Nope. I've only been tempted to buy one by Breath of the Wild, but as soon as that was announced for Switch, any prospect of me buying a Wii U went right out the window.

I bloody loved my Wii U. Great gaming memories, alone and in multiplayer. Plus, the Gamepad and TV combo is my favourite format for enjoying Youtube and that with friends.

Hmm... It might have been some currency in Marvel Puzzle Quest. I got hooked on that a while back.

Labour won one and lost one in by-elections last month. Tell us about your proudest gaming victory and your most crushing gaming defeat.

There's probably been better moments, but recency bias is taking hold of me - beating "Out of the Fry Pan" in Monster Hunter Generations. I'd tried that quest in lower-ranked gear and did not have much luck, but even going back to it in higher ranked kit was a challenge. It was a 35 minute war, but I came out on top.

As for losses... off the top of my head, I remember a game of Smash Bros. 3DS that started off so well that I taunted at my online foe. I then proceeded to get so utterly annihilated over the next two stocks that I stopped playing the game for a while.

Hm... I suppose Horizon Zero Dawn comes to mind quickly - that game would have definitely saw a look from me had it not come so close to Switchmas.

Not Super Mario 64, that's for sure!

Almost certainly points to get access to more Pokémon Picross puzzles.

My favourite gaming victory was beating The 4 Heroes Of Light on DS back in the day. I was one hit away from being wiped out but with Dave's last breath (Dave was the name I gave the game's Ringabel-a-like) he bravely belted the final boss in its spicy fizzog, at which point it fizzled into dust. Whoop! My worst gaming defeat was probably pretty much any time I've ever played Mario Kart 8 online, all joint worst together.

Mario Vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem! is one I'd been umming and aahing about for ages, and then the 3DS came along and changed everything.

Not sure I have, actually. Maybe a bundle in Mass Effect 3, but I don't think I ever took the plunge.

I remember a time playing Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate with Jay and Andy. It was a high-rank quest, but me and Jay were both rocking low rank gear. Andy on the other hand was in top tier G Rank kit. Me and Jay delivered all the stones required to complete the quest, and we killed the Deviljho who had attacked us. Andy on the other hand got knocked out by some drone dinosaurs.

Defeats wise, probably the 23 Monster Hunts before anyone told me how to boost my defence without armour, which combined with my general recklessness saw me fainting every time.

I remember getting some birthday money when I was 13 and being dead keen to buy Digimon Rumble Arena on PS1. Mum wouldn't let me go to the shop, but that turned out to be because that evening I had a Gamecube to unwrap. As it was, that was when my dangerously fierce love affair with Nintendo began, and also marked the last time anyone else bought me a console in part or in whole until the Switch. Considering how much my parents lament the time I spend playing videogames, they've been pretty supportive.

Me and Muss have a friend called Bill. Bill is the very definition of human failure. A farting, belching, casually offensive idiot who constantly drinks yet, after nigh-on a decade of the sauce, has no concept of his own limits. He'll drink until he's sick, then keep drinking.
The thing is, he's quite a nice bloke, and not thick. He just has the lowest possible self esteem, and he overcompensates massively. His idea of success is measured in the ammount of porn, football, music trivia and alcohol he can consume and yet he is constantly mugged off in all these endeavours.

The kitchen - I don't do arts or crafts, but I do like chopping up meat.

Snake Pass was released on the Nintendo Switch last month. Why did it have to be snakes?

Because the mechanics of the game lend themselves to animals that move via crawling and slinking around on their stomachs. Nobody wants to play as a worm - Earthworm Jim aside - therefore the snake was the only remaining option.

Super Bomberman R was released on the Nintendo Switch last month. What's the most disappointing launch game you've ever played?

Super Bomberman R.

I've not bought many consoles at launch - the Wii and the Switch are my only two, actually. I enjoyed all of the launch titles I played on the Wii, but Bomberman sucked the big one.

I am Setsuna is set entirely on a series of snow-covered islands. What's your favourite snow/winter level or world in a game?

Phendrana Drifts from Metroid Prime was a decent one. Good music and I remember the level itself being pretty solid to boot.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild successfully managed to take Zelda into an open-world. What game series should try out the open world format?

Monster Hunter. We chatted about this on your favourite weekly episodic Monster Hunter podcast, but I really think it would work. Removing the loading between each zone or area would be a game-changer unto itself.

This is hard. It might be Nintendo Land? As a primarily single player kind of guy, it really didn't have the appeal. Another contender might be Pilotwings Resort.

I always cite the snowy section of Secret Of Mana, which features you beating a Frost Gigas boss that turns out to be Santa Claus.
