Jay: A Ireland, B Canada, C Tonga, D Fiji

Jim: A Russia, B New Zealand, C Argentina, D Australia

Cappa: A Japan, B South Africa, C USA, D Uruguay

Mas: A Scotland, B Namibia, C England, D Georgia

Jay actually has the number 1 team in world with Ireland but I do think New Zealand have to be favourites and don't think you can write off Australia for Jim.

Argentina aren't that bad either, sure they're not going to win it but if they make last 8 and get paired with another one of Jim's teams.

I experienced one of Mas' teams thrashing one of Jay's today - by which I mean, I passed a pub and the patrons seemed to be altogether too excited given that England were leading 28-3 at the time.

It's not been a terrific start for my times, but Ireland are looking good so far, albeit at the detriment of Scotland.

Japan just beat Ireland and from behind.

Think I'm scunnered with that! Happy for Japan though - a strong showing in the cup will be great for the health of the sport in the country.

They've played the two weakest teams in their group in Namibia and Canada, haven't they? It'll be South Africa and New Zealand where they'll be tested.

I'm gloriously conflicted as I obviously want Ireland to advance for the sake of the sweepstakes, but I also want Scotland and Japan to do really well. Damn it.

There's always a caveat... And ah yes, I see that NZ are doing NZ things.

Think I'll have Ireland advancing out of my teams barring any catastrophes. And then there's that Scotland/Japan game which is essentially going to be a qualifier for getting out the group. Ooft.

I'd be sad if Scotland didn't even get the chance to try and progress, but looking at the bigger picture there's people's homes at stake with a typhoon, so getting disappointed about a rugby game would be pretty silly.

Aren't the Scottish team taking the opposite viewpoint and threatening legal action or something?
