Day 9:
Ah, Cave Story, my old nemesis, we meet again... This is fine. I didn't like the bass for the first bit, but then it takes off and it's pretty decent. That ODST music doesn't sound like something from a shooter and is possibly all the better for it: that bit where the sax creeps in is *chef's kiss*. SPvtW piece feels very SPvtW.
That is definitely Strange Things through a Mega Drive. I don't think I really have an idea of the technical side of things though, so I don't think I'm giving it its full due. Sorry!
Spider-Man is proper Marvel stuff. I'm not entirely sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing! Definitely atmospheric though, and surely better in context.
I'd like that Goldeneye theme a lot more without the N64's horrible attempt at an overdrive guitar. Once that goes away I've got a lot of time for the rest - which is admittedly basically just that theme stretched out and with tinkly bits.
I'm getting Skyward Sword Guardians vibes from that BioShock 2 piece - I imagine it's great in context! And by 'great' I mean 'bowel-voiding'. Kung-Fu Panda is indeed quite exciting and dramatic. No tune though.
GJones' pick has the appropriate level of funk considering its source material!

Y'all are bobbins. And wrong:
The Xenoblade series has belting belting belting music, and there are any number of hits I could choose - from well-worn classics like You Will Know Our Names in the original to this beautiful cover featuring the bobbins Scottish accents of 2 and their ad nauseam battle quotes. This is one of my favourite standard battle themes in gaming. Kicking in towards the back half of 2, it's a lift in energy that fits the beasties you'll be fighting well and gets you pumped... damn it. Too soon!
And it's a belting game too you lot.
Day 10:
I've told you/Buska that I've forgotten most of BW - like the fact that it had a separate tune for the gym leader's final Pokémon decades before Sword/Shield! It's grand to hear that motif in actual gameplay. I'd have felt like a king when that played in context! Or like I was holding onto victory with my fingertips...
Like Cappa, I felt like Dream Team (Bros.) was a bit bulky and poorly paced for what it was. I didn't like the soundtrack quite as much either. This is a good theme, but I'd not say it's up with the series' best... (side-eyes Rum)
I've heard snippets from Persona games before and been left cold. This is okay! I'm trying not to listen too hard to the actual lyrics...
Harpsichord! This is perhaps the closest to 'standard JRPG music' so far this week. It's also my fave thus far because I Am A Weeb (hi Jim).
The FFXIII piece is softer than I'd expect - I think a battle theme needs a bit more oomph than that one has. ...oh hang on, I've just hit 0:58 and it's got good! Bit of a long build-up for a standard battle theme? The FFVII tune falls into the 'classic, can't think of what to say' bracket.
Jim's picked a good'un despite his disdain for the genre! Good sense of movement. When your characters aren't actually doing anything, that's vital.
Other chat:
masofdas wrote:
Surprised you didn't go for a StarFox or something, Balla
GJones nicked Starwing, I don't think N64 soundtracks have aged that well on the whole (see above), I've never played Adventures or Assault, I try to forget that I've played Command and I just... don't remember any of the music from Zero. I considered Kid Icarus Uprising, the air segments of which are the best Star Fox since Lylat Wars, but Fox himself wasn't in the picture.

To that end: My Hub World pick only counts as Mass Effect 1, you can't count it as the whole trilogy.
Hooray! How were your night shifts boss? I'll make that change, I assumed it was specific to the trilogy when bought ensemble.

Haha, I just thought you might have planned to feature it at some point later in the month, as I got the impression from the Undertale reaction that you've done a lot more forward planning than me. Also, perhaps after this is all over, we need to have some kind of "this is what I would have chosen IF I WAS ALLOWED TO" session after the month is over, lest you and Jay beat me up after school for the Undertale thing. (Hopefully Buska will help defend me. Spider Dance is my FAVOURITE.)
Also Balla you asked somewhere about what tune from A Hat in Time I would have chosen and I discovered that I misremembered a remix of a tune as a tune that was actually in the game. Woops! I would have chosen Your Contract Has Expired but in lieu of that the tune you chose probably is up there compared to the rest of the soundtrack! The misremembered remix in question:
I'm glad that people liked the battle music from Symphonia. Treesmurf, you're absolutely right - 80s montage vibes aplenty.

