| It's a bit of okay isn't it? Three hours in so far & most definitely worth the three quid. |

| Yes. Only Animal Crossing was more addictive to me on the 3DS last year. |

| Yep, I'm another who is quite fond of it. I absolutely rattled through it when I downloaded it two weeks ago - I enjoyed it that much. I hope there's more to come from SteamWorld Dig. |

| I'm surprised this didn't already have a thread as a fair few forum members (and me) like it. |

| Yep SteamWorld Dig is awesome. The developers are friendly too. It's the first time ever I've recommended a game on Twitter only for the developers to PM me with a "Thank You! Glad you liked it!" message. |

| Agreed, this is an all-round great little game, so tightly designed and memorable despite it being about digging. I even rebought it on PC just to have an excuse to play through it once more.
The developers seem like a great bunch. I had a nice chat with a member of the team at the Nintendo booth at the Eurogamer Expo and learnt a lot about the inception of the game. He was really humbled that I enjoyed it, too, which I thought was nice.
It's a shame they didn't make enough money off the 3DS version alone to cover its cost, but they did have such ambitious sales estimates. |

| Getting close to finishing this one. It's drained my XL battery twice so far. A good sign. |

| Question for those who've finished this. Did you collect all the treasure stuff & have all your gizmos fully maxed out? |

| I think I was missing 2 or 3 upgrades. I would happily have got the rest if I hadn't wandered into the final boss room. |

| And started! Long after all of you. It's okay so far. I'm not a fan of the ability to permanently lose access to treasure, which is pretty game-defining. Still, carving out my own mine is fun. |

| Speaking of nice developers - I remember tweeting about BIT.TRIP BEAT when it was first released on WiiWare, and Gaijin Games tweeted me, glad that I enjoyed it. Then they became indie superstars. But I knew them before that. Best friends. |

| With little else to play (Unepic isn't really enthralling me to be honest) I've got back into this. I've just unlocked the drill, and while I am starting to feel more impressed by the gameplay, the general aesthetic wore old fast. Give me a different aesthetic and background music, or a less procedurally generated mine, or bosses to fight: anything to relieve the monotony!
And despite this, I'm still playing. It's quite an addictive little thing. |

| I must get back into this myself. I must be near the end, but somehow I never seem to be able to sit down with it for any more than a lunch break. |

Having finished it, I can tell you that the game mixes it up more as you get further into it, but you might be disappointed when it comes to boss fights. It's not a long game, but it's brilliantly paced and well worth sticking with. |

In fact I found myself progressing through it faster than I'd have liked because of that. |

| I think I've hit the first aesthetic switch-up now - everything's gone a bit green. There's a sense of pride in sliding down the tunnels of my upper mine, and a sense of annoyance when I accidentally break one of those cracked blocks on the way down.
EDIT: Okay now Steamworld Dig is just confirming what I already new: humans are asshats. Also, steel armadillos. |

| I thought my brief review-ette might not get me any fans. It's a memorable game, I'll give it that, but I could not be bothered with the final third. |

| Got hooked and finished it today. Great little game! Just a bit frustrating collecting treasure and backtracking a tonne, because it's hard to know whether it's worth spending orbs on teleports or on upgrades. I found I was finding far too many orbs right at the end, when I didn't really need to buy teleports any more. |
