| Netflix and Nintendo plan to do a live action Zelda series according to WSJ. Also in a recent interview Iwata wants to bring out cheaper simpler games akin to mobile also more remakes of classics but more like 3D classics's which we have had. Oldschool has his three pillars Game Hardware, Game Software and Health which includes QoL and might include educational things in the future. Have we been here before |

Yep, read this just now... my thoughts: (really think Zelda should be left alone for adaptation - won't translate to live action without feeling hammy) |

| Jay hits the nail on the head in the GGD forum. For the majority of a Zelda game's playtime you are in a dungeon with your exposition fairy; any live adaptation will contain action aplenty but the drama will be non-existent or, worse, manufactured. As for more games with a lower price point, it's a big Zero 'yes' (as long as they're not cheap, if you see what I mean). Remakes I'm not so sure about: there have been NES Classics and 3D Classics in recent(ish) times and whilst they scratch an itch, they're not all that fulfilling. |

| If there's to be a Zelda TV series, I'd rather it were an anime. The same applies to almost any Japan-developed videogame, actually.
I actually think that Hyrule Warriors would make a better TV series. Bombastic action as standard, and a wider selection of main characters. |

| I rather doubt there is anything to worry about. Because I honestly can't see this actually coming to fruition, even now it's barely anything more than an idea and has a extremely long time before it will be realized. Plenty of time for something to stop it from happening cropping up, and I believe something will indeed come up. |

| I don't get the worries, Netflix have knocked it out of the park with pretty much every original series they have. |

| It's less to do with Netflix and more to do with the fact that Zelda won't translate to screen without some major issues - Stanley bloody Kubrick could rise from the grave and proclaim that he's going to be directing it and I'd still have concerns. |

| I could honestly see a zelda series working as a live action series, but not with anything below a Lord of the Rings level of budget. |

| I suppose it does depend on what they choose to do with it, but I'd imagine they'd do a fresh story and simply borrow the standard 3 characters, locations and Triforce/Master Sword mechanic. |

| I reckon it'd be an Ocarina of Time adaptation, with some creative liberties taken in regards to the dungeons. |

I would go with this. The will use one of the games, keep in mind the franchise canon and them make a story that works for television, very loosely based on what we play. If it works, great, if it doesn't, so be it, our lives will go on. Can't be worse than the Super Mario Bros. movie right? |

An excellent point! I look forward to seeing how it unfolds, anyway. |

| There's definitely potential for something good to come of this; particularly if it tells a story not seen in any of the games, so I'm not going to lose my mind like some corners of the Internet All the same, I'm hesitant to get too excited. |

| My only worry is the fact we've heard the Zelda story dozens of times before, it can work but they'd have to come up with something bigger than just the Triforce/hero of time shtick. Would like to see multiple enemies/allies and different attempts to conquer Hyrule rather than one big quest to stop Gannon. |

| They could still stick to that and possibly make the main conflict until the final arc be about the various struggles to get the Triforce. In essence that was what the childhood part of Ocarina basically was. |

I don't like any of that - it's just needlessly divisive. Let your game stand on its feet instead of having to resort to obvious bait and headline grabbers. |

| True indeed. It's just sad to see - I'd be surprised to see any comments about the game itself on that article, as they'll all be about Anita. On a side note, I'm really glad the debate about her and that whole toxic scene surrounding her hasn't made its way into this forum. |

| "Gamergate"? It did make a tiny appearance, possibly in Off-Topic actually. But it was a while after the event, and was generally discussed in a civilised manner, and quickly dropped. The Nicest Corner of the Internet, indeed. |
