This would normally be similar to Overwatch that the games doesn't have a end but this year FIFA has The Journey which I thought was a neat idea but I can only play as so many games of football at Newcastle and Bournemouth, with like another 20+ games to go, I've had enough and I can see why finishing its trophy is rare very rare as its like 20hrs long for something that feels due to the story side of things should be more like 5hrs. So I traded it in today and added to the now £260 Switch fund, I think if you want a football game even though Journey is a neat idea, is you buy PES USED. #FucKonami out of 10

Mario Kart 8 DeluxeNot because it's bad, but because you never truly finish this. Having seen Drunka's success rate, my 'Gold Mario and Gold Kart and I'm happy' status looks pathetic in comparison. It's a belter though, isn't it. Take the best Mario Kart in ages, with two glaring flaws: dubious character roster and tripe battle mode. Fix the flaws. Result: almost perfect game. Although... if I'm being awfully picky, I can find other, tiny, flaws. MK8D will soon have a paid-for online, and we don't know what we're getting for that money beyond the obvious. No paid-for online in the original MK8. And as it's a port of a last-gen. game, it still feels just a teeeeeeensy bit cheeky that we didn't get any new tracks. We got all the DLC tracks, so you can't complain too much, but still. It is brilliant through. I don't want to give a port of a three-year-old(?) game a perfect score, but it's near as damn it. 9.5/10

| I've had a rough time of it online the last two days so I'm hopeful we'll see some dedicated servers that'll sort those connection issues out one the subscription commences.
That's my only gripe. Would liked to have seen some new trace tracks but I'll their money at any new dlc for this game should they continue supporting it |

You've reminded me, Muss: another eighth of a percent off for not being able to connect more than 6 Switches together without the game throwing a Patrick. (Erm, am I allowed to say that? Admins.?)

I didn't realise you were being a disgusting racialist, I thought you were referencing the fact we all blamed you and your name is Patrick Kielty For reference: the phrase does have its origin in Irish stereotypes BUT under UK law, insulting the Welsh, Scottish or Northern Irish is not considered a hate crime. They are "regional" and not national or racial divides.

DreamI first played this as EGX Rezzed 20...14...(? I think?) with a VR headset, which was the deciding factor of VR being for vomit induction. However, they gave out a card with a big discount on, so I thought I'd buy it and play it at some stage just in regular old 2D mode. The idea itself is a good'n - you explore several dream worlds in first person, solving puzzles - a bit like a less up-itself Myst. The level I tried at the show was an M C Escher style staircase temple - it looped vertically, which is a neat trick in 3D. However, the game never really got a "this is the live version" release, and, considering how far along some of the environments and audio-visual bits are (essentially those are "signed off") there are some horribly basic bugs in it. And the company has gone into Administration, so it's not getting fixed. A Shame / 10

Mario Kart 8 DeluxeThe credits have rolled on this but I'm happy to keep playing it for a long time to come, so the review goes here! I have struggled to get behind any Mario Kart since Super Mario Kart (I'm old) and knowing everything about this game before it came out lowered my expectations dramatically. And, as mentioned elsewhere on this fine forum, I was blown away. It is so much fun, so much more than I thought it was going to be, it's incredible. I am missing having to unlock everything, though, and playing more online games might get in the way of completing other stuff... but when the faults of a game are "I was given everything I needed to fully enjoy the game from the beginning" and "I want to play it loads more", you're doing alright. 18/20

Right, this is overdue. THUMPERI like a challenge in my video games. It's why I enjoyed games like Dark Souls or Super Meat Boy. The difference between those games and THUMPER is that when I died in those games it never really felt unfair. The game gives you tight controls and great level design to work with and if you mess up, that's on you. THUMPER has felt increasingly unfair in its later levels due to a blend of iffy controls and the music context clues of upcoming hazards gelling into one another resulting in a speedy death. The first few levels of this game were great, though. There wasn't any prolonged wait for a checkpoint like in later levels and there was a real rush from hurtling through a level. It felt rewarding not only to clear a level but to ace it. Later levels became a fight for survival where I had to hold down the right trigger and focus solely on the turns. It felt unsatisfying and most importantly for the reason I've stopped playing this, it didn't feel fun anymore. It was just frustrating. So on that note, I've packed this in. I don't regret my purchase per se, but I'm not entirely happy with it either.

What Jay said, only I gave up earlier on. The aesthetic is trippy but not really my thing - being punished over and over again definitely isn't.

