Semi-genuine question: did the person who came up with 'hard disc' and 'floppy disc' make the naming phallic intentionally? Because it feels like that's the only place the terminology could go.

According to google, floppy discs are called floppy because the first ones were 8 inches wide and made of vinyl, so the flopped about when you waved them around.
Hard discs are called hard discs because the inventor, Horace Heltsenberger, had - at the time of filing the patent - a full erection.

I presume he also spelled 'disk' wrong.

The forum was a wee bit wonky this week as you may have noticed, but everything should be back to normal now! If there's anything you've noticed that's still broken, let me or Balla know and we'll try our best to sort it.

EDIT: Okay so the likes and dislikes made me go into the forum settings and fiddle around with some stuff. Would people like or dislike to:
- have the (currently enabled) quick reply option;
- see dislikes? I can't tell if it's funnier to just have a pile of dislikes or not.

The quick reply thing threw me off at first. I kind of like it on the computer.

Not really a fan of the likes and dislikes. If it's to stick around, I'd prefer something a bit more tailored to the forum. Would sooner tap a Tingle button any day.

I love the quick reply box, and the old option is still there as well, so I think it'd be daft to remove that.

Likes and dislikes are a bit lame, though, would sooner have people actually reply if they like something, and call me a cunt when I'm a cunt.

I'm personally a fan of the quick reply box - one fewer click, which as a lazy man I can get behind.

Anyway, that's a pretty emphatic decision against the likes/dislikes. I must admit I kind of liked them while they were here! They were only ever going to be used to troll... However, the people have spoken.
