| Having now seen two massive lists of games he hates, I am starting to understand the anger. |

| The N64 is probably my favourite system of all time. It was 'the' 3D machine, with the majority of games and ideas on the platform helping forge how we play 3D games today, and it is one of the best representations of how Nintendo hardware is designed to bring certain software ideas to life, rather than just as a platform to play games on. The key N64 games have all aged really well in a timeless way, too. Technical foibles aside, Super Mario 64, Lylat Wars, Wave Race 64, Mario Kart 64, GoldenEye 007, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask and many others are all still as relevant today as they were back then. Even more so in the case of GoldenEye 007 simply because the FPS genre shifted away (around the time of Halo) to a template that's a lot easier for developers to run with. - The_Jaster wrote:

None of those really but it was the artist formally known as sporkhead that coined it...just a bit fun really. I can't take credit for this! Dusty_Knackers came up with it a year back, but it never became anything. Made sense to bring it back amidst all the ranting about games he does though xD |

| Ahhh I see, my mistake sorry about that.
Question, anyone got that one N64 game they can't help but fire on every so often? |

That said, Mario Kart 64, ISS 64, F-Zero X, Mario Tennis, Rakuga Kids and Wave Race 64 all get a good amount of playtime. The one I keep coming back to and playing from start to finish is Pokémon Snap (which you can rattle through in a couple of hours). On the other hand, I've got games in my collection that I don't think I've even played, let alone slotted into my N64 for a while. |

| Ooh boy. It's either going to be MMM from B-K, or it's Dire Dire Docks.
...sorry Mr. Kirkhope, but Mario edges it. That water music is sublime. And when the drums kick in when you enter the cave/reach the surface in the sub room... Happy days. |

| Probably Clock Town Day 2. Find myself humming that every now and then even though I've not played Majora's Mask in years. |

| Eh, it's too discordant for my liking. I know it's meant to be, because there's a bloody evil moon about to crush you, but I prefer my Clock Town music with a jaunty kick to it. |

| I reckon I might have to go for how they reworked some of the James Bond themes in Goldeneye, especially the one for Archives. |

| That's a ruddy tough question. I'm tempted to say the credits theme from Mario Kart 64 or Darkmoon Caverns from Diddy Kong Racing, but there's bound to be about another fifty contenders that I've temporarily forgotten. |

I could probably quote most of this ( ), although that's more from fighting on Kongo Jungle in Mêlée or Jungle Japes in Brawl. |

| As a serious answer, Requiem Of Spirit, which is the final warp song from Ocarina of Time.
(That link should take you straight to it in that compilation, but if it doesn't it's at 5m20)
As mentioned, it's the last warp song you learn, which takes you to the final dungeon before Ganon. Link's quest is nearly over- Hyrule is all but saved, peace can return to the land once more- the Zora can thaw out, the Kokiri can walk freely around the forest, the refugees in Kakariko can go back home to Hyrule Castle Town. Everybody's happy!
Except the music, which is really sad. Link's quest is nearly over- there's only one more dungeon now, and then Ganon. Then that's it.
No more Ocarina of Time.
Alright, it's still there- a quick press of Reset and you're back at the title screen and can kick off a new quest, but it won't be the same. You know that the Zora are going to freeze over, you know Kokiri forest is going to have a Deku Plant problem, it isn't going to be a shock stepping out of the Temple Of Time to see the once-bustling Hyrule Castle Town Market become a decimated ReDead hive any more.
You can't play it again for the first time, and Requiem Of Spirit knows it. |
