| Agreed: that's a classic. A kitsch classic, but a classic nonetheless. - gjones wrote:

Mario Golf with RPG bits (seeing as Nintendo/Camelot only put the RPG features in to the handheld iterations). This however is a brilliant shout. |

| Doing my answers before I read anyone else's, so I can't be tainted. - Spoiler:
Which console game or series are you chomping at the bit to take on the go with the Switch?
I'd love Pokken or Splatoon. Pick-up-and-play multiplayer stuff is well suited to being easily picked up and played!
Nintendo Switch!
I know, right? It looks amazing!
Which handheld game or series do you reckon is really going to benefit from the big screen experience with the Switch?
Obviously Monster Hunter. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate was great; do little gathering quests and so on while you're at work or on the bus, then switch to the big HD screen to hunt a fearsome monstrosity. With the faff of 3DS to Wii U transfer removed, it will be incredible.
Paper Mario: Colour Splash painted a very mixed view of itself depending on who you asked. Which red-headed stepchild of a series (eg. Super Mario Bros. 2) do you actually think is ruddy fantastic?
I really enjoyed all the Halo games, even though the internet likes to assert Halo 4 and Halo 5 were godawful. They don't quite have the spark of the Bungie games, but I enjoyed my time with them and the humans actually look like humans.
Nintendo Switch!
Don't remind me, March is too long. TOO LONG.
Which highly acclaimed game in a series do you reckon is actually a bit guff?
"Guff" is a strong word, but I'm on record for saying Ocarina of Time hasn't aged especially well and doesn't hold up to newer Zeldas.
Rhythm Paradise Megamix was released last month. What's your favourite piece of video game music?
Do you know what, it might be Magikarp Festival. I can't hear it without getting excited.
Nintendo Switch!
YAAASSSSSSSSSS.
Which piece of gaming music is your most hated of all time? OF ALL TIME?
Frenchy Bird can do one. I wish this pigeon had been alive in WWI so it could be shot out of the sky.

| Which console game or series are you chomping at the bit to take on the go with the Switch? A hard one as I do think some games won't translate well to a handheld well but I'm thinking of what comes out in 2017 around March, that my answer is Mass Effect Andromeda as I could do a short side-quest on the go.
Which handheld game or series do you reckon is really going to benefit from the big screen experience with the Switch? Pokemon
Paper Mario: Colour Splash painted a very mixed view of itself depending on who you asked. Which red-headed stepchild of a series (eg. Super Mario Bros. 2) do you actually think is ruddy fantastic? Hey! On a answer, I'm going for DmC from Ninja Theory
Which highly acclaimed game in a series do you reckon is actually a bit guff? I don't know if gJones with MGS meant just the first game or the whole series as I can think of some actual series but one game in a series, hmm Resident Evil 5 but not sure how acclaimed it was
Rhythm Paradise Megamix was released last month. What's your favourite piece of video game music? Dam you Jay with my answer that I give ya this from Bioshock Infinite

| I'm hesitant about the prospect of new Pokémon games on the Switch. TPC have said they're going to keep the series on handhelds and the NS (so hard to type that without the 'E') isn't quite a handheld. Don't get me wrong: I'd totally love to see it happen... it's just that I'm not holding my breath. |

| It will replace the 3DS as Nintendo's handheld, despite the statements they're making just now to safeguard Christmas sales, and TPC have out-and-out said they're developing for Swith. |

| Drunka is right as you can read here also the adds for the 3DS family seems to be aimed more at kids and the Switch seems from what we've seen more at us lot.
That both will coincide for a good while, it's when a Pokemon game comes to Switch and the kids start getting them is when the 3DS will finally come to an end. |

| I don't think the gameplay differences are that huge, and I think the mechanics of combat are only part of a Dark Souls game: exploration, story, characters, NPCs . . . all of these things are worse in 3. |

I'd disagree that the differences weren't huge. From a combat standpoint, it felt even slower than DS1 at points and I don't know if I could return to DS2 after playing through DS3. From a design standpoint, some areas felt very lazily designed and seemed to exist purely to overwhelm you with enemies - looking at you, Shrine of Amana - and I really disagree with the design choice to have invasions always on. It detracts from the whole risk/reward system of going human in the first place and plays into the shitty "hurr durr you're gonna die in Souls too hard for you noob lul" mentality I think Souls needs to move away from. I love that DS2 tried new things, don't get me wrong. The overall world design is interesting, being spokes of a wheel rather than a sprawling web of connections and I do feel that's lost in the pretty linear DS3. There's little to no fanservice, which is something DS3 admittedly has a problem with. The issue is though that if the game itself isn't as fun to play, it's a lot more difficult to invest in its world and characters. I'd still rank it below DS1 and DS3, personally. |

I know what you mean and I did feel like that at certain stages of my initial playthrough but once I played more and dug a little deeper amongst all the fan service it does some cool stuff to give it its own identity. So I'm definitely with Jay & Andy on preferring DS3 over 2. I do agree with you on Miyazaki & Co doing something new for their next game though. |

