I've seen both No Way Home and Matrix Resurrections over the last couple of weeks.
Spidey was pure fanservice in the best way and exactly the sort of film I needed to see to cap off what ultimately was a bit of a stinker of a year.
Matrix was great. I've seen a lot of shite opinions thrown out about it and it feels like the folks throwing said shite opinions against the walls have somewhat missed the point. I think going into Matrix IV expecting a bombastic action film akin to the original trilogy is going in to face disappointment. It's a much more involved movie, with the trans theming of the original being made much more overt (and seemingly necessarily so considering numpties like Musk and Ivanka Trump talking about taking the red pill) and also a commentary on reboots and franchise movies as a whole. It's the most personal AAA blockbuster movie I've ever seen.

A few films since The Matrix IV
Black Widow, which I don't think I mentioned in here, it's fine the issue is as we know where it is set in the MCU that nothing major will happen.
Shang-Chi, nice Martial Arts MCU film.
Rushmore, I'm planning to watch all the Wes Anderson movies which I started with Rushmore as I thought it was his first film, and today I watched The French Dispatch of the Liberty, Kansas Evening Sun that are very much me films. Once I've watched all the films from Wes maybe a little ranking of them all.

I watched the Netflix sequel to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, called Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
It's a mess but I found it funny and reasonably tense.

I was going to watch that last night until I saw someone mention on twitter how the main characters are "influencers" and that just gave me the boak. I watched Kimi on Sky cinema instead and quite enjoyed it.

I wouldn't mind watching a film about influencers if they all get dismembered with a chainsaw at the end.

So today I saw the latest Friday the 13th film and it was shit.
The influencer part of the texas chainsaw massacre is just kind of there. It sets up a lot of dislikable and oblivious characters and a few go through some arcs over the films length. It's a lot less important to events than the blurb makes it out to be. Its literally just a flimsy excuse to have a bunch of young people in a texas ghost town.

Ahh fair enough & I will watch it eventually.

I watched Everything Everywhere All at Once the other night, it's tremendous fun and reckon Buska would get a great podcast out of it.

Yeah I'm really keen to watch that one but it seems to have had an extremely limited release here in Japan.

Oh right, yes, I saw a film for once! And it was that one too! I think it's the second film I've seen since 2022, and it was a fair step up from the first (the new Ghostbusters flick, a wallow in nostalgia for a film I have no nostalgia for).
Like Mas, I absolutely loved it. It doesn't mean much for me, since I don't watch many; but I reckon it makes my top ten films of all time. Great action, great comedy (the bit with the rocks), some charming moments - simply great.

I watched Blade Runner in the local theatre this morning. I'd seen it before, 'natch, but I reckon it must have been a good 15 years or so.
Man, what a picture! Provocative, interesting, tense and visually phenomenal!

Saw that Super Mario Movie and it was great. I really want to play a new Mario game now or a Peach game if possible, or like some the 2D ones can pick a character from the start but in a 3D World if possible.

I went to see it at the weekend and thought it was good fun. I’d been told beforehand to not expect something with the emotional impact or depth of the likes of Inside Out or Turning Red, but to instead switch my brain off and enjoy it in the same way I would something like Despicable Me or Trolls. I thought that was great advice – that ninety minute run-time flew past.
I’m sure I'll see it again when it comes to streaming services, there’ll no doubt be loads of little Easter Eggs and nods to Nintendo's past that I missed.
Little musical 'spoiler':
There was a point early in the film where Mario meets Toad for the first time, and I knew I’d heard the background music somewhere before, I could hum along with the melody in my head. It wasn’t until a couple of hours later that I remembered it was from Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker – that made me smile, that was an unexpected source for a tune.

It isn't out in Japan yet, they're holding out for Golden Week. I may have to watch in Japanese but that may be a blessing in disguise.

I've seen 3 films in the cinema in the last 3 years and they've all been boooooooollllllllllooooooocks so I can't be dragged out to see the Mario movie. Plus also I don't want anyone to see me. But I will no doubt watch it as soon as it's available somewhere (prediction: BBC on Christmas Eve, or like the 28th December or one of those Void days) as it does sound like harmless fun. As you were implying Cappa, I don't think I'd want a Mario movie to be an emotional rollercoaster.
But does Bowser ever say e.g. "Shinby Bibbly"?

I've done a Google search for 'shinby bibbly'. It's a Googlewhack, and the one hit? From this site.

I think it was Martin Kitts who said that of Jack Black in an NGamer* magazine - if I had the time, I'd look through it all and try and find out!

Mario movie was fun, but a children's movie.
