| You don't slag off all other platformers, or all other action-adventures, no end, though. It's a series you like in a genre you hate to a huge degree: I think that's interesting enough to ask about, although of course you don't have to answer. |

| Agree with balla there's always a game that's the cream of the crop of its genre but only one series of a whole genre though. I'm not sure if it's even the top the genre either.
Also is zelda action - adventure, never thought it as one more if it's own genre or action - rpg if has to be classed as something. |

| Not baiting, just trying to start discussion! I'm not saying "how dare you hate JRPGs": I'm just curious as to why these particular ones are off the hook.
And I don't know why you had my real name down there: it didn't even seem to be a joke this time. Please don't. |

| You know that I don't slag off JRPGs no end, you know it isn't a type of game I hate to a huge degree, and you know it isn't an interesting topic to be talking about. Not for it. |

| Nah, it's me that should apologise: I misread the end of your earlier post as reading 'although of course you don't have an answer' rather than 'to answer', and I thought you were being antagonistic.
Still, I don't think I slag off JRPGs no end and I think 'hate' to a strong way of putting it. |

| Ahhhhh. Yes, was just saying that you don't need to justify your game choices to people on the Internet. I save all my antagonism for Pac-Man. And maybe "hate" is too strong a word: you'd know better than I would! |

The Last Story
A very ambitious game, The Last Story falls short of true greatness in three small, nit-picky ways. The first is the slowdown, which can be horrendous in places ("You push the Wii too far?! We frame-rate-drop-kick your ass!"). The second is the utterly cliché-ridden story, with even the final twist as predictable as rain at Wimbledon.
DIGRESSION ALERT: Had hoped to finish the game earlier and have that gag be a bit more topical. Only 356 days to go!
Finally, the fact that there are times when you are reduced to being a cut-scene manager. Other than that, the battle mechanics are brilliant, the voice acting is grand (with some reasonable people involved; the chap who voices lothario Lowell was in Future BAFTA Award winning Happy Valley) and the whole zips along at a pleasant pace.

| Another game downed, this time it's Spongebob Squigglepants on the 3DS.
Mixed opinion of this. The WarioWare microgame formula works well with the source material, and it's as simple and quick as the WarioWare games, but although the themes and art styles are varied I couldn't help but feel it wasn't as imaginative or challenging as it could have been. It's highly repetitive too - in a round of games that lasted 35 turns, two of them appeared in the exact same form at the exact same difficulty at least five times. Ultimately, while it has it's charms, there's just not enough content for me to be recommending it at more than a fiver or so. 5/10.

| Transformers: Fall of Cybertron PS3I just finished this earlier today. It was a fun little acion game; nothing special, really, but I don't play many shooters and this piled on the Transformers nostalgia so I thoroughly enjoyed it. I had a few glitches early on that froze the game, and the graphics occasionally dropped to N64-like polygons when there was too much going on in the background. The voice work was good, as you'd expect; I could never get tired of hearing Peter Cullen's Optimus Prime. The only weird part was Shockwave sounding so much like Garrus. Anyway, I loved it as a TF fan but at the end of the day it's the very definition of 7/10. Wrote a poem, as I do. It's as much about the feeling of loving a stupid game as it is about this one in particular. |

| 7 yikes that's a high score for that, most reviewers giving it around a 5 mainly for reason you brought up. The 3DS version is meant to be quite good, getting 7's from most. Anyway my turn This was the game announced during Sony's E3 conference to be out that day, It looked quite good but wanted to wait for reviews before buying. There rather mixed PS gave it 8/10 saying it's one of the best indies on the PS4, whilst IGN gave it a 6/10. So was holding off to see if it came to PSN+, one of the things that I don't like now about myself, I really want to play Octodad but know it will one day come to PSN+, so I'll just wait. But as I need to add funds to pay for Guacamelee which was only £2.70 and everyone raving about that, thought i'd get Entwined at the same time. This is a strange game it plays a bit like REZ or Child Eden, like on rails shooter but without any shooting. You control a goldfish and bluebird which each have there own stick mapped to them and side, so the goldfish stays on the left side. The goal is to get the character into there coloured markers on the screen which sounds easy but isn't with the almost psychedelic backgrounds at points. The music is good which ads to the experience, once you hit enough markers your meter lights up once both goldfish & bluebird have full meters you can join them to make a dragon at the end of the level which are called lifetimes in this. Then it turns into flower at the end as a dragon where you collect orbs to unlock the next lifetime. I really liked it, the only negative I can put towards it is that it's short. It took 2hrs and reckon that would be much shorter if I didn't stop to check twitter etc. There is a challenge mode which ads a little bit extra. The other problem with this compared to flower or journey which are also short is that it lacks a bit of feeling that drive that emotion which is a surprise seeing this about of a fish & bird. The final score is 7/10, I played on PS4 it is coming to PS3 & VITA (not sure how it play with those small sticks) and is cross-buy but I would say unless you've got the spare funds or really like artistic Indies such as flower, journey. I would say wait for it to come to PSN+. |