Day 10: RPG Battle Music
Ooooh boy. Plenty to choose from here... I think I shall go with this:
Despite Rum absolutely FUCKING it with taking UT out of contention so early, I will not be deterred. The battle theme from Deltarune Chapter One is an absolute bop. I think Toby Fox levelled up since UT as the whole soundtrack is on another level, but it's the battle theme that stuck with me for being a groovy time indeed.
Time to play catch-up!
Day 6:
Balla (SSBB Pokemon Track): This sounds like the music that'd play at the end of an episode of the Pokemon anime. "What troubles lie ahead for Ash and the gang?" It's very jolly.
Jimbob (AER): Oh, this was lovely and one of the few picks from Day 6 that I found relaxed me too. It's like a lost song from Explosions in the Sky.
Treesmurf (SWD2): All about this as well. The muted pipes in the background and the light drums... very chill. I approve!
gjones (Hollow Knight): Yep, perfectly captures the desolation and bleakness that pervades the world of Hollow Knight. Great choice.
Day 7:
Treesmurf (Among the Grasslands): I dug this! Very triumphant in its own way.
Rum (UT): Okay, memes aside, an incredibly solid pick. I'd only really rate Death by Glamour above this track. This one is a bop, through and through.
Cappa (Mighty Milky Way): I was thinking "this sounds a bit like a Shovel Knight tune" and then I saw you mention it was composed by the same fella, so there ya go! Yeah, I dug this.
Mas (If Found): Minimalist, but not a bad tune. 'Twas fine!
Buska (Pony Island): Ooooh, this was great! Very intense stuff. Thumbs up.
Balla (AHiT): Yep, dug this too! The Eastern influences in the track sealed the deal for me.
Jimbob (Knytt Underground): You've 100% linked this before on the forum because this made it into my highly prestigious VGM playlist on YouTube. This is such a groovy and chill piece. I really like this one a lot - thanks for reminding me of it! This would be my pick of Day 7 had Rum not SCREWED the pooch and unleashed UT on us all.
Day 8:
Buska (Transformers): Suitably bombastic for a Transformers game music piece. That choral chanting!
Cappa (Space Harrier): Okay, this piece is perfectly fine and all but I can't disassociate from feeling utterly frustrated trying to complete a high score challenge in Yakuza 0 so it must go into the bin, sadly.
Balla (Splatoon 2): I think I've been record before saying that I don't really like the Splatoon soundtrack because of the squid voices and all. It feels there's a catchy tune in here waiting to grab my attention, but I can't get past the gurgly voices.
gjones (Perfect Dark Zero): Man, this track is nearly brilliant but I'm not a fan of the vocal element of it. A shame.
Mas (Gears 3): This is cheating, banned.
Jimbob (Perfect Dark): This has the same problem as the PD0 pick for me but with outdated instrumentation.
Treesmurf (Eledees): I don't think I ever got very far in this game, so I've not heard this tune before. I really enjoyed this and is my pick of Day 8 from you guys. The little plucked strings and the piano throughout the whole track really works well in my opinion.
Rum (Bioshock 2): I see someone posted the Jaws soundtrack instead of a videogame piece.
Day 9:
Buska (Spider-Man 2): 10/10 and I mean that unironically. Unfortunately it now has lyrics in my mind after seeing this.
Mas (TMNT): Nice! Really groovy time. The bassline is top.
Balla (Ducktales Remastered): Also cheating, but I like the track and it actually originated from a game rather than being a cover from the early 2000s of a Tears for Fears song, so you get a pass. Mas is still banned.
Cappa (Toy Story): Randy Newman has never sounded so good.
Treesmurf (Spider-Man): Cinematic as all hell, which is what they were going for I suppose. I enjoyed it.
Jimbob (Goldeneye): I'm not a fan of Goldeneye from a gameplay perspective in the year 2020, but there's no denying that they nailed the Bond sound with the soundtrack. Top pick.
Rum (Kung Fu Panda): It was absolutely fine, but not one I'll remember!
gjones (Moonwalker): That certainly was Billie Jean on the Mega Drive.
Day 10 :
Buska (Pokemon Black/White): Starts off as the most Pokemon track you've ever heard, but that bit around 0:33 sets it apart from the rest. I liked it!
Cappa (Dream Team Bros): Mario and Luigi has always been on the ball when it comes to soundtracks. Agreed with how it picks up around the minute mark!
Mas (P5R): I wonder if someone is trying to sneak P5 through on a later date on a technicality...
I liked this, but I preferred YOU'LL NEVER SEE IT COOOOMIIIIIIIIIING from the base game.
Rum (Tales of Symphonia): Good solid RPG battle theme. Fits the bill to a T!
Treesmurf (FFXIII): This was actually going to be my pick, funnily enough. I personally think this is the best battle theme out of the whole FF series. The way it leaps into overdrive around the minute mark is just inspired. 13 gets an unfair rap.
Jimbob (Breath of Fire): Yes! This was great. The galloping bassline, a solid opening melody... perfect classic RPG battle music.
Balla (Xenoblade 2): I think an RPG has to have a solid opening to its battle theme as inevitably, that's the bit you'll hear the most whereas you'll only hear the later parts of the track in tougher battles. This accomplishes that goal perfectly and then just gets better and better. What an absolute bop. My pick of Day 10 from you guys.

