I thought the demo was fun, although was vaguely disappointed that you have to release all the Pokemon you catch in the catching challenge (I caught a Pikachu!). Also not sure I like that there's a little note under each move telling you whether a move is super or not-very effective against your opponent. It makes me think it'll cause battles to be more mindless.
I like Jangmo-o and Hakomo-o, though. And have you seen the new Alolan form revealed in the demo? Hilarious. But stylish.
Actually I recall that not showing up on all of my opponents, Pikachu when I found one for example I recall not having the little effective words under the move. I think it's just for Pokemon you've seen before, fitting in with how the dex registers all new Pokemon and fills in their basic info. Don't quote me on it though, my memory could be failing me!
On that note I want to say I love the new in-battle UI!
Also anyone else forgo riding the Tauros just so they could hear the town music?
That is true, I still hope it can be turned off though, even if it's not a new Pokemon I'm still likely to forget what type it is and I'm ok with, I want my mistakes to be punishable. It does set a worrying trend given how ridiculously easy Gen 6 was but hopefully I'll be proven wrong.
I also hope these Pokemon you can ride are limited to your own catches, they're probably not but it feels a bit cheap using random Pokemon to call upon.

I think it will be a set group of rideable Pokémon. I wonder if they'll have different abilities to allow for exploring new areas, like Tauros's charge breaking boulders.

As long as things move a little faster than that ruddy Rhyhorn in X or Y, I'll be delighted. The Tauros action in the demo leads me to believe things are going in the right direction.

With less than a month to go, someone needs to ask the real question: what nicknaming conventions are you going with this time? With X I went for forumite names, can't remember about Alpha Sapphire - previously I've done fictional villains, deities, and e.g. Bob. Not sure about this time around.

I don't theme on my first playthrough. I'm too attached to the Pokémon, so I name them from the heart.

I'm tempted to let others name them, just put them up on Twitter and first reply gets the name, lazy and risky I know but it's so hard to keep track of the names sometimes.

On nicknames, won't be much help as one thing I've always been terrible at is naming things. To give you an idea back when I was a kid I had the genius idea of naming three budgies as "Bowie 1, 2, and 3". Such was the absolute brilliance of my naming capabilities! Nowadays I just throw random sounds together in a random mishmash.
Considering nuzlocking the game for my first run. I'm sure this is going to not happen because the moment I see an Alolan *REDACTED* after my first encounter I'll likely go full "screw the rules I have REDACTED!" but I'm seriously considering a nuzlocke. Perhaps a softlocke involving a choice of each area rather than a forced encounter? Really I just want the gameplay to have some stakes involved. Some sort of limitation and the good ol' fainting is death ought to suffice.

Dunno what the problem is, that's naming genius. If I get a Braviary Imma call it "Bravid Bowie".

I know the demo got datamined and so we've had the final evolutions of the starters available to us if desired, but Nintendo's just officially uploaded a video with their names and type combinations if that tickles y'alls pickles. Also has info on the guardian deity pookermon and some more familiar faces...

It bloody doesn't. Another thing we should be finding out for ourselves (officially) flushed down the toiler.

That the PC might not reveal what must be upwards of 50 Pokémon and Alola forms pre-release?
Yes. Foolishly I did. I have learned my lesson and will know better next time.
(The hack is less surprising. I have no respect for the people who performed it, but nor am I surprised that some attention-starved kid wanted to do so.)
AND NOW THAT FLAMING TRAILER IS ON THE FRONT PAGE OF MY YOUTUBE BECAUSE THE BLOODY ALGORITHMS "THINK" I MIGHT "LIKE" TO WATCH IT
Fortunately I whisked my eyes away quickly. Still,
I SHOULD CLARIFY (in what is becoming a rather long post) that I ain't blaming you for this Rum. The information's out there now already, none of us are confined to this site, we've all been exposed to it, and you put it in a spoiler and all. I'm blaming the PC mostly.

Oh no, I didn't think it was anything to do with me! I just thought they did the same thing with X&Y, though I might be misremembering.

YAY ALL THE BEST SURPRISES HAVE BEEN SPOILED SO COOL FUN DESU AND I TOTALLY DO NOT HATE EVERY WEBSITE INCLUDING NON-GAMING ONES LIKE ANIMENEWSNETWORK FOR LEADING WITH HEADLINES OF THOSE SPOILERS, NO I DO NOT. DESU.
In case you couldn't tell that:
was all sarcasm. In case it wasn't obvious both from its own inference and my frequent use of sarcasm.

I got a major spoiler from twitter, from an account I follow for Monster Hunter content. I love the thing they showed, but I'd have loved experiencing it in the game properly more . . .

Are they the kind of Twitter that'd listen to you making a noise about it Drunka? I don't follow many megastars, although NL still ignored me.

Another piece of evidence on the mountainous pile of data that suggests that the Web is for spoilerphiles.
Having said that, people seem to listen to GoT/TWD fans who say "Don't spoil me on pain of pain!". Maybe spoilerphobes should adopt that policy. On the other other hand, the makers of those TV shows are not actively spoiling their own content, months before its release.

Nintendo seem to be just pumping it out, so I can't too annoyed at people sharing it. We're not talking hacks and leaks here, I've avoided all that. I don't know why they feel the need to do this - the Pokémon name alone will sell gangbusters after all the Go hype. The 90s nostalgia boom is in full swing!

Pokemon S&M at the moment are the most preordered Nintendo game ever which could be due to PGO and 90's nostalgia but some at Nintendo martking team is bound to think hey the hype around this is because we put out all these ads for the game.
You never know they may try putting out marketing for more things now

Although I'm pretty sure the marketing is being done by TPC, Nintendo have got to sit up and take notice.
In other news, like Athrun, I'm considering a Nuzlocke run first off. Jo is going to be playing the game at the same time as me and I don't want to get too far ahead of her. Whatever happens I'll be playing without looking anything up, which I'd normally do to check what Pokémon are available on the nearby routes. All surprise, all the time (well, as much as I can make it so, at least).