This isn't the most recent one, it's the second one, which I think did okay in reviews? And like I said, my review just reflects my enjoyment of the game and I love transformers enough that it was easily 7/10-worthy. I haven't played Flower or Journey yet, but I really like the look of this. I'm guessing you'd say to play them first? |

| Ohh yeah I see now it's the second one from high noon my bad, I was thinking of the new one.
Well entwined isn't on ps3 yet and is different Dev as flower & journey but has seem as them. Journey I found amazing and is in my top 25 game's whilst Andy thinks it shit. There all relatively cheap to download, so it's worth the punt on them. |

| I enjoyed every second of this interactive text adventure, where the text is masterfully entwined with the puzzles and narrative in a way videogames can only provide. And what puzzles they are, to the point where I had to grab a piece of paper to sketch out possible solutions in some cases. The overarching narrative and story is really clever, too, and the ending has certainly made me think (and play through the entire thing once more to double check). It's presented beautifully, as well, and fits its host platform to a tee: rotating the device to read text whereby our protagonist, Anna, makes a particular decision isn't just novel, it helps direct your attention. And the controls are as slick as what you'd expect. The game will throw you back to the start of each chapter of the story (there are six) whenever you quit, which is great -- given each chapter has one central puzzle to solve revolving around all the text and audiovisual elements within, so you're more likely to find new clues or discover something you hadn't if you return the game after being stuck before. To say any more would be to start spoiling the plot, but if you've got an iOS device this is a must play and an unforgettable experience. |

| I really did enjoy what I played of this until I got stuck on chapter three but I will return to it one day, its a real shame Simogo can only seem to afford (size of the team rather than money) to develop for iOS some of their other games would easily suit being on a Nintendo platform.
They use the feature set of ioS device in great ways it really does make me think what they could come up with for the gamepad. |

Also is the game on droid. |

| As I order it's direct sequel earlier in the week, I decided that the next game I should go back and finish was Professor Layton & The Miracle Mask.
In tone, art style, musical composition and logic it's unsurprisingly much like the templete laid down by The Curious Village and replicated in Pandora's Box, The Lost Future and The Spectre's Call, but it's still a very charming and warm game to enjoy. That forty-hour long Mummy Chamber got on my tits, mind. Still, Zavvi have it for cheap, and if you're unaquinted with Layton I feel The Miracle Mask is as good a starting point as the very first one. Very satisfied, 8/10. |

| Could have done without the mummy thing. Could also have done without Randall in general, if I'm honest, especially "baby Randall"'s voice. |

Also is the game on droid. Ten people now . Not sure how big Simogo are, didn't seem like there were more than ten people involved with DEVICE 6 though. And remember Hello Games probably have special help from Sony with publishing and admin and so on -- iOS is a platform with much lower barriers to entry for all developers. No Android version for DEVICE 6, a sadly common trend (looking at the sales figures for Android versions of iOS games it's understandable though). Though admittedly DEVICE 6 very much feels like an iOS app rather than a game, so not sure how well it would translate to Android (which has apps that 'feel' very different). |

That's why I also brought up dust which was 1 man but MS might of helped like they did with dishwasher. |

Agreed, I think it's the piracy that does it: http://www.slashgear.com/95-android-game-piracy-experience-highlights-app-theft-challenge-15282064/ And other things like designing for lots of different devices rather than a handful, though I'd imagine that isn't a big deal nowadays anyway. |