I put it down as Persona 5 anyway. Is there a substantial difference? Rude Buster is Toby Fox so it's top, natch. I'd say there are a couple of better battle tracks in Deltarune though. See Rum, it's not just you! Must admit Jay, I presumed you'd pick Octopath...

Actually I missed out on using one of my fave M&LSS pieces in Hub Day to squeeze in my fave Mario RPG (it's probably a better piece than Rogueport as well). As for the other...
I'm pretty much doing would-be picks as I go along anyway - I'd probably have gone for Bonetrousle or Hopes and Dreams (Death By Glamour's also belting), but actually I'd have saved it for Hummable Day and gone for something else entirely...
Can't argue with Contract, it's a blinding Toby Fox-level pick. That remix is very jazzy.

No night shifts Balla, just long shifts. I work in a school, what would I be doing at night?
That Breath of Fire track was pretty decent. Tbe Xenboblade one was quality, of course. I thought about using a track from the first myself. Not listening to that DR one because I want to hear it when I eventually play it.
Onwards! Day 11: Puzzle Game Music

Musta misread. How were the long shifts then?
This was a tough one for me. Perennial Balla-favourite Meteos has a great soundtrack, but it’s dynamic and changes with battle conditions and isn’t suited for something like this. The last proper Layton game has this banger that nobody else seems to remember. And there’s an excellent track that I’m holding back for another week. But in the end, there can only be one winner, and I think y’all know what it is...
Spoiler:
Now with a new verse from the album!
Ha, you posit that A Hat in Time’s twee then post a Puzzle Bobble track that’s the most twee babyish music I’ve ever... damn it, why am I grinning like an idiot!?

The best thing about Day 10 is that, now that it's passed, we never need to talk about RPGs on the forum ever again.
I think I'd have gone for a Puzzle Bobble game myself! Bust-A-Move 2 is maybe my favourite puzzler ever, it's a phenomenal multiplayer game. You were spoilt for choice with that soundtrack, but fair dos for going with the nostalgic pick. I'll be reviewing the two Bust-A-Move games on N64 at some point, and I'll be rating them highly - they're still great games.

Day 11: Puzzle Game Music

Day 11: Puzzle game music
I chose the music that plays when you're down to the last 10 people in the competition in Tetris 99. When the blocks are falling at 100mph and everyone is flinging garbage at each other and this is playing, it is chaos, and it's great.
I did think about trying to be more imaginative and almost posted a tune from either Boom Blox or Murder by Numbers but to be honest nothing could hold a candle to this remix of a classic. So I decided to be a bit boring. (Still leaves other Tetris games open for people to choose if they want!)

Thoughts:
Pokemon Black/White - Nostalgia! This seems quite complex for battle music - is this during a battle? Maybe I am thinking of the GameBoy games...
Mario & Luigi: Dream Teams Bros. - I like that this is a boss battle. It sounds a bit goofy, but I guess the M&L games can be.
Persona 5 - This is a battle theme?? Does Persona have singing during the heat of a battle? I'm genuinely intrigued, as that's bold.
Tales of Symphonia - This is more like it. Shit's about to go down.
Final Fantasy 13 - I'd like to see this dubbed over the Game of Thrones intro - it sounds suitably epic.
Breath of Fire - This sounds late game, suitably tense and I get "1 HP" vibes as I inevitably die again in battle.
Xenoblade 2 - I need to get back on the first game, becaues the music is probably the best thing in the game. This one manages to be grandiose without being forceful - a bit like the world itself. It's big, it's daunting, but it holds subtle beauty.
Deltarune - No idea what this is, but I like. It sounds like a JRPG disc melted down and fed through a 32X - very eastern but still has that chiptune about it
Puzzle Bobble - that change at 20 seconds! Thought it was fairly generic until then, but now I can't stop heading my nod (he's says typing as he nods)
Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo - The kick-snare is mightily simple, almost ruining it but as my ears get more drawn to the melodies, it fades away. This bangs! Portal - I liked Portal but I've never been a fan of robot singing/Autotune. The tune itself is good though
Tetris 99 - I've never heard this because I barely crack the top 50 in a game! This would have me sweating buckets, which I guess is the purpose.
Day 10: RPG Battle Music
I'm not really a big RPG guy, but one that I fondly remember is Grandia 2. This battle music not only sets the tone as you line up against some giant insect, but stands up on its own.
Day 11: Puzzle Game Music
I do like a bit of Columns, but this music was god-damn hypnotic. Was Columns set in Egypt? Probably. This track is embedded in my memory though after years of playing, I remember getting to level 150 against a friend once. Might be the only puzzle game I've been decent at. God, the Mega Drive has so many bangers.

