19th Cities: Skylines NS Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order NS
26th DATE A LIVE: Rio Reincarnation Fire Emblem: Three Houses NS Kill La Kill - If PS4, NS Wolfenstein Youngblood PS4, ONE, NS, PC
30th Ash of Gods: Redemption PS4, ONE, NS, PC Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden - Deluxe Edition PS4, ONE, NS

My Thoughts: Really poor month but I am getting a Switch game for the first time this year and the first since GRIS, in Fire Emblem. I could see me maybe getting AOT but it might be cheaper to pick up the standard version used then buy the DLC.
Maybe Dragon Quest Builders and Young Blood will save the month for some of you.

Oof, that's a pretty sparse month!
Fire Emblem is probably the only game I'll pick up. Youngblood is apparently co-op, so that could potentially see a look down the line.

Youngblood does have some rotten microtransactions being forced into it though.

There is absolutely nothing I want there. I haven't been gaming enough of late, though, and none of the games in my backlog are really calling to me; so here's the deal. The weekend of the 14th I'm going to buy two games, either off my eShop wishlist or one of them will be Ys VIII, and give them both a shot before the month is out.

On Youngblood if you buy physical you get a pass for a mate, much like A Way Out but it does have a version on digital stores which are £10 less without the pass.
What's the microtransactions in it, seeing it's a story based game?
@Balla FE still not tempting ya seeing it's becoming less and less about strategy, also can play without permadeath.

It's tempting me; it's probably not tempting me enough to make a purchase. It's competing with numerous other backlog and unbought games, and while the school reunion plot idea is better than the pure high school drama I thought it'd be, it still doesn't fill me with confidence.

Weapons skins which can either be earned in game by finding collectibles or bought with real money. Now, I know some will go "oh it's only cosmetic" but it just feels like it's there to dupe young kids who won't aren't bothered about finding said collectibles.

@Jas the game is a 18+, so little kids won't be playing
That's a bit naive.

I agree but if a parent is buying a 14 year old a 18+ game and then they waste hundreds on skins, I don't think it's the games fault.
It's just a shitty practice even for those who are 18+ which is still a young kid in my eyes (ooft! I feel old typing that ) as something like this just doesn't belong in a single player/co-op game in my book. Where's the sense of reward? Why do they need to monetise this rather than just having it as an in-game unlockable you earn through playing? Rage 2 another Bethesda published game even had a bloody road map for some live event nonsense they were doing just to try and snag folk so the play the game longer so they can tempt them into buying pointless skins.
Wolfenstein Youngblood might be great & I won't blame anyone for buying or being interested in it but these unnecessary microtransactions just sour it a fair bit. Oh even though I'm not the biggest fan of him Jim Sterling had a great article on this sort of thing.

That doesn't stop it from being scummy though in fact those who don't have the time or might not like hidden collectibles in games are at more risk of being a target.

Is it only children who need protecting? Adults can feel strong-armed into buying loot boxes too, and even if they don't they're probably playing a game that's been deliberately unbalanced to work in the microtransactions.
Incidentally I forgot my copy of Bloodstained was arriving, so that's one of my two games.

Still feels like something that should be included as an unlockable TBQFHWY. And you know that I mean unlocked at a more reasonable rate than they will be.

For a sparse month there's some big hitters for the Switch, Dragon Quest Builders 2 is the main one for me, I'll be having that even if I have to sell my blood. I'm kinda tempted by Marvel Ultimate Alliance because Marvel and whilst I've not really looked in to Fire Emblem I'd like that even more, if I had to choose (and I probably will have to) I'll be picked up Fire Emblem.
Them Amiibo are also on my wishlist but probably too much to buy just yet, I've flogged a lot of my Amiibo collection but Pokémon and Animal Crossing are amongst the series that I've made sure I've kept.

August will be going up this Sunday coming and it continues the big Nintendo Switch game from Nintendo each month which started back with Super Mario Maker 2. We also have sports, ports, a new game from Remedy and one from Supermassive which seem to be spiritual successors to the last big games from them, which all seem to kick off the holiday season.
Name ideas like always, please.