I've given up on this one. Have been genuinely addicted over the past few weeks and rattled through a season of it with my created golfer. Now, this game hasn't had good reviews but that's largely because it shipped with a bunch of stuff missing (that has now been added), but also came after a Tiger Woods game that was jam-packed with modes and courses. As a golf game, it's very good, but the putting can be incredibly frustrating (particularly on the US Open course). It will have a dotted line to help you, but it "reads the putt" before displaying the line, sometimes simply saying "putt read failed" and leaving it up to you to work out the putt. I guess it's the little things that stop this from being a great golf game: the simplistic Create-A-Golfer mode that makes N64 wrestling games look like alien technology, excessive commentary and god-damn reactions from your golfer after EVERY shot that you have to hammer at X to skip. There's a good "NightClub Challenge" mode that is a lot like Mario Golf. You can activate wacky boosts or sticky balls for instance, and there's ring challenges too. There looks to be hundreds of these challenges. So, while I really liked my time with Rory McIlroy, it's a bit rough around the edges. Given it was three quid something in the PSN sale, it was great value and I do recommend it if you have a PS4 and see it cheap, but I'm still of the belief that Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour remains the most fun golf game around. 7/10

You're kidding me! It's got an assist mode that sometimes can't assist you? I play FIFA at least once a week, but it still surprises me, with their multi-million selling sports franchises, some of the things EA will ship as a finished feature and NEVER fix. A previous highlight: FIFA 2004 displaying 10 players at once on the squad screen, meaning you had to scroll down to see part of your starting XI. |

Fast RMX/Snake Pass 'I don't like this game, it's too fast!' 'I don't like this game, it's too slow!' Waa waa waa. No pleasing some people, eh? But both are true. Fast RMX is the sort of twitch-reaction racing that you can be good at either by having lightning reflexes or by learning the courses. I don't have the former, and the game doesn't have the charm required for me to do the latter. Meanwhile in Snake Pass doing anything takes ages, due to the troublesome controls. 'Balladeer, what the smeg did you expect from a physics platformer?' you may ask. Fair question, which I can answer with: a David Wise soundtrack, and enough forgiveness in the controls early doors to allow me to experience it properly. I didn't get the latter, meaning I don't know much about the former. Both impulse buys that I picked up before going on holiday. Played them both once or twice, and haven't been tempted to go back. With my Nintendo console backlog swelling dramatically, I think it's fair to say that I never will. They're both very pretty for indie games though.

I'm in the same boat with Fast RMX but for a different reason - if I'm going to play a racing game on Switch, it'll be MK8D that'll take my fancy!

Hm, to an extent. It's still a manic racing game best enjoyed in multiplayer, which I feel not only does MK8D do better but more people are about to join in with that.

Picross S If towards the end of the 3DS era, you were sick of the soulless effort-free Picross e series and their questionable Picross variants therein, stay away from this. Its puzzles are just as soulless as its forebears, with nothing to reward you upon completion other than basic shading-in of the puzzle. No animations, no rotatable wooden statues, nothing. Also it brings back Mega Picross, and the pictures you get upon completing them are exactly the same as those you get from completing the regular ones. After starting off with the first five or so, I completed the very last regular Picross puzzle, which was remarkably easy compared to last Picross puzzles in e.g. Picross 3D 2, and deleted it from my system. A poor first foray onto Switch from Picross.

Nah, I'm just tidy. I delete games I don't like, and trade in physical ones, no matter how little I get for them. I'm almost insulted about how lazy this package was, and I knew I wasn't going to come back to it, so I deleted it. Wish I could get my £7 back, but alas...

I will always try to beat before I delete. I haven't even deleted in quite a while and my 3DS, at least, is a bit cluttered.

Just Pick Up the Fucking Coins sounds more up my alley. The thing with picross is, there's about eight methods for solving the puzzle, and it's endless almost brute force application of them until you solve it. I no longer feel clever for solving a picross, so I need something else to make it worth my while. Picking up fucking coins, on the other hand...

Today, I traded in Crash towards FIFA 18 on Switch. I've not traded in a game for ages and I've got stuff like Yakuza 0 from my birthday, which hasn't even gone into the console. If you saw my review of Sonic Mania, I liked it but wasn't raving from the roof tops like some as even though it is a good game, I was always thinking I could be playing Sonic 2. Crash sort of feels the same, and yeah you go it was never good but as a PS1 kid that's the platformer we got, so we know no different. I was all for Crash to come back and Crash 4 would be great but something is off with the AAA remaster and I went back & played some Crash 3 PS1 Classic on VITA and that feels right. I would play Crash for 5 mins and think to myself, remember Crash then be done.