Some good picks for Puzzle games, my favourite is probably Puzzle Bobble but I've got a lot of time for the Sushi Striker one and Ken's theme (I had no idea that a Puzzle version of Street Fighter existed). That Tetris 99 pick is the 2nd pick to show up from my previous attempt!
I'll go with this cheery tune from Snipperclips, it's a bit all over the place at times but it goes with the happy, fun nature of the game. It also has some really nice parts to it that wouldn't sound out of place in some of Nintendo's big hitters as well as a certain noise that's synonymous with arguably Nintendo's biggest game.
Last time I went with...:
The brilliant opening theme from Murder By Numbers, it's cheesy in all the right ways and I really like the line "I'll protect your honour if you be my scout" which is the names of main characters for those that haven't played.

Yep, definitely not going to talk about any more RPGs. Especially not in this thread. Nope. That pick's weird! Obviously I know Ken's theme, and that feels like... you know when you say a word a lot and it stops becoming a word? That, but applied to Ken's theme.

Wasn't quite posh enough to be boarding, thank goodness. Brilliant classic pick, one of those that's still great despite being overused. Also I'm a bit confused: is the P5R track you posted in the original Persona 5, or is it all-new/a newly remixed version?

Day 11: Puzzle Games
I've got to admit, I really don't play a lot of puzzle games at all. I think it's the genre that I've had the least exposure to in all honesty. I nearly went for something from Danganronpa on the basis that it's more of a puzzler than Ace Attorney, but it didn't feel like it fit the bill as well as I'd liked. To that end, I'm going for a track from a game that I've not actually played, but I've had this track in my VGM playlist for literally years.
Such a mellow time. There's something kinda sad about this tune too. It's a cracker.
To clear up confusion, that P5R track is a new one Balla - I was somewhat half joking about Mas being cheeky and using it to keep P5 open for another day.
Day 11 Thoughts:
Buska (Bubble Bobble): Very cheery and almost has a beach vibe. An easygoing time to kick us off!
Balla (Sushi Strikers): Ha, yes, this is great. Pure anime opening energy.
Cappa (SPF2T): Oooh, I like this remix of Ken's theme. Ken's theme is basically the main Street Fighter theme in my eyes, no matter how much they'd like to pretend it's Ryu's theme.
Mas (Portal): Yep, a genuine classic. Now that we're past that window of time where Portal memes were nigh unsufferable (dur hurr the cakes a lie!!!!) I can really appreciate this for the fun time it is.
Rum (Tetris 99): Ah, music I've never heard in-game. That is an incredibly fitting track for the sheer panic I'd be feeling at that stage of the game though. Suitably intense!
gjones (Columns): This feels like the opening town theme from an RPG. Very cosy, which is apropos for a puzzler I suppose!
Treesmurf (Snipperclips): Jolly and whimsical - much like Snipperclips, I suppose!

Still Alive is a classic - I associate it heavily with my first year of uni, because my flatmate had a 360 before I ever did, and he introduced me to Portal then. Very nostalgic.
I liked that Snipperclips theme - it was fun! Same with Puzzle Bobble and Super Puzzle Fighter which I also didn't know existed. Maybe it's time for an unexpected reboot on Switch.
I'm sneaking in with Day 12: Music that makes you sad - and hopefully I haven't stepped on anyone's toes here...
It had to be Lavender Town from Pokemon RBY. A lot of people might regard it as creepy instead, but I remember arriving there as a kid and thinking... what's going on here? There's such an immediate tonal shift the second you step in to the town boundaries and the music starts playing. I remember a friend of mine getting to that point of the game after I did and thinking something was wrong with the sound on his Game Boy. Once you progress a bit further into the story, you end up talking to a bunch of NPCs about their dead Pokemon, and it ultimately culminates in the mother Marowak that needs to find peace. IT'S SO SAD.

