Is anyone still playing this? I revisited it some time last week, and ever since I've been completely unable to put it down. Very addictive stuff, and one of those games where a failed attempt feels like experience rather than failure (yes, I'm having difficulty with SSS ranks).

I've been thinking about it, but not actually playing it. There you go.

If I'm playing a 3DS it's probably this game I'm playing, it's easy to just pick up and play and it's just a great game.

It is, isn't it? So pretty, too. I'm particularly enjoying poring through the ridiculous number of stats the game stores. So many reasons to continue playing!

It's really addictive just levelling up al the characters to 99, whilst unlocking more characters that I also want to level up! (Not that I've ever recieved all the shards for a character yet)

I've managed to unlock two characters so far, and my original set of four characters is roughly at level seventy. I'd then like to work on levelling a faster character up to reach the No. 1 bosses in the Dark Note challenges.

I never found it on the 3DS so as close as I get to it is on my iPad where I have to buy nearly every fricken song

I didn't get this initially because I haven't played any FF past VI, and I presumed it'd be all about the fanservice. Is there anyone in the same boat as me who's enjoyed this?

I've only played bits of 1,2,3,4 and 7 and all of 13 and I don't tend to have the sound on for most RPGs so it wasn't the sound that attracted me, sure I was happy to see the characters I knew walking along but it was all about the gameplay to me. There's certainly no prior knowledge needed as the only thing you'd be missig out on is nostalgia for the later games.

I don't like the Final Fantasy franchise at all, yet I love this game and its muzacs. Does this sway you? If anything, it's making me re-evaluate my opinion and I'm considering giving some of the games another shot. I feel nostalgic for music I've had little prior knowledge of.

Pretty much what Stu said- although I do like a good music game.
In a way, it's another Guitar Hero for me- I'm more interested in the gameplay mechanic than the music itself, which happens to be themed to something I'm not that interested in.

Those are pretty convincing arguments. Will look out for this, especially as I have nothing else that's currently enthusing me.

Same. It'll tide me over quite sufficiently until we get another entry into the series (it was hinted at originally, though I don't think Theatrhythm performed as well as SE hoped), or until we get a *drum roll* 3DS installment of Rhythm Tengoku*.
*This has to be a no-brainer, right?

It'll probably have stylus controls. And three rapping games.

Nintendo seems to have forgotten about the stylus functionality within 3DS. Not that it's always a bad thing, but I can't recall being forced to use it outside of Nintendogs and FreakyForms. Conversely, I can't imagine Theatrhythm being half as good if it favoured button inputs over stylus flicks/taps/holds.

I love a good music game too so I did try this back at its release but I just didn't get on with it, from a technical standpoint it's a very well made game I just felt the songs were way too short & I didn't feel like replaying any of them for a better rank.

At this stage I play Theatrhythm again when I get a StreetPass hit for it. Working my way through the Dark Note stages, some of which are pretty tough. Really keen on trying out the multiplayer at some point.

Is that a subtle hint for me to acquire it prior to the 31st, Zero?

Sir, you don't have to do anything you don't want to do... although I can't believe you don't have it already! In all seriousness, there will be other chances for me to play the multiplayer at StreetPass Manchester events.

If the hilarious Amazon Marketplace prices are anything to go by, this game must be relatively uncommon.
I would also like to sample this in multiplayer. I might have to try and make one of the StreetPass Manchester events at some point over the summer...

This is the cheapest one on eBay (that's Buy It Now): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Final-fantasy-Theatrhythm-Nintendo-3DS-Game-/300905839982?pt=UK_PC_Video_Games_Video_Games_JS&hash=item460f62bd6e
About £4 more than we paid for it new.
