| I've been playing this a bunch on wii U recently & loving it all over again, I'm currently in miridia but I've decided I'll be going to go back to other areas to hunt for more energy tanks.
So anyone else delved into this like I have? |

| Ooh me me I did! Gave me an excuse to turn back on the old Wii U, and after half an hour of frustration it finally implanted itself in the console. Like a Metroid on a face.
Surprisingly effective opening! Samus Aran: worst mother ever? |

| Oh there's been a few moments where I've been stuck with no clue where to go then I shoot away a part of the ceiling then continue onwards, now that I have the x-ray I hope I will no longer get lost. |

| I have died so far three times on the Morph Bomb guardian. The first time I didn't know how to avoid its claw, but I didn't have that excuse the other two times. Is this me being rubbish, or does the game just have a steep learning curve? |

So tempted to do the maths on that... On topic, although I haven't downloaded the game, it is sitting on my Wii, where I was horrified that I'd lost the majority of my knowledge on how to beat it. |

| That's all part of the challenge & the sense of adventure, I've only to finished this game like 3 times & for me not remembering what to do makes it better. (If that makes sense)
So GET IT PLAYED |

| Played it an awful lot on the SNES, plugging away at it slowly on the WiiU. It still astounds and enthralls me to this day. Plus, I can never quite seem to remember everything (unlike Link To The Past which I could probably do with my eyes closed ) so it's always a nice challenge. - Stu_the_great wrote:

| The first copy I bought of this came in a double pack with A Link To The Past, which I already had. I sold LttP on and enjoyed me some Metroid-y goodness. A good portion of the super-creepy atmosphere was lost on the young me, but I've played it since and appreciated it all the more. Fab game; one which has not been bettered (in 2D, at least - Prime may be the better game overall). |

Wonder how much that double pack would be worth now, still sealed... |

| I wasn't even aware there was a double pack like that, which has to be THE best 2 in one game bundle ever! Also snap with not appreciating it fully when younger. |

I think the whole "not appreciating it when young" thing applies to an awful lot of Nintendo's stuff. Sure, I blasted through a lot of Nintendo things as a kid, they were bright, fun, and AWESOME. Back then, I thought I was missing out as my mate's Amiga games seemed to have more content, be bigger, be fancier. Now though, I can appreciate what Nintendo do. And I now know my youth-fuelled Amiga envy was wrong. Less is sometimes more when beautfully constructed, as Nintendo games are. |

| It really is a wonderfully crafted game - the article mentions how it's a perfect speedrunning game, and I have to agree. Every single year at Games Done Quick it steals the show, without fail. If you've got a spare hour, then I highly highly recommend the four-way Super Metroid race from this year's SGDQ. I don't want to spoil it in any major way, but it's got one of the most unique endings to any speedrun I've seen at Games Done Quick. |

That was absolutely amazing! After the VHS tape comment I was pulling for Behemoth all the way. |
