| Difficulty spike much!? Having grown slightly worried about my reliance on my Skells (and you're right, Athrun, despite it saying that my insurance was used it didn't actually use up any insurance points), this was proved well-founded when in chapter 9 I found first a side-mission, then a story boss battle, in which Skells were banned. My underlevelled team were thrashed comprehensively in both cases.
Time to break out the Grindmobile. That, and finally learning about augments. Sigh.
Also, WNK is still awful. |

| Funnily enough a lot of people had trouble with chapter 10 more than 9, although if you neglect your Skell gear 10 can get very rough. 9 kicked my backside a lot as well, or rather - Spoiler:
the first phase of the battle did. Why are the Wrothians consistently the toughest foes in the game?
I'd say focus on augments, from this point on you'll be taking on enemies where levels have increasingly diminished returns. There are a lot of enemies that at level 40 can destroy level 60 player avatars. It's all about your gear and augments from this point forward, although I wouldn't worry about using the overly complex ones, just pack enemy type augments and maybe an Overdrive+ augment if you can afford it. Don't forget to also use L's shop to add Augment slots to your gear too if you aren't already. Speaking of overdrive couple of things to remember - size reduction:
is orange and red arts build up the count, blue arts extend its duration by 10 percent of the current count, and using two green arts in a row makes whatever red or orange art you use next do double the count it would normally do. Also art cooldowns get faster the higher the count is. Finally, if you've got another 3000 TP before it ends you can trigger Overdrive again (basically refresh it) and retain your count. Using Augments that make Arts add tp and extend its duration is basically how players are able to have infinite Overdrive.
The game does a horrible job teaching the player how to use overdrive, but it is soooo much fun once you do. Just don't do what I did and buy a level 50 Skell any point between chapters 10 and 12, completely cheapens the game. I actually ditched my level 50 Skell before the final boss because of how trivializing it was. |

| Just finished Chapter 4. Two thoughts on the boss fight:
That was the first unavoidable fight that was a genuine challenge, and is making want to properly learn some of the mechanics and things the game has utterly not taught me. Why would you introduce an alien villain I'm meant to want to kill by giving me an extended close-up of her be-thonged arse? |

| I'm amazed that I seem to have glossed over Goetia, given how anal I usually am about this sort of thing. XC had a similarly fanservice-y villain, if I recall correctly - Lorithia (although more for cleavage reasons). Am I inured to JRPGs? Was it just her squidness? Anyway, I maintain there's worse (and more inyerface fetishistic) yet to come. And bosses that require you to look at things the game hasn't taught you yet are fairly commonplace. See my post above. Speaking of things I haven't been taught, cheers for that Overdrive summary, Athrun: maybe that's something I can use. |

| I guess the game had just generally been pretty good for women up to that point, but with her the camera zoomed right in on her nearly-naked ladyparts. Odd. This afternoon I mostly just pottered around with side-quests and affinity missions. Reached Oblivia. Man, this game is really, really, really pretty. |

| Reminds me of that blood moon picture Jas raved about from some From game or other. Which reminds me - Jas started the thread, sounded really keen for the game, but hasn't posted here since its release. Interest waned, or? EDIT: The ZP is unsurprisingly good stuff. He actually kinda likes a JRPG, I think? Or perhaps it's Stockholm syndrome. |

| Fair enough, hope you can afford it soon. Definitely a must-play at some point. If I remember correctly, the original XC didn't drop in price much after being released. |

| Well that was piss-easy. After struggling through fight one of episode 9 (so many augmentations, all of which I'll forget about now for a bit), I steamrollered fight two. Three level 30 Skells and a level 20 - lost the level 20, that was all. I hear that there's another bastard difficulty hike next chapter, though. EDIT: HOLYSHITICANFLYANDIT'SAMAZINGWHEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! |

| Interesting fact for today, a game that came out called Xenogears the first in the Xeno series which you could use mechs in is 18 today. |

| You would guess correct! I'm parked outside the barracks, weighing up whether to do Chapter 7 or a few more side missions. |

| I'm a big fan of taking on as many side missions as possible. That's just me though. But I'm leaving most of the affinities now to avoid squad-rotation. - After Chapter 9...:
NLA really does seem to have filled up with indigens of all varieties. Insectoids, walking biosuits, Prone... Speaking of which, I find the Prone females terrifying. Especially their voices.

| I'm a bona fide certified card-carrying XCX addict. I'm away from home during the week, so I played myself the XCX soundtrack almost non-stop to keep myself sane. Then I got back home, and did basically nothing else but play it today. I'm in end-game territory now - think I'm leading up to the penultimate chapter. Just unlocked - Playable character's name:
Celica
and fancied adding them to my squad - but they're level 32. The recruitment mission's minimum level was 44. What? And that countdown be awfully low now... (So I've course I've been going and doing all the side-missions. ) EDIT: - Chapter 11 Story:
Lao you magnificent bastard.

| I've not had much time for this lately. It isn't the kind of game you can just pop on for an hour or two, is it? I'm sure I'll have some long evenings to explore Mira soon. |

| I'd disagree! Since you can save anywhere, it's perfect for dipping in and out. The only problem is when I sit down to play it for half an hour, and three hours later... |
