Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Boo(Ster Course Pass) This Man)

This is the official word of what's new Inkling Boy and Inkling Girl from Splatoon, King Boo, Dry Bones, and Bowser Jr.! Plus, battle Mode has been revamped and includes Balloon Battle and Bob-omb Blast, with all-new courses such as Urchin Underpass and Battle Stadium, and returning ones like (GCN) Luigi's Mansion and (SNES) Battle Course 1.

Players can now carry two items at a time, including new items returning from previous Mario Kart games such as Boo, the item-stealing ghost, and the Feather, which gives you a high jump in battle mode. Players can even choose to use a new Smart Steering feature which makes driving and staying on the track easy for novice players and kids, even at 200cc. Play in TV mode in up to 1080p.

Also all the DLC which makes this a great package.

I'm actually quite excited for you. I think I said in the past that if Nintendo sorted out the battle mode then Mario Kart 8 would be the best game of the decade. It's a stone cold classic.

I've played it a couple of times before - at the meet-up last year and a mate's house, to be exact - but I was half cut on both occasions so I can't say I've had a proper go of it. I'm so keen to get amongst this in the spring.

Should be called Mario Kart 8 + Battle.

A powerful online battle mode would send this game into the stratosphere, in my estimation. Game on!

Pre-ordered. And I haven't even been able to secure a console yet! The thing is: if this takes off, even with the extra bits there could be EVEN MORE DLC.

Only managed to try a Vs. race and likely won't have time for more, it's Mario Kart, not much more to say that, works perfectly fine with the Switch console in hand but like last time probably would be better with a classic controller.

Important part is, 8 player local multiplayer works really well, smooth as baby mario's behind.

Going to be hamstrung by requiring four Switches though. I hope you can use four JoyCons on one Switch/TV combination at least.

Hmmm - good point. Right now, I suspect you can use more than one pair of JoyCons (oh jeez are we going to be typing that for the next 5 years?); however this is not based on any knowledge, and I have too much of a headache to look anything up.

Yep you can use more than one pair of JoyCons as Arms requires a pair each for 2 player. They only demoed Splitscreen Mario Kart with 2 players but I'm assuming that was down to space constraints.

Aye looks like treesmurf is correct if this pic of Bomberman is anything to go by.......actually during the bomberman segment on treehouse they had joycon sync issues & I remember seeing at least 6 paired at one time when they were showing off 8 player.

That is music to my eyes. Do need to acquire an extra pair of JoyCons soon, therefore.

Reports be sayin' that there's no extra courses in MK8D, just the battle arenas. That's disappointing if so - would hope for at least a Splatoon race course. I'll still buy it, natch, but that's a slightly more sour taste in my mouth.

Yeah I've seen that as well, does make you think what's the team been doing for the last 3 years as what we getting a few new characters and a battle mode. I hope it means they've been working or have worked on something else.

That's utter dug meat. I heard that Mario Kart 8 sold over seven million copies, so it's not like nobody's not got it. I don't think it's unrealistic for those folks to expect a little more than five characters and some battle arenas lifted from the GameCube for this "Deluxe" edition. As for me, I've already spent about fifty quid on this core game in the last three years - really, what's the incentive for me to pay yet more? I know I'll probably wind up with it because I'm a pure fud, but still,

That's the world we now live in Cappa where Deluxe editions or whatever they are for games have very little added to them and we still end buying them or they wouldn't keep doing them and this will be no different with Kart.

That's lame, hoped for at least one new cup. Hopefully battle mode well breath sufficient life back into this.

Yer man Scullion has played Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. And most of us haven't.

Also, genuine dilemma as to whether I put the article in here or the Tired Old Hack thread in Gaming GNews.
