Othello. My goodness. I remember playing it on the Game Boy. I am not terribly excited, though.

This could be really neat! There's something about the concept of Othello that just sits nicely with me.

The fact this can be played multiplayer, one game pad, no tv could see this being quite popular in some houses. If they make checkers and chess as well, it could be huge!

If it's mega-cheap, then fine.

Gah, Arc System Works are here yet again to put shovelware onto Nintendo download platforms - it's all over WiiWare and the (Japanese) 3DS eShops, of that I assure you.

As such I have little enthusiasm for what looks like an inspired Wii U entry of Othello.

There's no evidence that it's anywhere near as cool as the game of Othello Nintendo showed off in the Wii U Introduction trailer nearly two years ago, which had players share the GamePad on a table to play the game and tilting said GamePad would 'clear the board'. Edit: watching that old trailer was really interesting. The GamePad back then in particular looks a lot sleeker (but more like a tablet, something Nintendo is keen to avoid), but I had forgotten entirely about Wii Sports U. Looks like it has the same elements of asymmetric play (with the baseball catching), so great for the kind of family interaction Nintendo are aiming for with the system. Perhaps it'll be announced this year at E3?
