It's all classic fun, and I recommend it to anyone who's not played it, but it's lost some of its lustre. 8/10 |

| Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D Everyone knows that this is a good game, a solid platformer which is difficult but fair. I wouldn't disagree with that. What I personally didn't like about it was the pacing and the complexity - DK has a fair few moves in his repertoire and moves relatively slowly, resulting in a side scroller that feels more ponderous than most I've played. The level of difficulty was remarkably inconsistent, the boss battles being easier than almost every level in the world preceding them, and even though the game is polished and packed with collectables, it is a game I'm glad to have gotten through and I have no real desire ever to go back through the worlds to find them. I certainly won't be buying Tropical Freeze. 6.5/10 |

| It's odd - while I can agree with all of your criticisms, I strongly disagree with the number at the end. DK's slower movement seems perfect for the big ape (it sounds like that's been changed in TF), and while the boss battles were pathetic (another thing that TF seems to have fixed), they weren't enough of a downside to drag the whole game below an 8 or so for me.
I agree with ZJ's LttP summary, though. It's still a good game, but it's an old good game. Apart from a challenge viewpoint, ALBW now outclasses it in every way. |

It's biased in that it's a purely personal view, but the way I see it, I rated it 3/5 stars on my Backloggery, so I'd have to give it something in the region between 6.0 and 7.0ish. If I were to use the inflated "game review" percentage system I'd probably give it something like 75, 80%. Not a bad game, just not my kind of thing. |

| I hate the 5/5 stars, I don't use the rating system on backloggery as I would give games 5/5 as there closer to 10/10 then a 8/10 if i gave them 4/5. It's a rubbish system.

| LA Noire
More gameplayey than I expected it to be, even if a little too much of it is on autopilot. Also, the shooting bits are actually better than most shooting games.
Dialogue is pretty decent too- less heavy on the Social Satire of GTA, and as such the dialogue between Cole and $partner[$desk] seems more naturalistic. |

| Super Little Acorns 3D Turbo
Right up my street this, a lot of fun to be had for the price as you won't be able to resist going for the 100% completion and when the platforming gets in full flow it's great to see everything coming together. Also easy to pick up and play on short journeys, if I could ask for anything it'd be to lengthen the challenge mode a little more as it ended just as it was picking up.

| Love Super Little Acorns 3D Turbo. Anyway, this unusual period of game completion will almost certainly end with: DuckTales: RemasteredThis is a strange one. There's clearly much love for the cartoon shown in the cutscenes, to the extent that it's like playing some sort of anniversary episode. The game wrapped in this delicious cloak of love is still mostly the same one you may have played in 1990, though. It's difficult to know what to feel about that, and the fact that you could beat it in one charge of the GamePad. 6/10 |

That kind of reiterates my point, though, that as soon as you get more specific you get more biased. 3/5 stars means "average" or "good" but in gaming terms, 60% means "pretty shitty". |

| There was a review of Attack of the Friday Monsters here, but I edited over it because I am an idiot and it's been a long week. Anyway, I didn't like it much - it was patronising and rather dull, with an awful battle system, even if it did present quite a nice picture of a Tokyo suburb. 3/10, say.

| Ach well, at least you gave it a shot. Mind you, I think you've overlooked the best thing about it - that the mood manages to be extremely evocative of a time and place we (as in you and I) never knew. It's very powerful and expressive for what's just an Nintendo eShop game, in my opinion. |

| I did feel that I might have got more out of it if I'd grown up in a Japanese village/suburb. Maybe the setting would have managed it regardless, were it not encumbered with (what I felt was) such twee dialogue.
To qualify my opinion to everyone else, I should say that the Internet as a whole seems to agree with TCK rather than me. |

| I dunno, it just never really hooked me. I thought one too many of the missions were reasonably tedious. I never really wanted to do more than a few missions at a time and on more than one occasion I got bored during a mission and kind of wished it would be over so I could do something else. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy it in fits and starts - I just didn't think it was amazing. |

| Eh, I can see how that might happen, although it really didn't for me. The hope of another Luigi cut-scene, another shiny thing, or just the ghosts doing something silly, kept me going until the penultimate mission, for which I was too stressed to be bored. |

| Advance Wars - Felt kind of weird going back to play the original for the first time after having played through the other three. Felt a bit basic, really. Still, it's Advance Wars, so it was good stuff.
Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc - I liked it a hell of a lot /shameless plug |

| I bloody love the plot of Danganronpa. Of course, I don't know how different the official translation is from the Something Awful one, but I can't imagine that the change undoes its brilliance. |
