| August 2003 was a bit of a banger which started out well with PS2 exclusive Silent Hill 3 which I can't really remember, I think it has the issue that it isn't SH2 and the 4th was so different then the later games have nearly all been crap that those are remembered where 3 is just there. We got a Futurama game which wasn't bad for licence title, fun fact I used to have a standee of this. F-Zero GX was the big GameCube game for the month and remains a must for the system (I don't own this which is rather crazy) on Xbox the big title was from SEGA and From Software Otogi: Myth of Demons which was a banger, I hope it comes to Xbox One. Another decent licence game was Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds which to me always seemed like a sequel to OG Xbox exclusive but actually wasn't. The main game which everyone could enjoy was Soul Calibur II which I bought on all three systems day one as I'm a madman, I soon traded in the PS2 version as it was pish. The other two I kept for a while as one mate only had an Xbox and another Cube which was the best version, it's rather gutting that we've not seen Soul Calibur (yeah we had the Wii spin-off thing) on Nintendo since seeing how well two did. |

| Soul Calibur II is up there with my all-time favourite fighting games. The story mode felt like it would never end - in a good way - and playing as Link with his arsenal of different weapons was a treat. I came for Link, but I stayed for Raphael and his cheap as hell rapier attacks. What a guy. |

| SoulCalibur II came out in September, and F-Zero GX came out in October. Pedantic, but I remember those vividly, and two quick Google searches for each of them back that up. Futurama on PS2 was quite good though. |

| I settled on Talim, I think; or using Voldo's Demon's Elbow to cheese through the various Weapons Master stages. Great game, but if I'm honest I never truly got the hang of the many many moves and how they differ between characters. Button-mashing also occasionally got you far enough. |

I'm just using a wiki's list of games of that year which is more Americanised that there will be games that came out later than August in Europe and sometimes vice-versa that it is more looking back at great games of 15 years ago, otherwise, I've got to check every single game that ever came out. I remember getting good with Cassandra and Seong Mi-na depending on the version of SC2. |

I remember getting good with Cassandra and Seong Mi-na depending on the version of SC2. Just looked up some of these and none of them other than Futurama came out in August, in the UK. Silent Hill 3 came out in May. Buffy came out in October. Otogi came out in September. Soul Calibur on September 26th. |

| Didn't know Chart Track had dates but really I just want to talk good (some times really bad) retro games and using the monthly thing as a bases for that. |

| Aye, but could it not be based on the right info? And done in a way that facilitates a conversation? "This game, that was a banger" - EDIT: That's probably a bit unfair, and this probably isn't true, but that comes across like you're only arsed about typing your own post, rather than reading anyone else's reply.

| I think this will be the last time I will do this thread then if people aren't keen, but I did enjoy reading both of Jay and Balla thoughts on SCII, maybe I just need to find retro chat elsewhere.

| Sometimes a thread idea just doesn't work and that's fine. |

| Chart-Track is just sales data but you can see which are new entries and cross-reference with something like Wikipedia.
P.N.03 is one GameCube game that I'd like to pick up - anyone tried it?
Mas, I'll look at kickstarting something retro-based on here. The magazines were fun but a lot of effort, plus I don't have any magazines now. |

| I always liked the magazine stuff even though just Nintendo and why I started doing this after talking to ZeroJones, if you can figure something out that be great and hopefully no one is too pedantic.
On PN03, if you like Platinums titles like Vanquish then I would check it out as it's a very early concept to some of there other games. |

| Perhaps we could just rename this thread 'Soul Calibur II Was Blade-Bustingly Brilliant Wasn't It?' and use it to discuss SCII? Which was blade-bustingly brilliant, incidentally. |

| Soul Calibur on dreamcast was the pinnacle. |

| Even I'll debate that, even if you can use the fishing rod like a sword. |