Day 12: Music That Makes You Sad
I know some people were disappointed by the final ending of Mass Effect 3, but really the whole game was an ending to the trilogy and right from the start it was pretty emotional.
Lavender Town is an interesting one- I do find the RBY version creepy, but the Lets Go remix is very sad.

Day 12: Music That Makes You Sad
JayMoyles was onto something when he said that "there's something kinda sad" about his Professor Layton choice. My pick today is from an earlier game in that series - it's the ending theme from Professor Layton & The Diabolical Box:
I remember feeling quite sad when I finished Professor Layton & The Diabolical Box. The first one had captivated me earlier that year, and I was so excited for the follow-up that I ended up importing it through G-Force. Diabolical Box felt like a proper adventure to me, and I felt a connection to the characters and the game's setting. There was no certainty that any of the others were going to be localised either, so I finished it knowing that this could maybe be the last Layton game I'd get to play.

MOYLES! I thought I was safe. I thought I could safely coast to the end with nobody picking the fifth Professor Layton. I thought the lovely Mysterious Flower (presented there complete with animation) was a safe pick for credits. Nope! Sniped. That track's trademark Layton - slow slightly melancholic acoustics with some fine string work, with that accordion kicking in later. It's a good pick - but I wish you hadn't...
Day 12:
Lavender Town ain't sad to me, but of course Rum's given his context and that's fair enough. It's very good at what it does, mind. As for the version Buska mentioned, I'd say it's sadder but I still get mostly creepy vibes. The original's the best though.
That's some sad sad Mass Effect music... spoiled slightly by the 'BWAAAAAAAH' sound for me that made me jump out of my chair. Otherwise a very good sad tune.
Is this going to be another Mas pick that isn't actually in the game in this form? The original isn't that sad - I think it actually sounds pretty triumphant. And unfortunately Aerith's death for me will now forever be associated with
this:
Cappa's is another top sad Layton pick. I like this one somewhat less - the accordion for me will always be a lighthearted folksy instrument that doesn't work as the main source of sadness. It's still good though, with a nice melody and some appropriately sad context from Cappa. I was probably fuming too much at the ending to appreciate it at the time...
As for me, I had two possible picks, and to Cappa's delight I'm sure they're both from JRPGs. I'm surprise Mas hasn't beaten me to this in some shape or form actually:
The Last Story, then. A very odd JRPG with great combat, variable voice acting, no overworld, and a broadly forgettable soundtrack... apart from this achingly beautiful tune. No context for this: it's just a very sad-sounding piece that plays a couple of times, including over the credits (just lost myself a potential pick there). It edged out its nearest competition because everything that makes it sad is actually in the game.
The competition:
Or this, as it sounds in game. I was first introduced to Catherine Warwick's version through this belting Earthbound flash, and it makes me well up every. Goddamn. Time. I'm a cynical realist/pessimist with a bitter worldview and a grim take on humanity, and the beautiful naïve optimism of the idea behind the lyrics... it brings me to tears, and for a moment every time I believe in miracles. Also the tune's lovely.
Buuuuuut in-game it's bleepy-bloopy stuff that conveys none of the emotions, so Earthbound Beginnings remains an available pick!

Ultra Hard Mode giveth and taketh as it chooses.
Right, Day 12!
Mother 3 is not a happy game. It might appear that way on the surface, but it's a deeply sad affair for the most part. This track... to explain it is a spoiler and some naive part of me still hopes that people will get to experience the game for themselves one day, so I'll spoiler box it.
Spoiler:
It plays after Flint (who is Lucas's dad) finds out that his wife Hinawa has been killed and his son Claus is missing, presumed dead. The opening of the track really drives that home - it's like a sudden shock as Flint's world comes tumbling down. He lashes out in anger and denial at his friends. It's absolutely crushing.
Some thoughts on your choices!
Rum: Lavender Town is definitely more of a creepy vibe for me, but it's a sad location in an otherwise carefree game.
Buska: Your Mass Effect picks are making me want to replay the trilogy now.
Mas: Cheating by using a cover, but it's a classic pick so I'll forgive you. Aerith...
Cappa: Definitely a bittersweet vibe from that Layton track. It doesn't come across as inherently sad for me, but I suppose with the context of potentially not getting another Layton game it can definitely feel a bit sorrowful.
Balla: I liked this! Bizarrely though, the first vocal bit is identical to the main melody of a wrestler's entrance song. Compare the 0:23 mark in this video to the 1:15 mark in your pick.

