| Sorry, I wasn't clear: do the Wiimotes work well on their own? |

| I'm not sure, but if you'd like I'll try a few levels with one after work tomorrow. |

| It's a lot easier with an analogue, I've found myself veering off course a few times with the D-Pad. |

| Not enough classic controllers then? I simply couldn't imagine playing it with the nunchuck/remote set up. |

| I just have the one. Any further purchases would be Pros, though, because I can't stand the thing. |

| To my mind, the Wii Classic Controller is better than the Pro, which is expensive for what it is. It also doesn't feel comfortable to me. That might just be my tiny hands, though. |

| The are we talking Wii Pro or Wii U Pro, as the Wii U Pro is one of the best controllers around, if you have problems with that due to size surely gamepad is a issue. The Wii Pro isn't great, I only owned it for Last Story nothing else as it's muh. |

I've always felt the reverse, here. Though I do have massive man-shovel hands. |

| Unlocked the not-very-secret character last night, and am now on to the extra levels - things are getting spicy. |

Samesies! Just finished that level and decided that was a good place to stop for a cup of tea and slice of GNamer.* - It's not for Balla!:
Seriously, though, don't read this if you haven't got as far as me.
That rug pull at the end of World 7 was brilliant, wasn't it? It was very self-aware of Nintendo to deliver a disappointing final battle then reveal an amazing actual finale. I don't think it quite pipped Galaxy or its sequel for epicness but it came close, and did something even those games didn't do by being not even slightly a fortress full of lava. Fantastic stuff!
Now I'm on the star world and the whole Galaxy vibe, combined with the music, gives me quite a melancholy sense of nostalgia. No matter how good this game gets,I stll wonder "What if we'd had Galaxy 3 instead?"
* Writing that has made me really want biecuits but I don't have any. I can easily foresee a trip to Esso for some extortionately priced digestives. |

| I finally got round to playing this over the weekend, and I really enjoyed what I played. Its level designs barely resemble Super Mario 3D Land's, which is encouraging too, with a lot less emphasis on certain things (there weren't many enemy layouts designed for you to chain-stomp and get extra lives for example).
Some of the camera angles did have me miss that 3D effect though.
But yes, great stuff, and all the green stars/stamps were hidden in smart locations. I'd never have found out the location of Hands-on Hall's stamp if it weren't for Miiverse, and I think only a couple of stamps were hidden in trivial places where you could tell Nintendo couldn't find anywhere to put them. |

| Completed this last week in multiplayer, great fun and certainly more playable in 4 player than NSMB, still working through it on my own where I'm working on completing properly more than anything. |

Considering recent news stories, I'd have come up with a different name for that level. |

| Ahhh, 3D Mario. Nice to have you back. I've just polished off world 1.
The good: Nice level design. Lots of secrets to be had. The cat power-up is great. Me-ow! Bowser in his big purple car. Plessie. Love her, but she makes me pine for her cousin in Hazy Maze Cave.
The bad: It is an upscaled 3D Land. Could have done with actually analogue movement. It's as easy as everyone says. Hub isn't as free-roaming as it looked. Lots of tempting jumps, too high for overworld Mario's stubby legs.
The ugly: There is none. Seriously, it's beautiful. If I'm picking nits, I might say that it's all looked a bit 3D Land so far - a bit boxy, a bit cuboidal. But the textures and the like are gorgeous. |

| Some fat man in a red suit gave me this yesterday. Very enjoyable in both single player and multi player. With the Wii U pro controller (protroller?) and wiimotes the protroller was definitely easier to use thanks to the analogue stick. The level designs are superb from what I've seen so far (just started world three) and the cat power up is just purrrfect. Sorry.
Great game!!

Do the bosses get better? So far I've had Boom Boom, Ms. Boom Boom, and the snake boss from the trailers against whom I didn't take a hit. |

| My upscaled 3D Land comment in the Wii U vote thread was a nice line but it does get its own identity before too long. |

| I've now had a chance to suffer multiplayer with the family. Plessie is great fun, but the screen is too restrictive for four players. |

| You shouldn't have much to fear, Balladeer. As is the general consensus, 3D World has its own unique identity, due to a focus on completely different mechanics than 3D Land. I played 3D Land after finishing World, and its levels feel very different. |
