Do you know what? I'm disappointed that his voice isn't gruff enough. The trouble is, thanks to the internet, I've been expecting Danny Devito...

I don't think that's solely the Internet's fault. Ever since he's been revealed as a 'hard-boiled'* character, a deep voice has seemed fair.
*Coming soon, the sequel: Detective Chansey.

100% in for this, mostly for the Amiibo though...
I have a problem.

The first step on the path to cure is admitting that you have a problem. I have no idea what the next step is, though.

It hurts me to see them not nearly lined up and with their respective game series.
FYI I pre ordered the Amiibo but not the game...

To clarify I want the game but I've learnt my lesson with Amiibo, can see myself finding a better price for the game though.

Had to order this from Amazon when neither of the local GAME stores - or Tesco, which was an outside bet, to be fair - had copies of the game. Guess I'll have to use Bide for a few days...

Japan had a demo for Detective Pikachu. Quite disappointed that's not on our eshop
Never mind!
I played through the demo of this on the train today. I enjoyed my time with it, but not necessarily in the sense of playing it. I liked the story and characters, the music and presentation, the little glimpses of people actually living in the Pokemon world and interacting with the creatures . . .
The gameplay, though, was L.A Noire by way of CBeebies. It was painfully obvious to the point of feeling insulting. I'm aware this was the opening, tutorial chapter but it was making me jump through hoops to reach solutions I'd already reached.
I'm really unsure, particularly after seeing Zero's foreboding words about his upcoming review. Maybe I should act like the modern kids, and just watch a playthrough instead . . .
On the plus side, the demo lasted almost exactly the length of my train journey, and gave me something to play while I force myself to take a breather before diving straight back into Ace Attorney.

I had good fun with it. Yes it's a kid's game and you will work everything out way before the game lets you jump to the conclusion, and I had the overarching mystery wrapped up by chapter 5 (which is halfway through).
But detective pikachu himself never ceases to be funny, just for the sheer lunacy of it, and the charm holds the whole thing up. Exploring the locales and seeing a different take on the Pokemon world, especially with how pokemon work in more grounded settings, is good fun.

It's still one that I'm super intrigued in checking out, but considering my frustration in the few Ace Attorney cases where I worked out the solution three steps before the game wanted me to, I'm concerned that I'd be incredibly frustrated with ol' Detective Pikachu. Is there a hard mode where the mysteries become as intangible as the true meaning behind The Shining and all the characters speak exclusively in stream of consciousness á la Ulysses?

I have to say I also bought it as something of a collector's item, I can't imagine it will have shifted many copies. I couldn't find it anywhere in store so had to order from the Nintendo online store in the end.
I am gonna go see the film next year anyway - with the vague hope it will resolve the annoyingly left open mystery at the end of the game (even though the answer seems so obvious!)
