| Being now, sort of, an owner of all three platforms (I have a Wii u, an XBone and a PS3) there are quite a few multiplatform games coming out which I'd like to have a bit of a chat about. I've looked and there doesn't seem to be much discussion in the Xbox or PlayStation fori so, rather than fill up General Gaming Discussions with multiple brief threads, and short of combining the two other format forae or creating a new forum for multiplatform games, we could have a thread like this?
Which is all a long-winded way of saying; does anyone else like the look of Shadow of Mordor and The Evil Within?
I want really aware of either until EGX and now they're both right on my doorstep. Mordor seems like a pretty average game with a very, very pretty Middle Earth which I'm very keen to spend some time in.
Evil, on the other hand, sounds proper good. I'm hearing a lot of comparisons to Resident Evil 4 which is one of my all time favourite games and really hasn't been matched since it came out. Last of Us was promising but never had a lot of variety, it was more of an emotional experience than a straight up great videogame.
Has anyone got their hands on these? Anyone else excited?
I'm aware we have Mas' release schedule threads but they don't seem conducive to in depth discussion on specific games. |

| Will be picking up Shadows tomorrow, looks proper good and I was cautiously excited for quite a while! I'm pretty much totally uninterested in Evil Within though, I've not heard very good things about it and I'm not big on horror anyway. If it is Resi 4 esque I'll have a rethink but that's unlikely to be near launch anyway. |

| Shadow of Mordor has been getting really good reviews and getting compared to batman arkham which is always good but is coming out in a busy time and is a licensed game, so myself can see it dropping in price quite quick and that's when I'll get it.
Evil Within I didn't like from what I played at EGX and it doesn't help Alien will be here soon which cover me for the whole survival horror game and then next year sometime Until Dawn (PS4) will be here and that looked good from I saw at EGX, it's moved right up my anticipated games. Great year coming for the PS4 it seems. |

| Ooh, Batman? It had my curiosity, now it has my attention! I'd heard comparisons to Assassin's Creed, which I'm not all that fused about, but I loved the Arkham games.
With TEW, I'm going off what Andi Hamilton was saying at the weekend. He described it as very resi; the same shooting, hunting around for ammo, the same puzzle design. The thing with Resi 4 was that there was a sense of humour and a sense of adventure as well as the horror. I don't know whether Evil Within will have that, yet. Alien does look good, but other than the "horror" label they seem like really different games. |

| From what I've seen from Alien it looks very survival horror, from what I played from Evil Within and what I saw of the two guys I went with it didn't all. Ibbster was like John Rambo on it. |

| I'm looking forwards to how Alien turns out, I've not seen the films so it's not massively on my radar, but if it does work out well I can finally stop getting told off for not seeing the films... |

| I'm not entirely sure whether playing the game excuses you from not watching the films. It does look amazingly lifelike, though. Thems some graphics though! |

| If the game is worth playing it'll bump the films up in priority because I won't play the game without seeing the film. A similar thing happened with Back to the Future and South Park. |

| Drunka some of these might be some good games you bring up coming out but haven't you still got some good titles to play from the 7th gen. |

| Alien Isolation looks great. This video convinced me it's going to be a good one.
I think without the vendetta system Shadow of Mordor would look utterly average, but the whole "enemies remember you" gimmick seems cool. I think what sold me on it was hearing that if a random orc kills you, he becomes a boss later on. |

| Alien has been getting bad reviews, mine will be here tomorrow and will play but if it's as bad as some are saying it might be getting traded in for SoM which has been well received or even nothing as I do have lot's to play. |

Yeah. As I'm picking up newer games, I'm not paying them straight away I'm working into my playlist. Alien seems to be getting a similar response to Zombi U, wherein the US press don't really get it but it has received a better reception over here. |

| I thought it looked ace - a proper representation of what a game based off the first Alien should play like. Anything's better than Colonial Marines, at least. |

"Some bad reviews" would have been more appropriate & as buska said it seems to be a bit of a zombi U situation and a bit of two gaming cultures clashing, I think fans of the films will enjoy it but things like the save system will put some off. I'd hope you will give it a fair chance as it kind of sounds like you've already made your mind up about trading it in. |

| Well I've a few options with Alien
Play it don't like it and trade it in right away for £37 and lose £10 right away
Play it like it finish it then trade in and I've got my £XX (gather it will trade in for less by the time I'm done) amount of value out of it
Go to GAME get refunded the £48 but means not playing Alien though, with the £48 I could get Shadow of Mordor for example, keep the money for something else at some-point or could get Fantasy Life & some eShop credit for that Hyrule Warriors DLC. |

I was being satirical. I know that's true by dictionary definition but a lot of publishers these days are pumping out so-called betas when the disks are probably being printed already. |

| Maybe but in cases like The Crew just after the BETA the game has been delayed only be about a month but you would think there something from the BETA that caused it unless I'm putting 2+2 together and making 5.
I'm just about to start Shadow of Mordor. |

| Ive spent almost two whole days playing Shadow of Mordor. It's really good. Fundamentally it's the same gameplay as the Arkham games or Assassins Creed but refined really well and in a world I'm way more inclined to explore. It also looks incredible. |
