| Probably for the best, as a whole. Having to cater to last-gen platforms is a resource drain, so devs can focus more on squeezing out as much power as they can from the new systems. |

| I still think even in NZ there will still be games coming to last gen for quite sometime look at the PS2 that got FIFA 13 or something and the Wii is getting Just Dance. |

| Yakuza 5 is being sent out to die as it's coming in mid-November which is a shame and also no word if it will be on PSNOW for people like me who moved on to PS4 from PS3, 2 years ago. |

| A sad, but inevitable result. I can only hope Sega don't completely give up off the back of it... |

| I think it's less "spiritual successor" and more "potential lawsuit". |

| This evening PlayStation had there normally GamesCom conference but at Paris Games Week instead, I watched it live and so did a few of you as we were tweeting about it. Any this what happened if you didn't watch and it was a weird conference. It had trailers for some smaller games before it started, with things like Shadow of the Beast, anyone care about this Mega Drive Cult Classic? When it started proper we got:
- COD: Black Ops III showing Zombies DLC which I guess will come 30 days first on PS4
- Star Wars Battlefront which again looks good but it was rather muh from the BETA
- Street Fighter V which is coming 16th of Feb
- Tekken 7 which will have exclusive content and will work with VR
- Battleborn BETA first on PS4
- Boundless looks nice, minecraft type game
- Avicii: Vector a music racer thing
- No Man's Sky now coming June but might mean it's going to work with VR also if it needs this time to better so be it
- Matterfall a CGI trailer but it's from Housemarque
- Ratchet & Clank trailer, looking good and I kinda want to play a 3D platformer
- Horizon: Zero Dawn take my money
- Bloodborne DLC which will be out Nov 24th and in the GOTY version
- DriveClub Bikes which is out now and is a standalone expansion for £9.99
- Gravity Rush 2 surprised to see at PGW the sequel to the cult classic VITA game
- Uncharted 4 MP, looking good and have heard good things about TLoU's MP that it may be good
- Dreams looks lovely but I still not have any idea what it is
- Shu with VR showing RIGS, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, Robinson: The Journey, Battlezone
- Gran Turismo Sport which seems more of an App game thing then a actual full fledged game also works with VR which makes so much sense
- Michel Ancel with WiLD, don't let Balla look at the end
- David Cage bringing back Kara with Detroit: Become Human which I'm all over
It was a weird conference as reading that back I will buy nearly all of them and really hyped for about 6 of the games but it seemed to drag and paced weird. Hoping PSX will be better and Jim Ryan doesn't present and we get House, Boyles, Shuhei also I wonder what they will show maybe God of War IV, Bend's game. |

The minecraft comparison bugs me a little here, yes the art style is similar but from the trailer I watched in terms of the gameplay it looks nothing like minecraft. |

| It's not just you saying it btw as I seen a few games media types saying it also & I just felt it's a lazy comparison based on how the games looks. |

| Even the official blurb makes it sound like an online crafting game.
On PGW, PUSH ran a pole with the Top 5 being in order Detroit: Become Human, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Gravity Rush 2, WiLD and Ratchet & Clank
Which does look like a rather great Top 5 and varied in genres. |

| Yeah in the pole by one vote over Horiozn, I voted for it myself as I think David's games are great. |

| The five that looked most interesting to me was Ratchet & Clank, Ratchet & Clank, Ratchet & Clank, Ratchet & Clank & Ratchet & Clank. |

| But Horizon seems to be a western take on Monster Hunter with Robot Dinosaurs, Robot Dinosaurs! |

| Nah, Horizon does look good (quite intrigued by Wild too) but I wouldn't say it's anything like monster hunter apart from the fact you hunt robot monsters. |

| I've seen lots compare it to Monster Hunter as from what we've seen you go out and hunt robots instead of monsters and scavenge parts instead of harvesting to make better gear to kill bigger robots.
But from the last showing RPG elements seem more of focus and there's a story as well. |

| At first glance I can see why some would make that comparison but will it have the same depth that MH has? Are the monsters going to be as unpredictable & yet feel alive like they do in MH? It's also a open world game, isn't it? So that takes it even further away from being like MH & when you make a comparison like that in my opinion you are giving it some big shoes to fill.
As I've said elsewhere it's lazy to say "oh it's like game X" when you can just say what it is & that's an open world RPG. |