Blimey, missing a day and it all gets confusing! Some ace puzzle-y bits there (er, I think I've contributed to the discussion by saying that), but I knew roughly which game I was going to choose for my puzzler:
The New Tetris - Thread6
This one isn't really a specific ethnic thing - I don't think so anyway - but there's a load of dubby-remixty world music in TNT, which doesn't really sound like anything else. I went for this one though.
Sad music. This one's a bit more difficult. I was actually thinking of Pollyanna - but the original Mother version of that is quite upbeat, and I daren't steal the other version... I really don't want to have to steal another biggy - just thought of a certain time-travelling game. Ah, got it
The Talos Principle
The game doesn't make me sad; it's about solving puzzles with lasers and mirrors. However, the person who did the soundtrack decided it should be sad. What the fuck, dude?

I remember that Mother 3 bit, and that's some really good sad music for a GBA game. I'm very glad I played the fanslation.
That New Tetris track, er, definitely is a track. I thought 'Thread6' was an error message of some kind! The Talos track is much better, very ambient tragedy. Nice kitten too.

Day 12 I did a think for:
Well actually this is Day 11 this one but my word the Mask of Miracle theme is beautiful stuff in my opinion. The New Tetris music is quite funky in places but I'm a little creeped out by the bit the sounds like a person going "eggeggegg", however when the drum n' bass kicks in I really liked it.
Now some Sad Music! Lavender Town is probably always gonna be the perfect choice for this category, without even considering the real life stories you hear about it, in the game its a very poignant moment in an otherwise cheerful game.
The Mass Effect ending sounds epic as heck, never played the games but I know all about the ending and I can see why this would be perfect for it. Mas, you are aware there's a category for covers right? Should have saved this, great song and great version of it although from only playing Remake and not the original I didn't get sad vibes from this, it just reminds me of Aerith's positive personality.
The Layton one is nice, I should really play that series and with the music turned up from the sounds of it. The Last Story one makes me sad because it sounds like I really missed out not playing that, worst part is I used to own it. The Mother 3 music has major sat inside sipping a coffee watching the rain vibes. The Talos Principle sounds a little creepy and ominous.
I struggle with the category as games are supposed to be happy and make me feel good, no matter how much games like the one I'm currently playing try to make me feel bad for murdering pixels (which I'm shocked you didn't go with Mas).
Anyway my pick is from Human Fall Flat, I feel like there's some deep themes to this game that went straight over my head as most of the soundtrack is this kind of piano based Doom and gloom, this one does have some happier sounding parts to it though, possibly the worst one I could have picked from the game actually in terms of sadness but I like it.
I originally went for...:
There's a mood to Hollow Knight and the title screen sets that mood straight away, lovely stuff though.
Whilst I'm here... Day 13: Music from a Game you don't like
I feel like a bit of a bastard picking this and in this category especially as I know a few others would have liked to have used it but it's one of the few that I could think of that simultaneously has music worth listening to. For what it's worth, Journey is a beautiful game to look and listen to, it just bored me. I do intend to play it again one day though as I think I could appreciate it more now.
You can probably guess my other choice for this last time...:
It's that other all time classic PlayStation game everyone but me loves, unlike Journey though I don't have too much desire to return to this, never say never as I really did like it until a point and this song got me every time.

That FF music has been in too many dumb teenagers' youtube videos- including my own - to be effective any more.
Cappa and Balla get props for choosing something other than plinky plonky piano. Talos was very atmospheric, good stuff. Human Fall Flat caught me off guard- i thought it was a silly comedy game.
Here's some music I like from the level I like from a game I otherwise don't like.

The piano version of Aerith is the first one that come up with on YouTube. When I was thinking for covers later on that's not the sort of thing I was thinking, I was thinking more Buska singing Mad World.
You're not doing Super Hard Mode, Buska? Dam Smurf want to stick it to Mas don't ya.
I don't really dislike games, I know what the worst game I've ever played is Stake on OG Xbox but couldn't tell you a tune from it and I play bad games as well. Then you have things like Souls games which I appreciate them for what they are but not for me.
That I had two choices of games and well Smurf made it easy
