Up date from me about job in GAME, I was offered a job as a senior sales adviser on the highest contract in the south west region of 24hrs. So I turned it down, as I'm on more hours & pay a hour at ASDA and more surprisingly better staff discount. I was considered for the deputy job but I didn't get that but I believe that went to a former staff member whom I think got me the job as senior sales adviser. I would of liked of took the job and talking to staff members and former members I think I could of done full time hours and more each week but that's not always for certain and holiday pay only be contract.

I've had a couple of near misses with cats, and one run-in with a hedgehog where I have absolutely no idea what the outcome was. I hope I missed the poor little beggar. I ran a stoat over a couple of years ago down a 50mph zone, and it scared the bejesus out of me because it was pitch dark, the stoat shot out of nowhere, and I there was no way I could stop or swerve. Made a hell of a noise for such a small creature!

I ran a fox over once.

It ran out into the road, stood on the white lines for a bit, then ran back into the middle of the lane I was driving in. Clonk. It's its own fault, and I have no sympathy.

Similarly, I have even less sympathy for the two squirrels I (think I) ran over which were copulating in the middle of the road. Darwinism, right there.

I hit a bird who shot out in front of me on a driving lesson. Me and the instructor were both mortified.

But less mortified than the bird. Laughing We once hit a barn owl driving home from holiday when we were kids. It made a huge mess of the car's bonnet.

We get a lot of foxes where I live, and driving home late one night I had to actually stop to shoo one out of the way because it was simply sitting in the middle of the road like it owned the place. No wonder they only have an average eighteen month lifespan!

Do you lot all have really quiet horns or something?  (Bear in mind that I don't drive.)

Both of mine were in the day. Also, it's the road where there's loads of cars what made them think it was going to be safe?

You all have no idea what it is like to have wildlife on the road until you live in Australia. Apart from kangaroos that are 2 metres tall to contend with, there is nothing scarier than heading straight for a cow at 100km/h as in many parts, cows are not fenced in. Fortunately I have never hit one, but I have gone close.

One of the worst animals to hit is a wombat. You guys have no idea just how solid a wombat is. Hit one and you will do thousands of dollars of damage to your car. You will likely lose part of the front end and very likely rip out some of your under carriage.

All of our animals are nocturnal, so I never exceed 80km/h at night, to give myself some reaction time. I would be mortified if I killed a Tasmanian Devil or Marsupial Cat.

And of course there is the odd echidna that pops up out of no where.

But I'm kinda lucky down my end of the state where the cows are behind fences and on a trip from Hobart to Orford of a night time I don't really see any animals along the way.

Never used the horn and, to be fair, if the sound of a car barrelling towards them isn't enough to stop them...

My nan has a terrible phobia of birds (she was locked in a chicken cage by her brothers when she was little) so I always shoo them away from her. But pigeons must have gotten lazier or braver because I ran into a group of them hoping they'd fly off and I ended up actually punting one of them.

I had a laugh with a fox once. Got called to some kids who "heard a blood curdling scream" coming from the woods (this was two 18-year-old lads who made no effort to help said damsel in distress besides calling us) and it turned out to be a fox's mating cry. We didn't have the heart to tell them.

If there's no time to break, there's no time to honk, bro!
I don't think I've ever used the horn once...

They are extremely sweet. Very docile creatures. Try to pick one up (being aware of the quills), they will suck themselves to the ground in a flash and are near impossible to move. We get regular echidnas visiting our house.

The forum has more than 20,000 posts! Give yourselves pats on the back, you sad antisocial bunch.

On an unrelated topic, [boast]I finished composing a piece today! Commissioned, no less (well, "asked for": no money changed hands). It's for euphonium, violin and piano: apparently there aren't so many pieces for euphonium and violin around. And the violinist had it bound all professional-like. I'm chuffed that I've actually managed to create something... creative![/boast]

That's awesome! Must give it a bit of a legitimate feel being bound?

It does rather! Grin The idea is to play it in a charity concert at some point, but for now I'm happy to just look at the bound copy and feel smug.

Hopefully I'll be the pianist as well, which means I just play lots of plinky-plonky chords throughout the whole piece. I'll put the rubbish composing-programme-recording up on my Tindeck at some point, so the whole Internet can listen to Sibelius being unable to do any justice to anything.
