| I did most of the cases in Japanese so it is brilliant to do them again in English.. (speaking of which NO ONE!! has still added or told me that they have added my Jap 3DS) |

| Am loving this. Just started the third case, and oh dear the cardboard box scene. It's such a transparent joke, but it didn't stop me from grinning at it. |

| Matthew's ONM review states that this is a lot less light-hearted than previous games. Does this have any significant impact on the type of humour contained within? The original trilogy brilliantly danced between grim and goofy several times within the space of a paragraph, after all. |

| Hmm. Check my post further up the page. I'm still finding it funny, but it is noticeably darker. That 16+ rating? I think I may just have come across the scene that earned it. Let me use this juncture to say that my favourite (new) characters so far are Blackquill, Tonate, Robin (without the finger-waving shtick), and Means. The designs are high-quality as always. Oh, and who can forget Mr. Payne and his impressive hair? ...Fulbright's got nothing on Gumshoe, or even Skye. - Late fifth case spoiler EDIT:
...oh. Oh. Oh, right.
Oh.
To quote Mr. Justice, WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!?

| I wanted to buy this on Saturday but I was scuppered by no shop stocking £20 e shop cards.
(Anyone else find it weird that those jump from £15 to £25?) |

| I pay by debit card, I'm afraid, so I haven't noticed it.
That was a really disappointing ending to the fifth case. The fourth case too, as a matter of fact. It's a shame, because they've coloured my perception of not just the cases (which were pretty good on the whole), but the entire game. I think this is the first PW game when the last case has fallen flat: usually they save the best for last (excluding the DLC case for the original, and even that ended well). |

That's what I usually do but I was out so I thought I'd try and pick one up, anyhow will be holding off on this for a wee bit until I finish the AA trilogy |

| Started last night I did Episode 1 chapter 1, basically the demo again but with extra bits. I think the 3D is decent on this and the cut scenes as well. |

| The 3D is a highlight. Neither intrusive nor pointless, it just works really well. The cut-scenes would be great if it wasn't for Athena's voice actress. |

| I'd quite like to jump straight to this one someday, but I'm only halfway through the second game in the series. In terms of the storyline, how important is it that I play through the others before I reach Dual Destinies? |

| I'd say Apollo Justice is pretty important, storyline-wise. There are at least three recurring characters from there, and a recurring mechanic, and frequent references are made to Phoenix losing his badge, which is the focus of AJ. If you've met Pearl and got the Magatama, you can probably skip the rest of JfA and T&T (although I maintain that T&T is the best game in the series).
This is from someone who's played all four, though. Masofdas? |

| I know of some of the characters such as Apollo and Payne even though it's not the Payne from previous games. But as I'm not far in not sure if I will start getting confused with the story but thena is a new character right, so she wouldn't of been there previous things. So she might ask about stuff which helps me as a player. |

| The game is doing a better job reminding me how much I miss Phoenix Wright rather than making me excited to be playing a new one. I like it, but there's a certain zing missing. The writing isn't as sharp, although I've only done one case thus far. Maybe that's telling. The older ones I'd wizz through relentlessly. Still, glad to have it back. |

| Done the first case, I am having a few problems with story now like why has Wright only just got his badge back, Didn't effect me doing the case but still it might do by then end. I see there's DLC for the game at the moment it's just costumes though, so I've got thena in her tennis outfit. |

| Count me as another who's only done the first case so far. I'm on the first day of investigation of the second case - it feels familiar but, as SquidgyGoat so rightly says, it's not the same. I feel that they're trying to recreate the Phoenix/Maya relationship in this second case and it's just not working. Still, it feels streamlined, looks grand and sounds better, so I'll just carry on regardless. |

| I agree with others that there's something that definitely feels "off." Basically, to use a rock music analogy, this game is like listening to a post-Roger Waters Pink Floyd album. You can tell that the remaining people are trying their best to recapture the magic - it has its moments, but its not quite there and you'd much rather have the real thing.
DISCLAIMER: I have only completed the first case. It could very well be that it was deliberately low-key and cases 2-5 blow me away, but for now................ |

| So everyone's saying, but I can't say I really noticed a general "off-ness" of the writing. I noticed specific things, certainly; but the writing, despite being a shade or two darker, seems generally fine to me. It's not like Takumi didn't have his off days (like much of Justice for All).
Maybe people are being swayed by the fact that they know the writer is different? Or maybe I'm being swayed into obliviousness by my love for the series. Or both. |

I definitely felt a difference in the writing between the Phoenix Wright trilogy and Apollo Justice - whether that comes from the new characters or not, I don't know. Maybe it's a difference in the translation? It used to feel much more playful than this one, is all I can tell you.

| So.... there has been a Turnabout in my opinion. Case 2 is brilliant, so ignore all the negativity I wrote about Case 1. It just took me a while to adjust, but yeah, this game is excellent - it just starts off a bit too slooow IMO. |
