This time... it's Mario Bros. I'm just as shite at this as I am at Ice Climber, so I'm not expecting miracles from myself for this one!

My first attempt will arrive soon enough.

At least the jumping is better than Ice Climber.

Has anybody given this a bash yet, then? I've not had the time to get around to it yet, but I'm concerned as I've always been shite at this by myself. Unlike Ice Climber where a second player is a hindrance, a second player in Mario Bros. is a life saver.

Well, that seems like a cracking start to kick us off Jimbob. I'll give it my best tomorrow.

It took me a fair few attempts to beat Jimbob's score but when I did I got into a nice wee stride that ended with this.

And here's my attempt. 2nd place for now, but 1st feels doable this time as I felt I made a few daft mistakes.

Aye I made a few mistakes on my run as well and was even on 1 life from about 62 thousand.

The jumping feels better than in Ice Climber, but it still has that annoying early platformer thing where you can clip through the corner of a platform - very frustrating.

I've used that to my advantage at times but I would be lying if I said it was on purpose.

I had a go before checking the thread for other scores and turns out I've done alright, I think I can improve on that though so I'll have other tries.

Nicely done! I need to go back and give this another crack, but RDR2 is very much in the way of that for the time being!

My honest tip would be to make sure you nail the coin collecting bonus stage - that seemed to give me a nice boost of score whenever I cleared it. I'll give this another bash over the weekend before cycling to the next game early on next week, so get your scores in folks!

Also on the bonus stage you don't have to wait for it to say go as you can already move so you basically get a wee head start.

Donkey Kong! It's Mario's first foray under his alter ego Jumpman in which he's got to rescue Pauline from the big ape himself, DK. This is the high score challenge that's most likely to make you want to play Super Mario Odyssey, specifically that bit in New Donk City.

I am awful at this and I guarantee you that unless I become a DK savant that I'll be finishing dead last.

This is making me want to get involved, its like King of Kong up in here! Maybe I'll start my week free trial . . .

It's been a good laugh so far - I mainly made this thread to get myself to play some of the NES games that I'd never bother to touch normally, and it's worked, even if I'm still miserable at them.
