| Somehow the Metroids seem a lot less frightening now... |

| Console special editions are yet another thing I don't understand, but they clearly work in some cases so... |

| That's why I liked the New Nintendo 3DS and its swappable face plates: celebrate your favourite game or games without having to buy a whole new console. And now it's been discontinued. |

| I'm not sure when I'll get round to playing this but I love Metroid and I want Nintendo to keep publishing them so I really should pick it up. |

| I've made it to the first save point. The parry mechanic is going to take some getting used to but it looks and feels so, so good. Well happy so far. |

| Got it, but am keeping it for my holiday in four weeks. I've got enough to play for now, between MHS and M+RKB. |

| I too have the game now, but like Balla I'll be holding off till I rattle through some other games first. |

| I've played about 2 hours and 20 minutes of this now & it's great stuff, the parry is very cool & feels like something Samus should have had all along not to mention it makes you feel like even more of a bounty hunter when you take out 2 - 3 enemies in a couple of quick shots. EDIT: Oh I also decided to fully immerse myself by cranking up that 3d (something I haven't used in a while) and wearing some headphones, it was ace! |

| My play time is probably half an hour longer than Jas's? I'm a lot more comfortable now that - Spoiler:
I've got the Ice Beam. It means I don't have to parry a Metroid and fill it with missiles, which I really cannot do. Using the Ice Beam may take longer but it means Samus doesn't, y'know, die.
I'm a bit sore about having to hold a button down to fire missiles. In the old days you'd select them and then just fire away; in 2017 I'm holding R to get missiles on, then L to aim, and X to fire. Slightly more awkward than it could have been. Still top gaming, though. |

| Not sure how in-depth it is but you can customise the controls & I agree that it can be awkward at first but I think I'm used to it now, the only weird thing I found myself doing was occasionally hitting down on the d-pad thinking it was for the morph ball. |

I caved and started this last night - played for about half an hour or so, but I'm pretty impressed! The parry mechanic really feels satisfying to pull off, although I've struggled to get the timing down consistently so far. The scan pulse is a genius idea too. I think gradually charting out each area with the pulse rather than finding a map room makes for a much more fulfilling exploration of the Metroid homeworld. More thoughts to come. |

| Update! I'm personally offended that I've played about nine and a quarter hours but only have 35.3% completed. So little! The controls are still not as intuitive as I'd like, particularly - Spoiler:
during the chase sequence I've just beaten after twenty-odd deaths.
If you could only move with the D-pad and select your Aeiouion powers with the Circle Pad... and yet still enjoying it a great deal. |

| The only issue I've had with the controls so far is trying to precisely aim missiles - holding L and R down and trying to use the 3DS Circle Pad is a bit fiddly. Still, enjoying this - into area 3 now and suited (literally) and booted with the Varia Suit and Wave Beam. |

| I have a sense that I'm nearing the end. I'm finally powerful enough to go back and collect most of the power-ups and mark the map with pointers for all the stuff I can't yet get. I might even be sad to see it go. |

| For that reason I have kind of been putting off playing it some days just so it lasts longer even though I'll be taking a crack at the fusion mode at some point. |

| I had an incredibly frustrating session of this today. - Area 6 Spoilers:
I fought that big robot boss and it took me about 45 minutes. Granted, the first 15-20 minutes were likely due to me fucking up or learning its patterns, but the remainder was due to the fiddly Morph Ball controls in that last section where you need to bomb into that suction field the robot emits. I couldn't consistently quickly go into the Morph Ball, drop some bombs and then jump away. The penalty for fucking up was THREE energy tanks worth of damage. Ludicrous.
Despite that, I'm enjoying feeling like the all-powerful Samus Aran again now that I'm loaded up with all of her power-ups. |

| Double post!
I've beaten this now - pretty damn fun! I enjoyed the last two boss battles, which was refreshing after my spoiler boxed nightmare above. I don't have much of a desire to go back and 100% this, so I think I'm done. Still, a solid remake and it's made me hungry for more Metroid! |

| Nice to see you enjoyed it, I personally haven't had a single player 3ds game grab me like that in a while & even though I still have MH stories to play this feels like the perfect swansong for 3ds. |
