I mentioned in the Nintendo direct thread that I really liked the look of the brief glimpse we got of this game, and after watching this 5 minute video of gameplay it has shot right up to one of my most anticipated Switch games.
It's just beautiful stuff.
EDIT: Oh also this is a really nice story between Zoink (the devs of this game) and Image & form of steamworld dig fame.

I thought this was EA for some reason. Huh. Anyway, it looked really pretty, but I can't justify a purchase with my backlog in the state it is. One for later...

EA are publishing this, I believe. It looks incredible, stylistically, but I am on the fence about it. Can't quite put my finger on a concrete reason why, mind.

It seems like a perfect fit for a Nintendo system to me, I especially like that there seems to be a musical element to it all as well & the howls reminded me of Twilight princess.

The publisher doesn't bother me so much; in fact, it's nice to see EA helping the smaller dev teams out there. I'm wondering if it's that there's an extra dimension in the platforming. Recent 3D ones have disappointed me a bit.

Ooh - good call. I missed this first time round as they bunged it in with Celeste, and I did know that one. I think I'm on board for this... although it sounds like it might make me cry like a big wuss!

Has anyone actually picked this up? I've read mixed things, and combined with my seven-game backlog I've used that as an excuse not to buy this. A couple of strong recommendations from people here could sway me though. Jas, Mr. Threadstarter, did you get around to this in the end?

Your man Matthew Castle makes it sound like a game which is flawed, but the good bits are properly amazing, which sounds like the kind of thing I love to defend.

He used to love that, too. I remember him giving Scribblenauts an incredibly high score, solely - it seemed - because he liked the premise.

For some reason, this sentence makes your post read like either you or Scribblenauts are Matthew Castle's estranged wife.

So, yeah I finished this a little bit ago & it's definitely one of those games where's more about the journey (no, not the shit walking game ) than it exciting you with the moment to moment gameplay.
The platforming is very easy going & it's always quite clear what you have to do as well so it never get's hard or challenging really and that's fine, there's a little bit of stealth involved too but this isn't super strict either and if you do get caught you start over right where you were - the visuals and the music is what really makes Fe, just have a wee look at it.
It's all just quite relaxing and all the little creatures you befriend/help along the way are quite charming, I was never disappointed with it or really wowed either if I'm honest but it was a nice experience.

Is this the game with big search light monsters stomping about at points? That put me off the game to be honest (if it's the one I'm thinking about, mind) but if it's not too punishing being caught then that sounds more appealing.

I'm in exactly the same boat as Jay. If the stealth's non-annoying then I'm probably in; otherwise (funny how this works) I'm probably out!

Yep it is & if you are seen it's pretty much instant death, though like I said the check points are very generous and you can get away from it sometimes.

I should mention this should also probably only be bought when on sale.

It sounds like a game I would enjoy, just waiting for a sale or come to access before I get around to it.