Pokémon Black Friday happened last month. Did you bag any bargains?
A couple of games on PSN - namely The Witness, as I've been waiting for that to drop a bit in cash. But nothing else really!
The film Fantastic Beartics And Where To Find Them was released last month. What's the biggest animal you've ever come across in a non-zoo context?
My local park had peacocks living in it a while ago (they were bred there for a while) and they used to wander up away from the park. When I was a wee sprog, I came across one ambling about my street as I came back from my paper round one morning.
Tennisman Sandile Murray became ATP world number one last month. When did you last play tennis - real tennis, with a racquet, and that?
It's been a while - ten years at least. I had a stonker of a serve driven right into my gut if I remember rightly, so I think I know why I've not played it since!
Let's address the big orange toxic elephant in the room - Donald Grumpig is going to be the next President of the United States. How is he inevitably going to cock it up?
By attracting the ire of Hulk Hogan, and the Hulkster's going to take down one of Trump's biggest policies.
Watchogs 2 showed us the power of the sequel by improving greatly over its somewhat average predecessor. What games come to mind when thinking about great sequels?
Assassin's Creed II was an unbelievable improvement over ACI, simply through adding a likeable character and some variety to its gameplay. Oddly enough, that's by Ubisoft too.
The GeNESect Mini Classic launched last month and has taken the world by storm, which surely means we'll have more Mini consoles on their way. What Mini Classic do you want to see next and what games should feature on it?
Phillips 3DO Mini Classic. I want to bomb some dodongos.
- Simon "ZeroJones" Ball:
Pokémon Black Friday happened last month. Did you bag any bargains? Not because of Black Friday, I don't think, but I did jump on Oddworld at half price. I've yet to play it, though, what with Pokémon fever and the giant spectre of Wario's Woods. The film Fantastic Beartics And Where To Find Them was released last month. What's the biggest animal you've ever come across outwith the confines of a zoo?Saw a badger once when I was walking home from a friend's house late one night. It legged it fairly quickly. Tennisman Sandile Murray became ATP world number one last month. When did you last play tennis - real tennis, with a racquet, and that?Oooft! I'm more of a badminton guy, to be honest, which I played in the summer at the in-laws. As for "real tennis, with a racquet, and that" (who writes these questions?!), it might well be at school. Let's address the big orange toxic elephant in the room - Donald Grumpig is going to be the next President of the United States. How is he inevitably going to cock it up?If it's not an overreaction at a perceived slight, it'll be a conflict of interest with his 'massive' 'business' 'empire'. When Every Word In A Sentence Needs Air Quotes, with your host, ZeroJones. Watchogs 2 showed us the power of the sequel by improving greatly over its somewhat average predecessor. What games come to mind when thinking about great sequels?Street Fighter II instantly pops to brain, as Fighting Street is really rather poor. Other examples exist. The GeNESect Mini Classic launched last month and has taken the world by storm, which surely means we'll have more Mini consoles on their way. What Mini Classic do you want to see next and what games should feature on it?I wouldn't mind a Mega Drive Mini. It'd be more expensive than an NES Mini, natch, but you could load it up with The Sonics, Streets Of Rage 2, Ristar, Dynamite Headdy, Ecco The Dolphin and my favourite MD game of them all - Et Cetera.

| I see what you guys have done there... but there are no questions actually about Pokémon the game! Pokémon Black Friday happened last month. Did you bag any bargains? No. I'm not a real bargain hunter, and I don't like Black Friday anyway. People talk about the over-commercialisation of Christmas: can we concentrate on how easily this horrorshow's been accepted by Britain instead? The film Fantastic Beartics And Where To Find Them was released last month. What's the biggest animal you've ever come across in a non-zoo context? On safari, elephants. Job done. Tennisman Sandile Murray became ATP world number one last month. When did you last play tennis - real tennis, with a racquet, and that?Real tennis is something quite quite different to what you're thinking of... Let's address the big orange toxic elephant in the room - Donald Grumpig is going to be the next President of the United States. How is he inevitably going to cock it up?Well he's just insulted China this very morning. I don't actually thinking WW3 will happen, but if one man could bring it about... Pokémon Platinum ( ) showed us the power of the sequel by improving greatly over its somewhat average predecessor. What games come to mind when thinking about great sequels?Well there's the one I've substituted in for your Nontendo question. And seriously, if you were going to take one from this very month, from what I've heard Titanfall 2 is the one to go for. But on platforms of importance, Thousand-Year Door improved on a good game and made it one of the best ever. The GeNESect Mini Classic launched last month and has taken the world by storm, which surely means we'll have more Mini consoles on their way. What Mini Classic do you want to see next and what games should feature on it?I don't! I think this whole thing is a terrible idea, because it makes Nintendo less likely to release such games on their woefully underpopulated Virtual Consoles, appeals to collectors at the expense of everyone else, and has been incredibly poorly managed so that we have a scalper problem again. I want Nintendo to take their stupidly short controller cables, flog themselves fifty times, and never release anything of the sort again. Won't happen though, they've made bank (I presume). So - SNES Classic I guess, that's what everyone else wants and I won't be buying any of the range, but can we dispense with the stupid moronic idiotic false scarcity bull thank you. |

The film Fantastic Beartics And Where To Find Them was released last month. What's the biggest animal you've ever come across in a non-zoo context? I can ride a horse, so you can guess which animal then
Tennisman Sandile Murray became ATP world number one last month. When did you last play tennis - real tennis, with a racquet, and that? At school which was 10 odd years ago
Let's address the big orange toxic elephant in the room - Donald Grumpig is going to be the next President of the United States. How is he inevitably going to cock it up? He seems to be back-pedalling a bit as its now a fence not a wall, but if he pisses off China then who knows.
Watchogs 2 showed us the power of the sequel by improving greatly over its somewhat average predecessor. What games come to mind when thinking about great sequels? All the SEGA Mega Drive games with a 2 on the end.
The GeNESect Mini Classic launched last month and has taken the world by storm, which surely means we'll have more Mini consoles on their way. What Mini Classic do you want to see next and what games should feature on it? Mini PS1
@Zero you know their are like 500 Mini Mega Drives on the market and well cheap
@Balla their is a reason why the cables are so short, its something to do with the signal to a wiimote. |
